The Social Problem The problems that this social program addresses is that different circumstances that place children in jeopardy such as the abandonment of child/children by the parent. In most cases, this is the result of a parent’s drug use, mental illness of a parent and divorce where neither party desires to have custody of their children. Other circumstances that are involved with the abandonment of child/children include neglect/abuse of child/children, homelessness, incarceration, or death of a parent.
