Especially when it comes to how fast some of the highways are starting to fall apart.

Robert and Samuel intended to leave the American drivers with an idea of why foreign companies are starting to invest in our highways. For some reason European companies have taken this as a huge investment opportunity and want to take it to the next level. I believe that the article does achieve its job while informing Americans about the different foreign companies investing on our highways and toll roads to keep them from falling apart.

The first claim in the article is “The reality today is increasing and the private sectors are looking for partnerships to build operate and maintain the highway infrastructure.” This type of claim is that was given is a proposal argument which is an argument that means to what can the United States do to make this better and what type of action we should take as a unit. With the given library resources Poole and Samuel give several examples. One example that has been given was the Chicago Skyway, which was leased for a 99 year skyway lease for 1.83 billion. Data shows that the skyway was a “municipal project completed in 1985, was a financial failure.” This was because Chicago didn’t have enough money to handle the construction costs needed to maintain the highway. Which led to the Chicago Skyway to be open for international lease opportunities for the firms that were involved with highway infrastructure. Poole argued that “private operators benefited from the efficiency and flexibility of corporate management and labor relations, and, free from political pressure, could also set toll rates based on the laws of supply and demand.” By this data it supports the warrant because it talks about why they Chicago Skyway needed help from foreign investors so the city of Chicago could keep the toll way open from Chicago to Indiana. With the help of private sectors it was promised that the project would and could be finished on time and without them they would still be stuck like how they were when the project first started. Poole and Samuel achieved their goal of informed the readers as to why the foreign companies have taken an interest on the United States Highway infrastructure.

My main points in the article involved why the Chicago skyway had financial failures
Why foreign investors were taking this as an opportunity, and the Private operators involved with all the action.
But ponder this thought. If the United States did not have private highway sector where would our Highways and Toll roads be in the world today would we not have them? Would the way of transportation be different? Would we fly everywhere we need to go? Just think about how much the Highways and Toll roads improve our daily lives in ways unthinkable.
