...selected to make his debut as music composer in his cousin Aishwarya R. Dhanush's directorial debut 3 starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan. While pursuing his degree at Loyola College, he had done background scores for about short films by Aishwaryaa and was convinced by her to also work on her first commercial venture.[9]Furthermore at the launch of the film in August 2011, Anirudh revealed that he had played the keyboard for compositions by A. R. Rahman and was a part of a band called Zinx.[10] In early November 2011, a leaked version of a song from the film, "Why This Kolaveri Di" circulated online and the film's team decided to subsequently release it officially on 16 November 2011 with a music video shot featuring Dhanush singing the song at AM studios, accompanied by composer Anirudh on a keyboard. It instantly became viral on social networking sites for its quirky "Tanglish" (portmanteau word of Tamil and English) lyrics.[11] Soon, the song became the most searched YouTube video in India and aninternet phenomenon across...

...Why is Anbe Sivam regarded as the best movie in the history of Tamil cinema by many? Did this movie have any story at all? First of all is it a movie? No. Anbe Sivam is an experience, not only for one Madhavan but for another few thousands, who care to learn quite a lot of things and feel conceited about themselves, but fail miserably to confront the vagaries of life. What was the movie all about? An experienced matured man and a squeamish, egotist but tender hearted youth (a typical modern day youth) travelling together from Bhubaneshwar to Chennai(East coast of India).Fate hinders their journey in all possible ways which Madhavan initially considers exasperating but later reveres as an experience of a lifetime. The story is as simple as that but the associated scenes, dialogues and the lessons learnt reverberate through your mind for a long time. Be it the floods, train accident or the little boy's death it is Madhavan who breaks down and get shattered. But Kamalhassan adapts himself and reconciles himself to reality and helps in the best possible way he can. While it takes a lot of effort for Madhavan to tell Kamalhaasan about his fraternal love towards him, Kamalhaasan finds it easy to tell 'A.Ars, you are a go(o)d man' (it's not that easy to tell it to someone earnestly). From where did Kamal get this maturity? The story moves into the flashback of Kamal,a communist, who loves the daughter of a capitalist, Nasser, whom he opposes as a worker regarding wages. When the duo...

...course of the arts of India, and consequently, the rest of Asia. Arts refer to paintings, architecture, literature, music, dance, languages and cinema. In early India, most of the arts were derived Vedic influences. After the birth of contemporary Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism arts flourished under the patronage of kings and emperors. The coming of Islam spawned a whole new era of Indian architecture and art. Finally the British brought their own Gothic and Roman influences and fused it with the Indian style. They have a culture infusion in their art. (October 2009) Indian architecture is that vast tapestry of production of the Indian subcontinent that encompasses a multitude of expressions over space and time, transformed by the forces of history considered unique to the sub-continent, sometimes destroying, but most of the time absorbing. Yaaden - the Making

...(big surprise!) the daughter of the villain (Prem Chopra). The story is about the love between a father and a son and how they are friends as well as being a father and a son. The two of them live in a colony where the people work for rich contractor Prem Chopra. Prem's father-in-law, who is dead and who owned the construction business, had promised the people that he would build houses for them and part of the story revolves around Dharmendra's and Rohit's fight to get the promised houses built for their people. The rest of the story is about Rohit's and Anjali's love affair and the "third man" in the triangle - Mohnish Bahl. Music makers Anand-Milind make an appearance after a long delay and though they seem to have stopped lifting Tamil maestro Illaiyarajah's tunes, their tunes still have a hauntingly familiar ring to it. May be we should start a competition to guess who has inspired the A-M duo this time! The film is watchable but not something you should go out of your way...

Sony Music India

...Indian School of Business ISB007 February 15, 2013 Deepa Mani | Geetika Shah Sony Music (India) February 2012. Vivek Paul, Director of Digital Media Initiatives at Sony sat with Shridhar Subramaniam, President, India and Middle East, Sony Music Entertainment, in his Santa Cruz, Mumbai office and mulled over the remarkable changes that the music industry in India had witnessed over the past few years. With the rapid growth in Internet penetration and usage, technology was driving music production, access and consumption. Sales from digital platforms had surpassed sales from traditional physical formats, such as CDs and tapes. With the distribution of digital music in India largely skewed towards the telecom business, music was increasingly being accessed via mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. Artists were reaching out to consumers directly through many innovative platforms, and live performances were gaining more traction. Independent (“indie”) artist business models were rising in popularity and creating further fragmentation in the market. Overall, the role of the recording company seemed to be diminishing. While some of the leading companies in the music industry were testing the waters in the digital space, new players, including technology companies, were quickly entering the market with various new platforms and services. Distribution, in the form of music streaming services and e-commerce sites, was changing the way music was being bought and consumed...

Film History

...Beginning and Evolution of film industry in sub-continent Introduction:- Film is a term that encompasses motion pictures as individual projects, as well as the field in general. The origin of the name comes from the fact that photographic film has historically been the primary medium for recording and displaying motion pictures. Many other terms exist for an individual motion picture, including picture, picture show, and most commonly, movie. Additional terms for the field in general include the big screen, the silver screen, the cinema and the movies. Films are produced by recording actual people and objects with cameras, or by creating them using animation techniques and/or special effects. They comprise a series of individual frames, but when these images are shown rapidly in succession, the illusion of motion is given to the viewer. Flickering between frames is not seen due to an effect known as persistence of vision, whereby the eye retains a visual image for a fraction of a second after the source has been removed. Film-A true art-form:- Film is considered by many to be an important art form; films entertain, educate, enlighten and inspire audiences. The visual elements of cinema need no translation, giving the motion picture a universal power of communication. Any film can become a worldwide attraction, especially with the addition of dubbing or subtitles that translate the dialogue. Films are also artifacts created by specific cultures, which reflect...

Bharatnatyam vs. Kathak

...Bharatnatyam vs. Kathak The Indian culture consists of a number of classical dance forms, each of which have originated from different parts of the country. Dances performed in a temple were called Agama Nartanam while dances performed in a royal court were called Carnatakam (Hindu Online). The term “classical,” shastriya in Sanskrit, was introduced by Sangeet Natak Akademi to denote the Natyashastra-based performing art styles (Hindu Online). The myth of the origin of classical dances states that Natya, the art of dance and theatre, was the creation of God Brahman, the creator of the Universe, who was asked to give mankind a fifth Veda, which unlike the four earlier four Vedas, could be understood by everyone (Dr. Miettinen). God Brahma then taught the art of Natya to the mythic sage Bharata who is said to have recorded the teachings in the Natyashashtra (Dr. Miettinen). The Natyashashtra is said to be the "world's largest and most comprehensive dance manual and still forms the foundation of classical forms of theatre and dance in India" (Dr. Miettinen). The Natyashashtra is also credited for introducing the theories of bhava and rasa which are an important part of Indian classical dances. Rasa, meaning 'essence' "refers to the sentiment that the bhava, manifested by the actor, should evoke in the audience" (Dr. Miettinen). There were originally eight rasas but a ninth one has also been added. These rasas include srngara: the erotic, hasya: the comic, karuna: the pathetic...

...2 States THE STORY OF MY MARRIAGE Love marriages around the world are simple: Boy loves girl. Girl loves boy. They get married. In India, there are a few more steps: Boy loves Girl. Girl loves Boy. Girl's family has to love boy. Boy's family has to love girl. Girl's Family has to love Boy's Family. Boy's family has to love girl's family. Girl and Boy still love each other. They get married. Welcome to 2 States, a story about Krish and Ananya. They are from two different states of India, deeply in love and want to get married. Of course, their parents don’t agree. To convert their love story into a love marriage, the couple have a tough battle in front of them. For it is easy to fight and rebel, but it is much harder to convince. Will they make it? From the author of blockbusters Five Point Someone, One Night @ the Call Center and The 3 Mistakes of My Life, comes another witty tale about inter-community marriages in modern India. This may be the first time in the history of books, but here goes: Dedicated to my in-laws* *which does not mean I am henpecked, under her thumb or not man enough PROLOGUE “Why am I referred here? I don’t have a problem,” I said. She didn’t react. Just gestured that I remove my shoes and take the couch.
