...TATTOOS I t seems like everyone has tattoo these days. And it's not just anchors, skulls, and battleships. People have found many ways to express themselves with their tattoos. Tattoos are a form of body art, and like all art, some like them and some don't. Nowadays, elderly have bad impression about people with tattoo. As we see today even women are having tattoos. The purpose I choose this topic is to explain that tattoo is an art. THE HISTORY OF TATTOOS History shows that tattooing has existed since 12,000 years BC. The purpose of tattooing has varies from culture to culture and its place on the time line In Borneo, a woman’s particular skill is indicated when they tattooed their symbols on their forearm. Throughout history tattoos have signified membership in a clan or society. For an example, Hells Angels tattoo their particular group symbol. It has been believed that the wearer of an image calls the spirit of that image. The ferocity of a tiger would belong to the tattooed person. That tradition holds true today shown by the proliferation of images of tigers, snakes, and bird of prey. Egypt is the place where earliest tattoos can be found during the time of the construction of the great pyramids. As they expanded their empire, the art of tattooing spread as well. Around 2000 BC tattooing spread to China. Tattoo was used for the communication among spies in Greek. Romans marked criminals and slaves. This practice is still carried on today. ...that they weren’t messing around. I also knew if i didn’t get tickets to the show in St.Paul I would never be able to see the band I look up to. As a result, as soon as I found out they were touring for the last time I sent a text to my friend Clayton and said “Hey Clay, Motley is goin on their final tour, u wanna go to the show in St.Paul?” After a few months of convincing our parents and buying the tickets we were able to go to the show. The tickets we had purchased were very good seats, on the floor and 20 rows away from all of the action. They came with the price of $150 a piece, but we thought it was well worth it since we would never see the band together again. August the 8th came very quickly, we had all our shirts, wigs, and arm tatoos on, we were set to go. We climbed into Clayton’s dad’s truck and we were off! When we arrived to St.Paul we went directly into the Xcel center. We then found out that Alice Cooper and his band were opening for Dikken 2 Motley Crue. I got pretty excited for that. As we walked into the arena I saw Tommy Lee’s massive drum set roller coaster. The coaster was literally hanging 60 ft off the ground in a bunch of twists and turns like an actual roller coaster would be. We then walked all the way down to our seats on the floor, I then realized that this was going to be awesome. Our seats were closer to the stage than I realized. All of the sudden out of nowhere without any warning the lights dimmed and the smoke rose and out...

...Question 1: Mel suffers from a mental disorder that gives rise to a subconscious desire to commit homicide. Under the influence of the mental disorder, Mel formulated a plan to kill Herb by breaking into Herb’s house and shooting him to death while he was asleep. Brent, who had never met or communicated with Mel, learned of Mel’s plan. Brent knew when and where Mel intended to kill Herb, and he desired to assist Mel in the crime. On the night Mel intended to kill Herb, unbeknownst to Mel, Brent forced open the front door to Herb’s house so as to effectuate Mel’s entry and facilitate his killing of Herb. Mel arrived at Herb’s house. He discovered the front door open and entered the house. Mel tiptoed to the bedroom and sprayed bullets into Herb’s body. Unbeknownst to either Mel or Brent, Herb had died of a heart attack an hour before Mel fired the bullets. 1. Are Mel and/or Brent guilty of: a. Murder? Discuss. In this particular scenario, I would not find it plausible to charge Mel with murder since Herb died from a heart attack prior to being shot by Mel. If Herb was still alive at the time, then Mel should be charged with homicide. b. Attempted murder? Discuss. Mel and Brent should be charged with attempted murder. Despite Mel having a mental disorder, his attempt to murder Herb was pre-meditated; he formulated a plan to kill Herb. Brent should also be charged with attempted murder because he wanted to be a part of killing Herb, even if it was unbeknownst to Mel. ...

...1 Creating a Social Program Final Nancy Elsesser 5/16/2014 Amy Tardy 2 Children are our future, and as our future we want our world to be free of sicknesses and diseases, well as much as we like the idea it is not going to happen. We have children who are suffering from life- threatening illnesses who do not have a chance to be a kid or to grow up with the memories of childhood. We try all we can as parents and family to keep our children safe we just can not perdict a child getting a life threating illness, we do all we can to make our child happy while going through a scary ordeal. If we can make one dream come true for a sick child for one day of forgetting they are staring down a life threatening illness and make that child laugh wouldn't giving that child a wish come true be amazing? The social program I am creating is a program to help a child who is terminally ill or has a life threatening illness called “Dreams Come True.” A dream come True program would for one day grant sa wish one child makes come true. To make this happen I would need to set up the program, find donors and volunteers, financing to help the wishes come true. Advances in medicine and modern technonogy have increased the survival rate in children with chronic illness, including illnessess that were considered fatal (Cohen,1995).Witnessing the child's pain and fear, combined with the constant fear of death makes...

...Tattoo culture and influence in society Nowadays, tattoo has been regarded as a sign of fashion. “A trend that started growing in America and Europe in the early '90s, tattooing soon became so popular that 36% of Americans aged 25-29 had at least one body tattoo by 2003(Julie Genser 2007).” However, tattoo could probably bring health risks to tattoo carrier. Historically, tattoo originally is the nation’s cultural and symbolic, different tattoo pictures have own meaning and even it is a symbol of authority. This paper will argue that the ink of tattoo injecting into our skin has lead to increase health risk. And then this paper will discuss why tattoo is so popular even it is harmful people’s health. Finally, the essay will discuss tattoo is not only a historical heritage, but also stimulates the development of the economy. Early Tattoo’s culture The word tattoo comes from the Tahitian word tattau. It means "to mark" and was first mentioned in explorer James Cook’s records from his 1769 expedition to the South Pacific. Some scientists say that certain marks on the skin of the Iceman, a mummified human body starting from about 3300 B.C., are tattoos. In fact, tattoos were found on Egyptian and Nubian mummies starting from about B.C. One of the earliest tattoos was tribal tattoos. Tattoos have different meaning in different cultural tribes. For example, Polynesian people would add more and more tattoos to themselves even until their body was completely covered. They believed...

...Ancient Egypt and the Spread of Tattoos Several female Egyptian mummies dating from the Eleventh Dynasty (2100 B.C.) show evidence of being tattooed for ritualistic purposes or for therapeutic purposes during pregnancy. Most likely influenced by ancient tattoo practices in Nubia, the women’s tattoos (or mentenu) were blackish blue and were likely applied with a pricking instrument with one or more fish bones set into a wooden handle. The most famous tattooed mummy is the beautiful Amunet, a priestess of the goddess of Hathor at Thebes, who was tattooed with several lines and dots in geometric patterns. A second female mummy, who appears to be a dancer, also exhibits similar patterns as well as a cicatrix pattern over the low pubic region. Several figurines from the Middle Kingdom known as the “Brides of Death” also display similar geometric patterns (Jones 2000). Though Egyptian tattoos have been found on only female mummies, designs which seem to represent tattoos are seen on both men and women in Egyptian art, suggesting tattoos were not restricted to women. While tattooing sprung up independently around the globe, the significant Egyptian influence also helped spread the practice. Ancient Greece and Rome: Tattoos as Marks of Ownership and Criminality The Greeks learned tattooing from the Persians who, as Herodotus informs us, would tattoo slaves, prisoners of war, and even Hellespont with the name or mark of Xerxes. While tattoos sometimes served as a way to transmit secret...
