School is an important time where children mature and recognized where they stand in a society. But, during that time, they can also be exposed and they can become victims of racism or are found in situations that are prejudice. Tatum states that, “Black students were all sitting together in the cafeteria; however, he also saw groups of White students doing the exact same time” (375). The issue that he sees in the bigger picture of his observation is that students are unconsciously segregating themselves in today’s society. This situation can resonate with what occurred during the past, when African Americans were segregated from Whites.
