1.1 Summarise entitlement and provisions for early year’s education.
All three and four years old children are entitled to 15 hours of free early education a week, for 38 weeks of the year. Funds from the government to the local authorities ensure that up to two years of free education is provided for each child before they start school. The Early year’s provisions are about supporting very young children in schools and nurseries. The early year’s education is based on learning through play following the EYFS (Early Years

Community schools:
These schools follow National Curriculum. Community schools are run, funded and owned by the local education authority. The schools land and building are owned by LEA (local education authority). LEA will support the schools to develop links with local community by providing support services. School staff is employed by the LEA. The local authority will set the entrance criteria, catchment area, they will decide which children are eligible for a place.
Foundation Schools:
Foundation schools are funded by the LEA. They follow the National Curriculum. These schools are run by their own governing bodies. The schools land and buildings are owned by a governing body or by a charity. Governors of the school will determine admission criteria. Foundation schools have got more control on their budget.
