Teaching Philosophy
As a learner, I subscribe to the idea that life is one long learning curve. In my association with life, I have come to the realization that earning a degree does not necessarily translate to getting an education. Rather, the more a person knows, the more she spirals into a perpetual state of ignorance, and serendipitously, yearns through an unrelenting hunger for more knowledge.

As an educator, I believe that each student should have the opportunity to reach his fullest potential relative to the resources available and personal capabilities of any particular student. Hence, teachers should be encouraged, instructed, and counseled to acquire the necessary tools in helping students to attain their highest endeavors.

In addition, teachers should also be motivated to establish a nurturing relationship with their students in order to ensure that each child feels valued as an individual. A well-known mantra exclaims: “Children could care less what you know, unless they know that you care.” One way to achieve this is for teachers to be inspired to encourage all community members (i.e. parents, relatives, fellow teachers, businesses, and administrators) to get genuinely involved and to actively participate in the child’s social, physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic development.

This brings to mind the popular song that resonates these words: “I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride…”

Educators have the power to make a difference, even to a small or great extent at a time, which eventually can transform into a bigger impact in the long run. Hence, educators have the privilege as well as the responsibility to make an impact on the lives of the students, regardless of their background. Teachers just need to realize that it
