Team Leadership
The following document was created in an effort to evaluate the individual characteristics of each team member and to form an effective team. The team objective is to establish a new department that will implement the company's expansion into the Home Automation market. The target date for the unit to be fully operational is March 15, 2015. A Jungian 16-type personality assessment was conducted on a team to aid in selecting the correct member for each particular area of operations within the newly developed department.
Target Market
The company's expansion into the Home Automation (HA) market is a direct response to the technological needs of today's home buyers. HA provides the convenience of controlling lights, utilities, music, and security systems through remote access via the Internet or Smartphone. In addition to the convenience, the homeowner receives the added benefits of cost savings.
Heating and cooling usually contribute to more than 50 percent of energy costs for a home (DeFeo, 2014). Unlike conventional heating and air, HA provides the opportunity to reduce the average utility bill significantly by continuously monitoring the living space and adjusting the temperatures in each room. The cost associated with lighting a home can also be positively affected by using HA systems. DeFeo (2014) states, "a single bulb can last 20 times longer when simply dimmed at 50 percent." (para. 3). And since the bulbs are not lit at full potential, less energy is used to power the light. In most cases, a bulb illuminated at 70 percent is as effective as one burning at full strength.
