...Brain Teaser 4: Cash Basis or Accrual Basis a) Use FARS to identify what standards-setters have said as to the superiority of accrual accounting relative to a cash basis. Do you agree with the justification for accrual accounting? Explain? The FASB has stated that the accrual-basis method is superior to the cash-basis method. For example, the accrual-basis method promotes the caution and equivalent concepts, which are two of the fundamental accounting concepts. Thus, dissimilar to the cash-basis method, financial statements indicate the actual responsibilities of an organization and what resources the organization actually possesses. This means the accrual basis method offers a more precise depiction of the financial status of the reporting organization. Inside Out Movie Review

...de San Juan de Letran Niceforo Vince A. Balbedina III Midterm Requirement General Psychology Movie Reaction Write-up Disney’s Pixar’s Inside Out Born in the 21th century, I was blessed enough to grow up in the luxury that is modern animation in entertainment. I remember the first animated movie I saw was DreamWorks’ Prince of Egypt. From then on, my fascination over animation and cartoons ran like water. I was five years-old when my mother let me watch my first Pixar film which was “Toy Story”. From that moment on, Pixar never failed to fascinate me. Last Wednesday, cinemas nationwide premiered Pixar’s latest work, Inside Out. I already saw the movie trailer before I went to watch the movie itself. The movie teaser was very intriguing. In the 4 minute video, they showcased all of their classic movies and the emotions that they threw towards the audience. After the memory montage, they introduced five characters each symbolizing the five root emotions of man; Joy; shown as a yellow figure that resembles the shape of a star, Sadness; shown as a blue character that resembles the shape of a tear-drop, Anger; the red fellow in the shape of a box, Fear; the purple figure that resembles the shape of a question-mark & Disgust; shown as a green character that resembles the shape of a broccoli. The plot of the story was as simple as it was intricate. It was about the struggle of a young girl, named Riley Andersen, as her emotions meet a dilemma that...

Brain Teaser 4: Cash Basis vs Accruall Basis

...Cash Basis or Accrual Basis Lisa Wilson-Chavez ACC/497 June 13, 2016   Brain Teaser 4: Cash Basis or Accrual Basis The two main methods in accounting used to keep track of income and expenses are the cash basis and the accrual basis. The cash basis is the preferred method in small companies and its income is not counted until cash is received and expenses are not counted until they are paid. When using the accrual basis income is recorded when the order is made or the service occurs, and the same with expenses, they are recorded when the goods or service are received. Smaller companies will use the cash basis of accounting but when their business grows, it is mandatory to use the accrual method if the business has sales of more than $5 million, or if you have inventory and sales of $1 million on an annual basis. Identify What Standard Setters have said as to the superiority of accrual accounting relative to a cash basis. The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is recognized by the Securities and exchange commision as the accounting standard setter for public companies. The FASB believes that using accrual accounting provides a better picture of a company’s true financial health, and for this reason is a better choice than cash accounting. The FASB is recognized by many organizations as an authoritative entity. Alicia states that in finance literature there seems to be an emphasis on cash and why if cash is so important why does the FASB...

Solution of Eve Teasing

...Eve Teasing is a cancer of the society. It is a mindset in which the men show their supremacy. A woman, weak, helpless and crying out provides the eve teasers with a perverse pleasure which is both sickening and tragic. So, What Can Be Done To Prevent Eve Teasing? It is of course true that strong laws and punishment are an effective deterrent but that is not enough. The eve teasers should not just be punished but the law should prevent such crimes. The mindset of the society has to change. This can be done when women are treated with respect and as true equals to the men. The schools can play a very major role in sensitizing young adults about the need to treat the women with respect. The trauma faced by an eve teased victim should be explained and if need be shown with the help of short films, plays and talk shows. True accounts of eve teased victims and the negative impact on them should be highlighted. In their homes too, the male and the female child should be treated as equals. It is the responsibility of parents to fulfill their duty towards the family and society by providing the right values to the children, especially the boys. Besides, all of us have to stop being mute witnesses to such crimes. We must stand up and speak and act against this menace. The punishment given to the eve teasers should be strong enough so that it sets an example for...

...Advertisements Golden rule of Advertising: The only rule to advertising is that there are no rules to advertising. It depends only on perceptions. Advertising in business is a form of marketing communication used to encourage, persuade, or manipulate an audience (viewers, readers or listeners; sometimes a specific group) to take or continue to take some action. Most commonly, the desired result is to drive consumer behavior with respect to a commercial offering, although political and ideological advertising is also common. This type of work belongs to a category called affective labor. Types of Advertisement Slice of life advertising: This is an advertising-copy technique where a real life problem is presented in a dramatic situation and the item being advertised becomes the solution to the problem. Clips of people from different walks of life strung together with the flow of music – random emotions, religions and relations shown together is what we can call a slice of life. For eg; the ICICI ad – “bande achhe hain”, “Hamaara” Bajaj and Hero Splendor's “sago se bhi saga hai tu” are good examples of this type of advertisement. These advertisements have shown the unity, religion and culture of India. Slice of life can be topic based, for eg – Colas and Dairy milk ads during cricket world cups showing the passion of India. Montage: When we make a creative ad, we take stories and not situations and then we edit them to make the ad simple. For eg, “ TATA salt-...

Relauch of Frooti

...Relaunch of Frooti-The 'Digen Verma' Campaign “Our aim was to create hype around the product, so we introduced a mysterious character called ‘Digen Verma.’ As our target audience is the youth segment, we wanted to showcase their rebellious spirit through Digen Verma.” -Ram Sehgal, MD, Everest Integrated Communications. ''Frooti has always been positioned as a drink for kids. Now, we want to position it as a drink for the youth, especially, the college-going teenagers. We therefore went in for a real life, down-to-earth person, who, like any college student likes to bunk classes, is a good sportsman and is a popular figure in the college, with whom the teenagers can actually associate themselves.'' -Alka Bhonsle, Management Consultant, Parle Agrochemicals. WHO IS DIGEN VERMA? There was no getting away from him. A poster at a bus stop in Chennai asked, “Will Digen Verma be in the next bus?” Or, when watching a movie; there was bound to be an interruption all of a sudden with a handwritten message saying, ‘Digen, your car is being towed’. And, outside in the car park, almost all the cars had stickers on them saying, ‘Digen Verma was here.’ In many commercial places in metros and even far off places like Simla, there were footmarks accompanied by the mysterious words ‘Digen Verma was here’ pasted. There were rumours galore about ‘Digen Verma’ and his identity. Some thought it was a campaign for the launch of some new fashion label, while others thought Digen Verma he was...

The ad when first opened displays the teaser, “FREE VISITOR’S PASS” and “SAVE 50%” in large font with colorful bold letters. This opener is short yet very effective. When reading through junk mails, people like me, don’t spend much more than a few seconds reading ads. This eye catching approach is simple, trying to stop the reader from simply deleting the ad. Underneath the teasing invitation for a free visitors pass is a link to accept and learn more, another approach that tries to get busy people to act quickly. With junk mail flooding our inboxes it is too hard to read all of them and teasers are needed to catch the eye of their audience. Emotional appeal is all over this ad.
