Tebow Time It has only been seven weeks since the start of Tebow Time, which is the time since Tim Tebow took over as full time starter for the Denver Broncos. In those eight weeks of Tebow Time, he has led the previously 1-4 Denver Broncos from the cellar of the AFC West to the top of the conference with an 8-5 record. Nothing about Tebow’s time in the NFL has been expected and most can hardly explain what it is he is doing and has done to turn the Denver Broncos season around. There is only one thing that one can conclude from Tebow’s short playing career in the NFL, and that is that he is a winner. It is all he has ever done, through college and even now in the pros. Tim Tebow is not suppose to be where he is at now. He was drafted too high, and he was never supposed to lead an NFL team to a winning record in only his second season. The experts said that he couldn’t even be an NFL quarterback. They said he was the third best quarterback on Denver’s roster at the beginning of the season. Tim Tebow doesn’t care what the experts say, and is proving them wrong every week he starts under center for the Denver Broncos. A sub-par quarterback winning games is not the only reason Tebow has been getting all of the hype. Tebow is a devout Christian and takes every opportunity to share his Christian values. Some are offended by this, and others think that it just adds to the legend in the making that is Timothy Richard Tebow. Tebow is not a loser, he just doesn’t do it. In college he won two BCS National Championships and led the gators to an impressive 34-5 record as a starter. While at the University of Florida he also became the first sophomore to ever win the Heisman trophy. After graduating from the University of Florida, many doubted his talents as an NFL quarterback and rightfully so, who wanted a quarterback who was a better runner than passer and who was highly inaccurate as a passer? He was drafted in the late first round by the Denver Broncos. Tebow did not start until the last three games of his rookie season, and finished with a 1-2 record as a starter. When this season began, many thought he was the third best quarterback on the Broncos, behind Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn. After Orton led the Broncos to a 1-4 start, it was time for Tebow to step in and show everybody what he could do. He has gone 7-1 with multiple come from behind wins in the fourth quarter and overtime. His numbers are not good, but to Tim Tebow the only numbers that matter are wins and losses. There is no easy way to explain what Tim Tebow is doing to turn the previously 1-4 Denver Broncos’ season around. He has been well below average in the first three quarters of games and only slightly above average in the fourth quarter when his completion percentage is 15 percent higher. One explanation for his victories is that he plays well at the end of games when it matters, but even then his numbers are near the bottom of the league in every category, except for one, wins. A group of Harvard students who are members of The Harvard Sports Analysis Collective tried to mathematically determine what it was that Tebow was doing better than Orton that was causing such a different result. The students called their study “A Statistical Analysis of the Miracles of Tim Tebow.” This study found the following;
“The group found that, despite being 5-1, the Broncos offense has trended downwards while the defense has only improved minimally. In other words, the Broncos’ recent winning ways flies in the face of science. Therein lies the miraculous power of Tebow. Or, in much more realistic terms, “while Tebow and the rest of the Broncos have not been producing better numbers, they’ve been producing their best numbers at the right times.” Otherwise known as the fourth quarter. Can it continue? The HSAC isn’t so sure. “The likelihood of Tim Tebow sustaining his current winning percentage looks rather dire.” Then again, if anyone is going to laugh in the face of science – it’s Tebow.” (Sandler 1)

The above prediction of Tebow’s downfall was published the week leading up to the Broncos game against the Minnesota Vikings in week 13, a game in which Tebow found his team trailing three times in the fourth quarter. Tebow and the Broncos beat the Vikings in week 13 and did the same to the Bears in week 14 when he led the Broncos to a win after trailing 10 with only two minutes and eight seconds remaining in the game. Tebow Time can’t be explained mathematically by any mathematician or logically by any football expert. Tebow is doing what he does best, winning. Tebow has been the talk of the not only the football world recently, he has become a household name to everyone, even people who never watch football or sports of any kind. This is because of his strong Christian values that he has made known to the public. Every on field interview involves thanking his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Some people find this to be very annoying and innapropriate but many devote Christians think that he is doing a great job promoting and living the faith on a daily basis, a thing that many people feel that no professional athletes do.
“Many evangelicals say they have drawn scorn for bringing faith into the public square, and in Tebow they see someone rebuffing critics who wish he’d stop talking about Jesus Christ. They see a courageous ambassador who leads an exceptionally honorable life – a virgin in adulthood, an advocate for disadvantaged children – and they credit the power of Christ within him.” (MacDonald 2)
Although he has many supporters, there are also many, including fellow Christians who do not think highly of him. Whether it be his controversial anti-abortion Super Bowl commercial in 2010, or just his constant public talk about his beliefs many do not share his beliefs which has led to him having many enemies.
Some Christians worry, however, that Tebow’s faith-on-the-sleeve style might lead Christians to neglect their calling to be humble. Jacob Simpson, ministry associate at Our Saviour’s Atonement Lutheran Church in Manhattan, cites the Sermon on the Mount in explaining that Christians have a Biblical mandate to pray privately, not in front of cameras, and avoid ostentatious displays.
“As a Christian, I personally am a little bit offended because I feel what [Tebow] is doing is not only an unfortunate display of piety, but is also contrary to scripture,” Simpson says. “As Christians, we’re taught to pray humbly and to live for others. The best way to display piety is to show them how good God is, rather than to show them how good of a Christian you are.” (MacDonald 2)
His beliefs and the followers that he loses or gains through his “faith-on-the-sleeve style,” all add to the legend that is becoming Tim Tebow. He has no intentions of changing his beliefs or how he presents them, so we must learn to not only live with his unconventional quarterback style but also his unconventional style of showing his beliefs as an NFL player. Harvard’s smartest mathematicians and the NFL most knowledgeable reports cannot explain what he is doing, only that he can lead his teammates to victory no matter what the circumstances. These untangible skills that cannot be matched by anyone in the NFL add to the legend that is Timothy Robert Tebow. Love him, or hate him, it would appear that Tim Tebow does not plan on going anywhere anytime soon. Everything about him is different than the norm, but that does not matter to him or anyone else on the Denver Broncos. He is a leader. He will do whatever it takes to lead the Broncos to victory because he is a winner. He is Tim Tebow.

Writers Note: I began writing this paper before he did what he did to my beloved Bears, and I found it very difficult to give an unbiased opinion on him on the second half of the paper(the half I wrote after the game) I hope I was able to do this, because I am still in shock. How did he do that? Did that really happen?

...Tim Tebow is a well-known Christian football player. Tebow is a quarterback who has played for the Denver Broncos and New York Jets. He is also well-known for the action “Tebowing” which is to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different (Tebowing, 2011). Along with “Tebowing” he also writes scriptures specifically Philippians 4:13 on his glare strips. To Tim Tebow “Tebowing” is a way humbling himself, he said he “Tebows” “because that's a form of humbling yourself. I want to humble myself before the Lord and say thank you for this opportunity. Thank you for letting me play the game I love. Whether I'm good or bad, whether I'm the hero or the goat, whether I score four touchdowns or throw four interceptions, that will still be the same person, honoring the Lord."(Kumar, 2012). Tim Tebow's Influence On Young Athletes

...Everyone has heard of Tim Tebow, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and current outfielder for the St. Lucie Mets, but few know that he almost was killed before he could accomplish anything, even taking a breath of air. His mother, Pamela Tebow, said, “The best doctor in town did some tests. She determined that Timmy was a ‘mass of fetal tissue – a tumor,’ and I needed to abort immediately or I would die.” She rejected the doctor’s opinion and kept her baby, who would go on to become the Tim Tebow who is a role model for many young athletes. In 1973 the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case took place. The Supreme Court concluded that women have the right of privacy to have an abortion. According to the Johnston’s Archive, in 1971 the percentage of abortions to total pregnancies was 12.02%. In 2004, the year I was born, it was 22.91%. From 1979 to 1984, the abortion rates in America peaked at 30%. Currently, America has the highest abortion rate of all developed countries....

Organisation Behaviour

...There are many definitions of Organizational Behavior (OB). In order to develop a personal operating definition of OB, I read several definitions to help form a framework of what OB means to me. The definitions I read ranged from the very complex to the very simple. Along with many OB definitions, there are also many different types of research. Mole noted four assumptions that are used in all OB research (2002). 1. Behavior is predictable 2. Behavior is caused 3. Behavior has many causes 4. Generalities can be made Personal Operational Definition With the above assumptions, as well as the concept that OB is a combination of different fields of behavioral sciences, I developed the following operational definition of OB. The study of Organizational Behavior is to observe, analyze and learn, what variables influence individual behavior, at both the individual and group levels, and understand how it affects the behavior of the organization. I will use this operating definition in my organization as we plan to make a major software change. The process is underway to replace the maintenance software system with an updated software so that a purchasing package can be procured that will integrate the two. By observing the behavior of the employees, I will be able to better understand the cause of their resistance to change. I will recommend a cross functional team to address all the concerns and determine what features of the old software are important and should be...

Term Structure of Interest Rate

...Explain the term structure of interest rates. What are the effects of rise in risk and expectations on the formation of long term rates? Interest rate within an economy is subject to many factors and as a result varies in relativity of those. The major factors are time period: short term Vs. long term investments, the degree of risk to which its exposed (AAA rated, mortgages, default, zero coupon…). Term structure of Interest rate is a significant tool for investors of bonds but also for policy makers, in terms of having an overview of whether to invest in short or longer term securities. This essay will go on to explain the term structure of interest rate how it is used by investors, the different theories and hypothesis behind it but also how the creation of long term rates effects its relation to risk. The term structure of interest rates also called the yield curve shows the relationship between interest rate and time to maturity of bonds, it is a common method of bond valuation. A graph is used to represent this relationship in relation to long term interest rates and short term interest rates where the maturity of an investment (x axis ) is compared to the interest rate (y axis) showing the yield (rate return) on bonds with the different maturity length. Term structure of interest usually refers to zero coupon bonds which are bonds without coupons (weekly interest rate payments on the bond) which are sold at its face value requiring as a result a fixed interest...

...and coworkers. Sometimes though, if the values do not match up, it can cause internal conflict for the employee, or even conflict between employees. There are two main ways that an employee can have conflicts with the values, between them and their supervisors or coworkers, and between them and their company. Someone who has very strong values centered on faith will struggle with a company who requires weekend work which might cause them to miss a weekly service. Katherine Dean reminisces about a position she once held where her supervisor pushed them too hard, because he overly valued sales and financial gain, even above family time and a personal life. She felt that his drive towards profit caused competition between employees instead of a positive environment (Dean, 2011) When a supervisor is pushing their employees so hard for profits and time at the office, an employee who is more geared towards family will feel conflict. Eugenesis.

...discuss similes, one of the first similes you come across when reading this poem is “The rockets lay, like molar monuments“. This is almost both simile and personification, due to the use of the word “lay” suggesting that they lay the way in which people would, but I will be focusing more on the simile side of things. The part “Like molar monuments” catches my eye the most and gives me a lot more to think about. This gives off the illusion that the rockets were dotted around the place, in no particular order, lifeless and motionless but because of the use of the word “molar”, it suggests that no matter how motionless and lifeless they are, they’re still strong and sturdy. “it was too late, the world ran like a rash” is another simile, this time suggesting that something devastating must have happened for the world to suddenly run off. “Ran like a rash.” Gives the effect that they ran quickly, as if scurrying cautiously, it also shows that the population of the world didn’t just disappear, the spread out across the face of the earth before fading away subtly. I also believe that “it was too late” helps McIlvanney because it gives the readers somewhat of a rhetorical question to consider, did the humans know this was happening? Did they try to prevent it, but failed? Before going further into the structure of the McIlvanneys Eugenesis, I’d like to point out a couple of things. Throughout it, he is continuously warning readers about dangers posed by...
