Wireless Technology Proposal

With the recent efficiency and collaboration upgrades Party Plates has proposed, improving internal communications is the next step toward advancing growth by wireless technology. Party Plates can benefit by implementing new technology that assists in the operations of everyday business. The proposed implementation of two new wireless systems will help advance Paper Plates.
The first wireless technology is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system. RFID is a tracking device to ensure products and supplies are currently in stock, received, and shipped accurately and updated daily. RFID makes counting inventory less expensive because extra cost for inventory labor is eliminated. This system is beneficial because inventory is more accurate and reordering products and supplies are easier to perform. The cost of changing the current system of barcodes to RFID will save money with its accuracy of inventory, reordering items, and theft reduction.
The second wireless technology is the installation of Electronic Credit Card Processing. This system requires the installation of computer software called Virtual Terminal that sends credit card information to merchants for processing. Paper Plates Internet website allows customers to browse products but not purchase online. Electronic Credit Card Processing allows customers to place orders and pay online. This technology will increase the number of sales from the website.
Although the two wireless technologies are beneficial, there are pros and cons for incorporating each.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
Pros
The system allows scanners to communicate with tags, eliminating the checking and scanning of incoming inventory. The system tracks inventories incoming and distribution, and inventory shrinkage occurring during shipping. The system assists in better forecasting, giving the ability to manage inventories and distribution more efficiently. RFID increases potential sales by avoiding out of stock occurrences. Smart shelves provide accurate real-time inventory movement and replenishment needs. Once incorporated, items can be tracked from receiving, shipping, and destination points. If items are lost, misplaced, or fall off the truck the system tracks the item location.
Cons:
The system is costly and most companies cannot justify the expense. As mandates arise, many companies are incorporating RFID by placing tagging on pallets or case levels. Individual tagging will be standard in the future. The system is not backed by the Organization for Standardization (ISO). There are no industry guidelines for companies to follow when switching to RFID. The existing Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems are not compatible with RFID. Once standards are in place, RFID will be the accepted Electronic Product Code (EPC) standard. Consumers inquire if items purchased containing RFID tags will continue to be tracked once purchased and will tags be removed or turned off.
Electronic Credit Card Processing
Pros
Increased sales are expected when customers have the option to order and pay online. Consumers purchase more when using efficient ordering and electronic paying methods. Advantages of online sales is global access to customer base, convenience of placing orders, quick responses, and less call center employees, resulting in lower operational costs.
Cons
Privacy concerns are an issue if a customer chooses to use an online payment method, the customer’s sensitive information may be stored in the company’s database. Customers cannot touch products purchased and there is little to know interaction from the company.
Although there are many pros and cons to both wireless technologies the justification for making a decision to use either is valuable. The utilization of RFID will improve inventory methods, increase sales, increase security, and reduce inventory shrinkage. The use of RFID will become the standard method of inventory for SCM in the future. For Party Plates to remain competitive and grow, it must consider the benefits of RFID over the initial expense and privacy concerns. Just as RFID, the use of Electronic Credit Card Processing has advantages. The main advantage of using the Electronic Credit Card Processing is increase in sales volume. Customers have the option to call or place an order online.
With Party Plates expanding, the organization is looking toward moving forward with technology. Making the best decision regarding wireless technology is a priority for Party Plates and future endeavors. Please review the financial data attached based on current information for both RFID and Electronic Credit Card Processing to help in the decision making process.

Our new mission is to create an environment where all departments can interact with customers and employees, to collaborate effectively. Accomplishing this goal will require the implementation of wireless technologies within this organization. Upon completing an intensive research, we would like to propose the implementation of Wireless Local Area Networking, also known as WLAN and Wireless Computers. The potential wireless technologies will improve communication, enhance efficiency and introduce new ideas of executing different tasks within Party Plates. Highlighted in this proposal are the pros and cons, justifications and potential risk of implementing these wireless technologies. Also included is a spreadsheet that validates the cost of the hardware and software that are required for the proposed wireless technologies. Overall, the new potential wireless technologies will leverage the company’s strategic mission to produce the best quality products based on customer’s demands. ...Wireless Technologies Proposal Party Plates is a party supplies retailer providing everything from plates to jumping houses for children and adult parties. Party Plates offering a wide range of inventory will need the ability to track sales of items sold. Keeping a proper inventory will ensure that Party Plates has available the items their customers desire. The Microsoft Dynamics Point of Sales (POS) Bundle with the Dolphin 9550 Hand Held Wireless Barcode Scanner will provide the technologies needed to encompass Party Plate’s needs and much more. The two systems mentioned above do have pros and cons that could affect the way Party Plates does business daily. The POS Bundle with the Dolphin 9550 Hand Held Wireless Barcode Scanner is an easy to use system once employees are trained by a “Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)” (Microsoft Learning, n.d.). The POS system will help with keeping records, saving time and money, inventory control, and return customer programs. The cons of the POS system is that it relies on the HP 2-GB Intel Dual Core Processor that stores the software to run the system; like most software it can fail or can be corrupted. If the system fails Party Plates will need a separate backup system to maintain the daily business and to keep records of transactions that may have been lost. Another drawback to the system is security and the ability for customer information to be stolen. The initial cost of the system and the hours dedicated...

REI’s goal is to increase sales, improve inventory management, and customer service through an increased use of technology. Studies have shown that if needs are not met quickly, one in ten customers will abandon a line while waiting. This might cause the customer to leave the store, making them less likely to return in the future. Mobile point of sales (POS) systems can be integrated, using handheld computers, scanners, and printers with integrated credit card readers. During the holidays and high volume periods, sales personnel can be strategically placed throughout the store with these mobile devices. ...Wireless Technologies Proposal BIS/220 Ivon Young Wireless Technologies Proposal Mrs. Smith, the President of Party Plates likes to know about wireless technologies available for her business to use. Currently, her company doesn’t use any wireless technologies. She has asked team D to recommend at least two wireless technologies that would be beneficial to implement her organization. Proposal There are many different options out there that could work to assist in the daily operational activities; two of these technologies that would be most beneficial are handheld terminals and a company e-mail system. When a customer is looking for a product that cannot be found on the shelf in the store, an employee can use the handheld terminal to scan the label on the shelf to see if there is any in stock. If so, they will be able to see where the product is located and quickly locate. Another situation where the handheld terminal is useful is inventory. A Party Plates employee can quickly identify products that are low in stock. Because there are so many functions on the handheld terminals, managers can give the employees codes with passwords to monitor the work that each employee is or is not doing. Another technology that would be very useful to Party Plates is a company e-mail system. A manager may need to get a communication to all employees at one time. With a company e-mail system, doing so would be very easy. Communication could involve hot sales...

...Technology Trends Proposal Part III Jamison K Conopa HCS/483 November 23.2015 Marc Magill Technology Trends Proposal Part III Adding telemedicine as an option to our organization is going to be a radical change. Implementing this new form of care is a major change for the entire company. How management handles this change can help make the transition somewhat smoother. Management will need to possess several necessary aspects. Some of these necessities are leadership, vision, trust, and implementation. To be able to change, an organization must be led. A committee of people are often the leaders of a new system. Choosing the appropriate person to lead the committee is just as important as the committee itself. The leadership committee will need to be able to define the nature of the change to everyone involved in the organization. Being able to explain the rationale for adding telemedicine to the organization should be on the top of their agenda (Glaser, Lee & Wager, 2013). Vision is another aspect that needs to be addressed by management. This should include those who will be affected by the new implementation. They should know what their new roles are and how their new work flow will be affected. This vision should be clear to all involved. Change can be difficult for some people. Understanding why and the nature of the change should help staff members through this transition (Glaser, Lee & Wager, 2013). Being able to trust that management’s compassion...

...Wireless Technologies Proposal Wallace Pittman BIS/220 May 19, 2014 Jon Smout Wireless Technologies Proposal The march of technology will never cease and businesses are required to adapt to changing technology that may give them an advantage. Since more and more people are utilizing wireless technology such as smart phones, it means that more people across the world can be connected with each other. With this in mind, the two pieces of wireless technology that would benefit Party Plates would be cell phones and utilizing an Enterprise grade Wireless LAN Controller. The main benefit of using cellular devices, like smart phones, is that they can be used almost anywhere and require no land lines. They can be used at anytime and do a variety of things that could be used by upper management to keep in contact with each other or used by workers, like truck drivers for example, to keep track of orders and where they are going. A con that would come with using smart phones is that there may be service outages and would require the purchase of said smart phones. The next useful piece of wireless technology would be to use a Wireless LAN Controller. Enabling this piece of technology will greatly simplify businesses processes by having everything related to business activities connected to the business's network. It adds security to the business's network by denying unauthorized devices access. A Wireless LAN Controller will can also keep track of business critical applications...

There are several computer systems, but the main focus is Microsoft Windows. The main advantages of, Microsoft Windows is that it will make available convenient resolutions that can be put into action by anyone. Microsoft Office is also 100 percent well-matched with any dossier or detail record. However, several other software as well as systems try to put every effort to be will-suited with Microsoft Office (Managed Network Services, 2012). Technology Trends Proposal

...The medical industry is always evolving with new and improved technological developments. With the constant changes in technology, healthcare organizations need to stay up to date in order to be competitive and provide the best care. We will discuss a few various types and uses of technology in the medical field as well as the impact they have on the medical facilities. We will also go over the technology trend I believe will improve the quality of care that is delivered to the patients in our healthcare organization. One of the biggest technological advancements in the medical industry is the electronic health record (EHR). Thought of as the “hub of the medical facility”, electronic health records are a version of a patient’s medical record that can be created, managed and consulted by authorized medical personnel (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2013). Electronic health records can be seen and used by more than one health care organization. Since paper medical records are no longer used, medical facilities no longer have to deal with illegible, incomplete or missing records. Electronic health records contain all of the patients past and present medical information to include: medications, allergies and lab results. The patient’s medical information is available whenever and wherever it is needed. The electronic health record systems have a multitude of functions available. One function that helps when it comes to patient safety is the computerized provider order entry. Computerized...

Computers and software are practically in every area of healthcare. An important role of computers is the increase of its capabilities, availabilities, and accuracies of information that is used in the support and development of our health care systems. Some remarkable changes have occurred in our health care systems due to computers. One such computer is a medical robot. To allow surgeons to have a better access to areas that are more precise and tedious, a medical robot can be used for these types of operations. Privacy risks With the use of medical robots, there are more chances of privacy risks. A health care robot will be monitoring a patient 24 hours a day, and all the information that is collected and stored can be at risk. The reason for privacy risks is that all information that is collected can or will be reported to other robots, human providers or health information technologies. Healthcare robots will have capabilities of connecting to other devices and this will mean the transference of personal data. Healthcare robots will have the need of being sure they are running and functioning properly...

...Wireless Technologies Proposal In order to keep up with the changing and improving of technology we want to suggest upgrading to wireless devices for our company. We want to implement the use of tablets and laptops with Wi-Fi. This proposal will show why we feel this will be an improvement to our company’s sales and overall performance. It will also show the cost associated with the wireless devices and how it can also save us money with our company. First and foremost, wireless technology is sweeping the world, and becoming a plus in the business atmosphere. Many business owners apply these tools too their company because of the convenience of using them. Wireless technology is telecommunications used to carry a signal without wires, done by electromagnetic waves. Wi-Fi is a popular computer network service that uses the internet to transmit data wirelessly; usually done on a laptop or tablet. A wireless laptop is great for Party Plates because it will help access data quicker, which means we can receive orders quicker from clients. The manager will be able to communicate with clients, staff, and employees wherever he or she is. There are so many office jobs that can be handled using laptop with Wi-Fi, like faxing, printing, and emailing.
