Technology Affecting Children: Be Aware of Your Children
Americans today tend to believe that cell phones are not only affecting relationships but young children too. Although, it’s pleasant to let children access your cell phone so they can distract themselves and allow you to finish cleaning, working, etc. Parents should not be buying children younger than 6 years of age any sort of technology. Technology is like a drug. Once you start using it you are eventually addicted. My own view is that technology shouldn’t be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week especially not by children. To start with, one reason why young children shouldn’t be getting cell phone’s or any type of technology at a young age is announced that technology increases child mentality. In my personal experience my parents bought my baby sister …show more content…
On one hand, if you trust your kids with technology and feel that if you prevent them from using technology they will visit a friend and touch their technology there, but if you trust your kids you should probably trust them when they tell you what they are going to do when they attend their friend’s house. On the other hand, yeah your children can find any tutorial on YouTube and that can help them do whatever they are experiencing or learning, but that’s not always the best thing to do. Others even prevent their children to touch technology when they attend their friend’s house and that’s maybe something you can do to help your kids. My own view is that whether you trust your kids or not if you tell them that they can not use technology and you are preventing them from using technology they should always listen to you or if they don’t then make sure you let their friends parents know that they are not allowed to use

Research Proposal

...Research Proposal Proposal for Research Topic The topic that I chose to research about is how technology is affecting people and how they interact with one another. More specifically though, I want to focus on the younger generation and children, and how their engulfment in the digital world is seriously affecting their physical relationships with family and friends. Now, to focus on children, family, friends, and how they are all being affected by the new and coming digital life is a decently broad topic. So, to limit my topic I will look closely at what questions and answers I can ask in regards to each of the above areas of research, and develop a tentative thesis. The preliminary research that I’ve conducted so far includes three articles; “How our digital devices are affecting our personal relationships”, “Children, technology, problems, and preferences”, and “Kids really are different these days”. The first of the three, entitled “How our digital devices are affecting our personal relationships”, brings to attention the fact that everyone nowadays is getting really caught up in recent technologies, and it goes on to discuss how such a strong involvement in technology is negatively affecting our personal relationships. Furthermore, the article mentions how the presence of cell phones reduces many vital factors in maintaining strong relationships with friends and family, including trust, closeness, and empathy. The second article, entitled “Children, technology, problems...

Computer Technology

...study As we move into the 21st century, technology has greatly improved and has become better. It is continuously growing and changing in many aspects until now. It makes the people’s life easier than the usual and is greatly helpful and useful especially to the students. Technology invented gadgets like computers and laptops that students can use in their studies. These gadgets changed how students learn, process and obtain new or old information. These can also use when it comes to finishing their task and completing their school works because students can freely visit many educational websites. Students can also play educational games, which can help them improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, technology has also negative effects like other things. Like computers, instead of using it for research purposes, students tend to use it for playing games like DOTA and Couter Strike. Students also use it for just viewing or signing in their social networking pages. Computer is a factor that distracts or steals away the attention or the focus of the students in their studies. Students abuse the power of technologies. Computer technology has positive and negative effects in the lifestyle of the students. Computer were invented to help students and not the be abused by the students which brings negative effects. But, majority of the results that were gathered presents that most students agree that computer technology is a good material that helps in the study...

Technology in Society/2030

...Streppone English Composition 1- Formal Essay 2030 American society and even the world as a whole today are becoming more dependent on technology everyday. Technology advances have increased at a much faster pace in the last 20 years and is only getting faster. Not only is it getting faster, but it is increasing at a much higher rate as well. We have advanced more in the last 5 years than we would in 15, say 20 years ago. That is almost triple the rate. There is the technology that we need, and the technology that we just desire. With both of those come some positive and negative effects. Living in the world of 2013, we can only imagine what it will look like in 2030. People this day in age are addicted and dependent on technology in many different ways. Some of the important things that we need, that rely on technology are communication, transportation, bills/financial needs, food preservation, medical procedures and medicine, and emergency situations. Those are generally the benefits of technology that we typically could not survive without. These types of technological advances by 2030 should be very positive, I think. For instance, better research equipment will help find cures and treatments to different diseases and disorders. I believe that in school systems there will be electronic paper that looks just like paper but when you write can be saved as a file. Most likely text books will be done away with too. Think about it. There might not even be a need for...

Education

...Importance of Handwriting Handwriting is an essential skill for both children and adults (Feder & Majnemer, 2007). Even in the age of technology, handwriting remains the primary tool of communication and knowledge assessment for students in the classroom. The demands for handwriting are great, whether in the classroom or beyond. A 1992 study (McHale & Cermak) found that 85 percent of all fine motor time in second-, fourth- and sixth-grade classrooms was spent on paper and pencil activities. A more recent study (Marr, Cermak, Cohn & Henderson, 2003) noted that kindergarten children are now spending 42 percent of their fine motor time on paper and pencil activities. The addition of handwritten components to many state standardized assessments and of a handwritten essay to the College Board SAT in 2005 further emphasize the importance of handwriting. Furthermore, good handwriting is important long after graduation. In Script and Scribble (2009), Florey writes in reference to handwritten job applications, “Like it or not, even in our machine-driven world, people still judge you by your handwriting.” Research literature extensively documents the consequences of poor handwriting on early literacy and academic performance. Children who experience difficulty mastering this skill [handwriting] may avoid writing and decide that they cannot write, leading to arrested writing development (Graham, Harris and Fink, 2000). Handwriting is critical to the...

Health Research and Designs

...Health Research and Designs Kimberly Mongold HPR 460 Analysis of Health Research Instructor: Sarah Howell September 07, 2014 Health Research and Designs This paper is in regard to a cross-sectional study that was used to estimate the prevalence of tobacco consumption and secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure in private cars, commercial vehicles and taxis in the city of Barcelona in Spain (Curto, A., Martínez-Sánchez, J., & Fernández, E. (2011). “Cross sectional studies are the best way to determine prevalence and are useful at identifying associations that can then be more rigorously studied using a cohort study or randomised controlled study. Although they are quick and easy, they do not allow for the distinction between cause and effect” (Mann,C.J., 2003). Although most cross sectional studies are done using questionnaires, in this case the use observation to collect their data. The purpose of this study was to research the health effects from exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke in in private cars, commercial vehicles and taxis. The sample size was 2442 private cars, commercial vehicles and taxis on 40 public roads. There were two main variables, total tobacco consumption ,either by the driver or the passenger, and SHS exposure. ...Special Issues Paper and Presentation Corbo Mikah BSCOM/100 Introduction to Communication November 09, 2015 Mary Lee Special Issues Paper and Presentation This is our final assignment for your class, and because of my communication issues with my children, I am writing this paper again and will have to redo all of my presentation. When I started this class, I was stunned because I thought I knew everything I needed about communication. Well as you can guess, I was wrong I have learned quite a bit along this long journey through Introduction to Communication. I am here writing about some of the key points of communication that I have learned and hopefully I will be able to show you that I was able to learn from you and your course. This last week we have been learning about diversity, ethics, technology and mass communication. These four words seem to not have anything in common, right? Well, that is what I thought until I began to read and research all four of these words. I looked all through our Chapters and I had a really hard time finding the best meaning of diversity, so after more research I found the perfect answer. Diversity is the inclusion of individuals, representing more than one national origin, color, religion; a point of difference. Another good example to the meaning of diversity would be variety, or a range of difference. The next word is ethics and my favorite meaning to this is; a branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct...
