...Assistive Technology Evaluation Lena Wall Ashford University Meeting Individual Student Needs with Technology EDU620 October 15, 2013 Assistive Technology Evaluation Read Out Loud and Recorded Books are two assistive technology resources that will be beneficial to the educational system. Read Out Loud is a software solution to help students of all learning abilities become better readers. This computer program will allow students read text and have it audibly spoken to them while reading. This way when students come across difficult words they have the option of having the words spoken. Students will be able to learn how the words are used and how to appropriately pronounce the words. Not only does this technology provide text to speech but it also offers study tools to help students comprehend the information they read. This technology also provides access to the new electronic books required by IDEA, (DonJonston, 2012). This technology is $1299.00 for unlimited use. Learning Activity example: Students can use this when practicing how to use words appropriately in sentences. Students can listen to words used and see images of the words through the computer. Kurzwell 3000 is perfect for universal design for learning and response to intervention, (Kurzwell, 2012). It allows the learner to process information through visual and audible access through a computer. This technology will enhance how students write, comprehend, and study information taught in class. This...

...Controls for Information Technology (IT) and Reporting and Evaluation Jami L. Valek ACC-544 January 28, 2013 Christine Errico Controls for Information Technology (IT) and Reporting and Evaluation Information Technology (IT) controls are activities that are specifically performed to ensure that business objectives are met through the use of people and systems. IT control objectives are related to the business enterprise’s confidentiality, integrity, availability of data, and the overall management of the IT functions. There are two types of IT controls: IT general controls, which are controls over the IT environment, computer operations, access to programs and data, program development and program changes; and IT application controls, which refer to transaction processing controls (“Information Technology Controls”, 2013). IT General Controls are the foundation of a company’s IT control structure. ...Controls for Information Technology and Reporting and Evaluation April Keller ACC/544 Instructor: September 11th, 2009 Controls for Information Technology The success of a business is determined by how effective its managers are in managing risk. Therefore, acquiring effective risk management helps to protect the company from losses because of poor accounting practices as well as fraudulent activities. Using good controls protect managers from liabilities that may arise when certifying financial statements used in annual reports because when these reports are issued, they are also a reflection of the company’s internal controls. The internal control process begins with management and the attitude that management portrays through the company. Manager duties include implementing the policies and procedures used within the company, these policies and procedures are also used to build the structure which is found within the internal control environment. Internal Control Reporting Options An audit report has three general functions used to report a company’s financial statements. These reports indicate whether the financial statements are presented in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. Auditors use their reports to highlight any unusual aspects of the audit examination, and the reports can be used to communicate useful information to decision makers that may not appear on the face of the financial statements. ...what the evaluation and validation process entails. Further I am proud to let you know and understand the model of evaluation and the four levels in evaluation of programs. Evaluation simply means assessing the worth or the value of the program. It is an appraisal to determine whether the activity to be evaluated is worth. According to Sinclair, (2002) it is an attempt to assess the training with an objective of improving it. Validation is a concept which is used to describe the program and the outcome. The activity deals with testing and assessing whether the program has an internal validation. It also involves assessing whether the objectives are based on accurate determination of training needs. There are two forms of evaluating a training program. They include formative and summative evaluations are forms of evaluation in a training program. Summative evaluation is conducted in the early stages of the evaluation process primarily deals with the planning and implementation process. On the other hand, summative evaluation aims at assessing the outcome of the program and focus on determining the relationship that exist between various factors in the outcome Kirkpatrick, (2007). Donald K developed a model used in evaluation of training. The model of evaluation has been in use for many decades by the training community. The model places premium in measuring the kind of outcomes that surfaces after completion of a rigorous training. The four kind of evaluation includes...

...Evaluation: I chose to make a meal that contained Calcium and Vitamin D. In order to accomplish this, I made two dishes. The first, Fish in Cheese Sauce, and the second, Pistachio and Chocolate Mousse with fruit salad in Tuile Baskets. Before I made these two dishes, I researched about Calcium and Vitamin D and found out why these were important in the body and what they helped prevent. This helped me gain more insight and helped me know how important they were. Then, I found out a list of foods that contained these nutrient sin high quantities. With this, I was able to choose what dishes I was going to make. Before I chose these dishes however, using Food for a PC, I was able to know how much Calcium and Vitamin D these dishes contained. Comparing the figures to the DRVs, I was able to know what needed to be adjusted. This meant that I changed the fish (originally Cod) to Herring which had more Calcium in it. Even with this, I had not provided the entire amount of calcium needed. Also, I researched a couple of recipes that I could do. Another part of my planning was that I created a sample sensory analysis sheet that I could use for my sensory testing. This helped because with the six words I had chosen, I knew what I needed to focus on more (making it soft, savoury, etc). After all of this, using the recipe I had chosen from the internet, I made a time plan that showed how long I should take to do things. This helped me because it told me what I needed to do and how long to...

...which is do the evaluation techniques, that are discovered or established in the past, still work in our current days? Do these techniques still work with the new issues in our educational system. It is obviously that the evaluation of teaching effectiveness in the past it is different from the current evaluation process because there are certain factors are important to be included in the evaluation of teaching effectiveness. These factors are as the criteria for the evaluating of educational effectiveness. Some of these factors still work as a criterion for the evaluation process. While, the other factors have to be excluded from the evaluation and not to be given as much weight. Therefore, the main goal of this study is to ask administrators about which items still valid until the now and have to be included in the evaluation process and which of these items are invalid to be an evaluation criterion. This article also offers the main sources of data for evaluation of faculty performance as one of the important components of evaluation of educational effectiveness. There sources are students’ evaluation tools, teaching portfolios, classroom visitation reports, and scholarship activities. These sources offer significant information about the faculty performance and consequently they will contribute significantly in assessing and evaluating the teaching effectiveness. There are some items of evaluation have to be included and be given more weight in any evaluation process of the...

The assessment of content quality (CQ) in social media adds a layer of complexity over traditional information quality assessment frameworks. Challenges arise in accurately evaluating the quality of content that has been created by users from different backgrounds, for different domains and consumed by users with different requirements. This paper presents a comprehensive review of 19 existing CQ assessment related frameworks for social media in addition to proposing directions for framework improvements. Keywords: content quality assessment, social media, discussion forums, wikis, weblogs. 1 Introduction Information quality (IQ) has been widely defined in literature by its fitness for use. Existing research in the field of assessing IQ within traditional information systems is relatively mature and has led to the discovery and validation of numerous quality dimensions and metrics [2, 15, 17, 29, 35]. Knight & Burn (2005) have presented a comprehensive review of literature in the realm of assessing IQ frameworks. Common IQ dimensions that were identified from their review are presented in Table 1. The definitions of these dimensions have been included from Wang & Strong (1996)...

...Strategic Management Case Study Project “Mission Statement Evaluation Matrix” Introduction: Perhaps the best way to develop a skill for evaluating mission statements is to study actual missions. There is no one best mission statement for particular organization, so a good judgment is required in evaluating mission statements. Evaluation of a mission statement regarding inclusion of the nine components is just the initiation of the process to assess a statement’s overall effectiveness. Effective statements should include nine components that can be understood well by the following examples of mission statements and their evaluation matrix. Components of the Mission Statements: 1- Customers 2- Products or services 3- Markets 4- Technology 5- Concern for survival, growth and profitability 6- Philosophy 7- Self Concept 8- Concern for public image 9- Concern for employees We have used the mission statement evaluation matrix to analyze the effectiveness of mission statements of three major companies working globally. ...Program Planning and Evaluation Paper Axia College Program Planning and Evaluation Paper The Santa Rosa Philharmonic Youth Symphony (SRPYS) is an organization which supports young people who love music, encourages quality musicianship, and advanced leadership skills through their program. Local elementary and middle schools have had to cut the music programs from their curriculum; parents, students, and community members are concerned that this lack of support from the education community will discourage talented individuals. SRPYS is an organization which has developed plans to educate and advance the skills of young musicians. Their program planning and evaluation techniques are established, but always open to change as the students and musical tastes vary from year to year. Program planning and evaluation are two different processes in any human services agency, but are related to each other in many ways. Program planning is a process through activities or interventions which address and facilitate changes in a specific problem or problems. (Terao & Yuen, 2003) Through this planning, new programs can be implemented which can more appropriately address the problem or add new aspects to an existing program. Program evaluation provides information about how well a program is meeting the needs of its clientele, staff, the community, and its mission. Ongoing assessments allow for changes which need to be made as participants change, needs change, or there are better ways...

...How do ethics affect the evaluation of the Stanley Park Project when competing with the school district for funds? There are several ethical issues that may present themselves during program evaluation. There are risk and benefits. Those participating in the evaluation as well as all other stakeholders can benefit from an evaluation. The risk involved is when personal thoughts as well as stakeholder influence becomes the basis of the evaluation outcomes. Evaluation outcomes should be solely based on the information gathered during the evaluation of the program. The Stanley Park Project and the City of Kelsey’s school district should come together with regard to the technology aspect of both. The school district has funds that are earmarked for adding technology to the districts school. Technology at either facility would be great assets and beneficial to the students and the community as a whole. Ethical issues may result due to certain stakeholders. In this case the stakeholders are the state, mayor, investors, city council and the residents of Kelsey. Finances should not be an ethical issue here. The issue that may present a problem is should the Stanley Park Project cut back on the technology portion of the site because the school district is slated for technology updates. With the technology updates at the schools it is a possibility that the Stanley Park Technology Annex may not require as much detail if the school will be obtaining these types of updates. ...

...employees are not performing up to a certain standard or at an expected level of performance. The difference between actual the actual level of job performance and the expected level of job performance indicates a need for training. A training analysis is conducted ultimately to identify what areas of knowledge or behaviors that training needs to accomplish with learners. The analysis considers what results the organization needs from the learner, what knowledge and skills the learner presently has and usually concludes with identifying what knowledge and skills the learner must gain. Usually this phase also includes identifying when training should occur and who should attend as learners. Ideally, criteria are established for the final evaluation of training to conclude if training goals were met or not. Depending on the resources and needs of the organization, a training analysis can range from a very detailed inventory of skills to a general review of performance results. The more complete the training analysis, the more likely that the employee's training will ultimately contribute results to the organization.
