With our busy schedules and having other things to worry about, we often don't take a moment to ask ourselves and figure out what it actually means to be human. If one was to search on Google, the question “What does it mean to be human?” they would get something like “relating to or characteristic of people or human beings” - not quite specific. Something that separates human from other species is the ability to connect, interact with, and relate to another person on a deeper level. Building a connection with people is one of the most important things about being human beside our basic needs. Human nature compels us to crave interactions and love from others. Across religions, races, social classes, gender etc. connection is found everywhere. Since we desire this connection so much, we are often afraid to be “seen as different” to avoid losing the connection we have made with other individuals.

I want to incorporate my native language, which is Spanish, throughout my halls by making my “where am I”, “who’s on duty” boards and other posters bilingual. Being bilingual is an important part of my identity, so whenever I have the opportunity to incorporate it I definitely will! Additionally, if my residents are bilingual I would love to incorporate their native languages as well. With my theme being all around the world I want to learn a lot about my resident’s individual cultures. For my door tags I will use images such as suitcases, different states, passports, flags, globes, and many others. I will also have a medium sized map in my hall where residents will be able to pin places they have been, and the places they originate from. Learning about other people’s cultures is something that fascinates me, and I feel like it will bring my hall closer together, as well as making our home more
