...I love television with all my heart, I also hate it with a passion. I have many reasons for my emotional dyslexic connection to television. I love the feeling I get when Thursday rolls around and the Apprentice is on NBC. Who will be eliminated tonight? What will their task be? I love Home and Garden Television. They do home renovations in two days time, show us how to plan and carry out a fabulous dinner party in an evening, and demonstrate how to create fabulous decorations for any holiday season. DIY or Do It Yourself television is equally inspiring, though neither are actually inspiring enough for me to have attempted any of the projects I learned about, but that is beside the point. When I would talk about different shows, my friend would get a confused look on his face and say, “I’m not familiar with that show, if it’s not on PBS then I wouldn’t have seen it.” That is the defining statement of a PBS snob, he admits it. Different people could fill in the ‘PBS’ designation with the ‘History Channel’ or the ‘Discovery Channel’. At that point I knew it was futile to even attempt to convey how funny the show was that I watched, it would have been lost on him. There is a sense of superiority when people say, “Oh, I don’t watch television.” Like we immediately picture them reading War and Peace instead of watching the finale of The Bachelor. I think of them as alcoholics that don’t allow themselves to watch any television because they would soon find themselves sitting among...

...Television is a form of media that has great ability to influence and brainwash the viewing public. The talking box in one’s living room has assumed the overpowering role it plays today as a result of the weakness of society. This may seem like a negative view but a society’s strength is based on the relationships between people and when so much time is spent away from others and together with the media, the actions that take place are often times a reflection of what television presents. In President Clinton’s speech, he brings forth this very point and he acknowledges the family’s increasing weakness and calls on all people to bring back the values of the past and stop the media from playing such a huge role in our community. The overwhelming influence of the media is a constant threat to the maintenance of traditional family values and to the protection of our children’s future. Nevertheless, television cannot be changed for it is too big and powerful but compromises can be made that can strengthen society and help keep certain values protected. Over the past decades, people have less and less time in their hands due to careers, divorces and the constant struggle for success. This unfortunately, is resulting in parents spending less time with their children, which is an important responsibility that no one or nothing can replace. President Clinton said, “television… may be the third parent, but it can’t be the first or the second”(Clinton, p.173). The focus on “parental...

INDUSTRY OVERVIEW 1.1 Introduction The Indian telecommunications industry is one of the fastest growing in the world. Government policies and regulatory framework implemented by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) have provided a conducive environment for service providers. This has made the sector more competitive, while enhancing the accessibility of telecommunication services at affordable tariffs to the consumers. In the last two decades, the Indian Telecom Sector and mobile telephony in particular has caught the imagination of India by revolutionizing the way we communicate, share information; and through its staggering growth helped millions stay connected. This growth, however, has and continues to be at the cost of the Climate, powered by an unsustainable and inefficient model of energy generation and usage. Simultaneously, this growth has also come at significant and growing loss to the state exchequer, raising fundamental questions on the future business and operation model of the Telecom sector. Telecommunication services are globally recognised as one of the driving forces for overall economic development in a nation. They are also one of the prime support services needed for rapid growth and modernisation of various sectors of the economy. The Government of India recognises...

They can now be hand-held and are highly prominent on roads. This is particularly noticeable in taxis, as most cabs are now fitted with some form of GPS device and many fleets have enforced mandatory GPS policies. This document analyses the impact and worth of refitting a fleet of taxis the size of Canberra Cabs with new portable GPS devices. A series of systems analysis techniques were applied in the analysis of the devices in order to reduce the complexity of the components. A major period of device improvement was identified as the time between 2007 and 2009 based on a diffusion of innovations analysis. The analysis of two particular devices, the TomTom XL 310 (2007) and the Garmin Nuvi 1350 (2009), were used as a comparative measure of the improvements made in the time period. The devices chosen for analysis were ergonomically assessed in terms of their user interface. The major factors improved were found to be the prediction of text and consistency with other devices users may be familiar with. An experiment was then designed and performed to...

... What is forgiveness? Forgiveness is not holding a grudge or seeking revenge, but releasing the other from blame and trust in God to forgive the person who offended us. The bible states, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins (Matthew 6:14-15). As believers, we are obligated to forgive those who hurt us and leave it to God for justice. Forgiveness may be hard, but it is one of the key elements in life to move on and pursue happiness. Although we may never forget the offense one has done to us, forgiveness allows us to not only be at peace with ourselves, but also live in the imagine and likeness of God. In the book Left to Tell by Immaculée Llibagiza, Immaculée must make the decision to forgive not only a man who has murdered her family, but also all Hutus who have murdered over seventy perfect of the Tusti population in the Rwandan genocide. When Immaculée finally met the man who had murdered her family, Felicien, the man wept and was now left to live his life in regret. He knelt to his knees and looked at the floor. He was guilty and embarrassed to even face Immaculée. Instead of seeking revenge, Immaculée said, “Forgiveness is all I have to offer” (Llibagiza 204). She not only put all her faith and trust in God, but she was able to forgive those and move along with her life. Without hesitation and with God by her side, Immaculée...

...Patients can receive treatment closer to home, especially those in rural areas. Mental and behavior health disorders can be treated due to the access of qualified clinicians. The patients who need treatment will have improved compliance along with the education needed of the disorder. There is also an improved coordination of services (Saeed, 2015). Telehealth that is well designed can have improved health care access and positive outcomes especially for vulnerable groups like seniors. It will help to reduce the demand on primary physicians and create a healthcare cost savings. Disadvantages of Tele-behavioral Health While there are many benefits to tele-behavioral health, there are also disadvantages. One of the main concerns is if the medical site or home site has the operability. Is there access to communication technology? Telehealth needs to have advanced scheduling for clinics and in-home use. The primary physician must recognize the need for the referral and make the referral. There needs to be coordination between the primary physician and the specialty referral and an agreement upon treatment (Tebbs, 2018). Informatic Skills and...
