• Define inbound telemarketing. Give an example. o Inbound telemarketing is when someone calls into a place for information or the purpose of being sold a product. This may happen from them seeing some kind of advertisement for a product or receiving something on the internet, or via the mail that inclines them to call in. Inbound telemarketing is usually the easiest because the person is calling you and they normally know some information about what they are calling about and they have some kind of interest in the product or service that they will be offered. o An example would be Dun and Bradstreet. They are the credit reporting agency for businesses. When I worked for them people would call us because they had heard of Dun and Bradstreet and they wanted they credit report and it was my job to sell them services which could enhance their experience and their business’ credit report.
• Define outbound telemarketing. Give an example. o Outbound telemarketing is cold calling. Most times people do not know that they are going to receive a phone call from an outbound telemarketer unless there was some kind of lead that was generated and they were advised at the time that someone may be calling them about the products that they offer. o I also did cold calling for Dun and Bradstreet. The company had purchased lists of business names, phone numbers, addresses and owners. We would call these business ask to speak to the person that we had listed as the owner or sometimes just ask for who was in charge. We would tell them where were calling from and what we had to offer. Sometimes people would listen, and decline, most times people would just hang up and then there was the occasion the person would listen, know the company and be interested in purchasing what we were selling.
