Children’s behaviors and their interactions with the world and people around them are influenced by their temperament. The Temperament Continuum identifies a child’s temperament, which the early childhood teacher can use to better understand the child. The continuum also identifies the teacher’s temperament. This is important …show more content…
Place the initials of the child in your care on the continuum for each trait, based on your observations and discussions with the child’s family.

2. Next, write your initials on the continuum where you feel you fall on each trait.

3. Review the results and identify where your temperament is similar and different to the child’s.

4. Knowing that it is the adult who must adjust to make the “fit” good, create care strategies that can provide the best possible experience for this child.

The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between tendency to be involved in social conflicts (conflict potential) and locus of control beliefs (two types: intermal/external) as well as two types of typology (introversion/extraversion). Based on the previous studies (Holloran, Doumas, 1999; Benjamin, 1999; Williams and Vantress, 1969) it is hypothesised that that 1) there will be a significant difference between locus of control, extraversion and conflict potential; 2) introverts will score higher on group adaptation scale than extraverts; 3) externals will score lower on group adaptation scale than internals. Two more hypotheses derived from the earlier findings (Bookwala, Sabine and Zdaniuk, 2005; Harris and Bohnhoff, 1996): 4) the results will differ between age and gender groups; 5) with the increase of age the conflict potential will decrease.
