The origin of Baptism dates all the back to Jewish practices, however, it wasn’t done the way we know it now. The Sacrament of Baptism has many similarities to a Jewish purification ritual called Tevilah. Both Baptism and Tevilah both share many similarities and differences. First both rituals use The immersing of water to wash away something. The Christian Baptism washing away sins, and the Jewish practice Tevilah uses water to wash away things.
