Exercise 6.1
There are many different goals I would like to complete. My first goal is to work for a state program called CareStar. Then I want to build a program called Next Step for teens in my local community. My last goal is to advocate for the Scleroderma Foundation regularly.
The steps that must be taken to achieve my goals will take years. In order for me to work at CareStar I must be a licensed social worker. So my steps will be to complete the Bachelors program at the University of Phoenix, transfer to Wright State University’s master’s degree program, complete internships, take state test and apply for a position. When building my program for Next Step different kinds of steps will have to be taken. First my plan is to research information on becoming non-profit. Following will be copy righting my name, calculating all expenses, writing for government and private grants, hiring employees and building community partnerships.
Well my last goal is the hardest because I don’t have very much free time. My plan to dedicate more time to the Scleroderma Foundation will first consist of me opening time in my schedule by becoming more organized. Then I plan to create a virtual interaction site for chapter members. This will allow me to be an advocate using the internet. Last I will attend conferences, meetings and walks.
Exercise 6.2 Assisting Freydia will depend on completion of requirements she must meet. Because Freydia is still addicted to crack cocaine the big objective is to become drug free. The component objective consists of intense counseling while attending a drug rehabilitation program. After completing the program Freydia can then focus on getting her children back. This could consist of attending NA meetings regularly, find stable housing, employment, complete parenting classes, meet court requirements and build a childcare plan. Only after all the steps are taken can Feydia expect to get her children back. Partializing the objectives for employment Freydia would be made aware of the steps. Buying a newspaper, drafting a resume, contacting businesses and interviewing. When finding stable housing Freydia would overview her financial circumstances, local available houses or apartments, contact owner, view property, sign lease and receive keys to property. Due to Thomas having a mental illness several component objectives need to be completed before he can return to college. Thomas would need ongoing psychological counseling, therapy, medications, identification of weaknesses and strengths, meetings with school staff, and support team. How I would partialize meeting with the school staff consist of several steps. Thomas or his mother would need to contact the college’s disability services. Then explain Thomas condition, find out options, workshops, counseling services, tutoring services and create a long-term plan on meeting academic requirements. In Rad's case his big objectives would be learning how to speak English and becoming an engineer. The partializing objectives for learning English are locating a school that teaches the language and also has someone that speaks Rad's language. Rad would need to study, practice with others, complete assignments and begin using English as often as he can. These steps are similar to the steps Rad needs to take to become an Engineer. Rad first would need to register at a college majoring in engineering. Also he should read and complete assignments, intern, build computer knowledge and research employment opportunities. In the end Rad should be able to learn English, find employment as an engineer, save money and bring his family over from Bosnia.
Exercise 6.3
The strengths and weaknesses that will help me my goals are important to understand when prioritizing. My goal to work at CareStar, crating Next Step, and becoming an active Scleroderma Foundation advocate require me to build on my strengths and understand my weaknesses. My strengths are remaining calm, ability to locate resources, being reliable and keeping a positive attitude. My weaknesses are talking over someone, over analyzing and dealing with conflicts. My priorities are to practice my listening skills, practice thinking smarter and not harder and learning methods to confront conflicts. I believe these goals are obtainable if I use local resources for support. Like church, organization classes, family and friends.

What Is Apa Style

...Rules • Formatting: The preferred APA font is a serif typeface such as Times New Roman with 12-point size. Double- space between all lines of text, including the reference list. Have uniform margins of at least 1 in. (2.54 cm) on all sides. • Hanging indents should be used for the reference list entries. This means that all lines after the first line of each entry should be indented one half inch from the left margin (in Word 2007 use Paragraph>Special>Hanging). • Arrange reference list entries in alphabetical order by the surname of the first author or by title if there is no author. Use only the initial(s) of the author's given name, not the full name, with a space between the initials. • If the reference list includes two or more entries by the same author(s), list them in chronological order (oldest first). Add a lower case letter (a, b, etc.) after the year, within the parentheses. • Capitalize only the first letter of the first word in the article or book title. Proper nouns are also capitalized as well as the word following a colon (subtitle). Journal titles should have every major word capitalized. • Italicize journal titles, volume numbers and even the comma following the journal title. Do not italicize issue numbers (i.e., the number which appears in parentheses after the volume number). • References cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa. The only exceptions to this rule are personal communications and secondary sources, which are...

Student Guide Paper

...Student Guide for Paper 1 Spring, 2012 Due by February 6, 2012, 11:59 p.m., Texas Time 1. Write a short term paper on a business / economics topic of your choice. Think of this paper as a short literature review. Note 1: Your research papers must be your own original work!  Be sure to give proper credit when you borrow or use someone else's words and ideas, including your own previously written works. See the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association pages 15-16 for specific information on Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism. If proper credit is not given to the work of others, the paper will be assigned a grade of 0. Note 2: If you choose to use the same topic for Paper 1 and for Paper 2, remember that your review of related literature for Paper 1 will be part of the research design you develop in Paper 2. Choose sources for Paper 1 that will fit well with the research design you plan to develop in Paper 2. Note 3: Write your paper in third person. Scholarly works such as Paper 1 generally are written in third person to avoid reader concern about bias in an empirical study. 2. Use APA formatting. A large portion of your grade will be based on formatting. The items below provide basic APA formatting information that will help you as you begin the formatting process. You may have a formatting need, however, that is not covered in this basic information. You are responsible for reading all...
