...blue) warp and white filling threads; it is also woven in colored stripes. The name is said to have originated in French serge de Nimes. The word comes from the name of a sturdy fabric called serge. Denim was originally called serge de Nimes, it was then soon shortened to Denim. Denim is yard-dyed and mill-finished and is usually all-cotton, although considerable quantities are of a cotton-synthetic fiber mixture. Decades of use in the clothing industry, especially in manufacture of overalls and trousers were worn for heavy labour such as construction workers and electrical workers. Denim has demonstrated denim’s durability. This quality also made denim serviceable for leisurewear in the late 20th Century. Denim is a rugged cotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two or more warp fibers. This produces the familiar diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric, which distinguishes denim from cotton duck. It is a twill-weave woven fabric that uses different colors for the warp and weft. One color is predominant on the fabric surface. Because of this twill weave, it means the fabric is very strong. I believe Denim is the most amazing fabric out there it’s versatile, it’s tough, its durable,, its easy to work with, its fashionable, its warm I mean I can go one with how great denim is. I mean everyone owns denim. Once before it was only worn by workers and it was popular because of the durability and tough texture. In1800’s American gold miners wanted...

...Colorfastness refers to the resistance of color to fade or bleed of a dyed or printed textile materials against water, light, rubbing, washing, perspiration etc. to which they are normally exposed in textile manufacturing and in daily use. Colorfastness to Rubbing Colorfastness to rubbing test is designed to determine the degree of color which may be transferred from the surface of a colored fabric to a specify test cloth for rubbing (which could be dry and Wet). Crockmeter is the main equipment used in this test. Crockmeter uses a standard pressure and rubbing motion to provide reliable and reproducible test results. Specimens are positioned on the base of the Crockmeter and held in place with the sample holder. The rubbing action is provided by an acrylic "finger" which moves in a straight line with each complete turn of the crank. The reciprocating load arm is weighted to provide a constant 9N load on the sample at all times and a mechanical counter keeps track of completed cycles. Then, the result of the specimen is evaluated using the grey scale of staining. Colorfastness to Washing The main test method of the colorfastness to washing is carried out called AATCC standard detergent WOB (without optical brightener). The test measures the resistance to water of any colored textiles. Launder-moester is the main equipments used with the help of grey scales. Testing procedure (Usages) 1. Attach the multifiber fabric to specimen by sewing or stapling. 2. Place the sample...

...PREFACE: To The Evaluators Of My Training Program If we look at our surroundings, all the human beings would be wearing some cloth, most of which is woven. Today the average consumption of textile products per person per year is 6.7 Kg. The world population has crossed the six billion figure, so more than 40 million tons of fabric is utilized by the mankind of world each year. Indeed both consumption per person and population are increasing at a faster pace. Consumption per person is confidently expected to increase after December 2004, as WTO would eliminate the quota costs, import duties and other such tariffs. To be competitive in the textile market, the manufacturers of this industry will have to transfer this benefit of low cost to the customers, which in turn would encourage the customers to buy more. This process would yield economies of scale for the producers and thus the textile companies will achieve enormous growth. Pakistan has competitive edge over many other countries in the textile industry, so it will more focus and capitalize on this concern. This gives a view of future prospects of opportunities in textile and importance of textile products. More specifically the shade, look, handfeel of fabric and durability of shade are the crucial factors of concern for the textile customers (these factors are expected to gain more attention of customers in future). These factors are complied in dyeing processes. Kohinoor Dyeing Mills Ltd. (KDML) is involved in the business...

...Bangladeshi garment manufacturing industry has boomed into a $19 billion dollar a year industry[5] following the expiry in 2005 of an international agreement on textiles and clothing import quotas in place since the early 1960’s[6], duty-free access offered by western countries, and low labour costs. The Bangladeshi textile and garment manufacturing sector is fuelled by young, urbanizing, workers many of whom are women. With the majority of production destined for U.S. and European markets, Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry now accounts for approximately 78% of total exports[7], second only to China as the world’s largest apparel exporter. However, Bangladesh has a long history of health and safety tragedies in garment and textile manufacturing. Garment factory fires and collapses have killed at least 1800 workers since 2005[8]. The Tazreen Fashions fire on 24th November 2012 and the unprecedented disaster of the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory complex on 24 April 2013, together resulting in the tragic death of over 1,200 garment workers are examples of the most recent and highly publicised disasters. The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh is designed to make all garment factories safe workplaces and is specifically developed to deal with the unique challenges facing the ready-made garment and textile industry in Bangladesh....

The front of my bed throws background will be made from my own coloured fabric which I shall be dying it blue and using salt technique for a much creative background scene. The man and woman that I have designed on my throw will be made from, batik, appliqué, transfer print and silk painting as the more techniques my product has the more appealing it is to my customer and target market. My design will also be outlined in black hand embroidery so that my design stands out from the background. (2013) Promoting the Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Standards to Ensure Sustainable Development of Textile Enterprises in Vietnam http://www.ietecconference.com/ietec13/conferenceproceedings2013/papers/Wendesday/WP3/WP3.5_submission_117.pdf Implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) is one of the requirements that enterprises need to observe to ensure green growth towards sustainable development. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been conventionally defined as a voluntary humane activity in solving social and charitable problems. Recently, however, there is a new school that advocates strong intervention by the state and society, including the need for legislation to strengthen the CSR of enterprises, instead of leaving it to their individual discretion. “Sustainable development (SD) is the development of using available natural resources and environmental conditions not only to meet the needs of human beings but also to ensure the necessary environmental and resource conditions for future generations so that they can live better" [WCED, 1987]. The sustainable development of a society is judged by certain criteria in all three aspects: the economy, society and environment and natural resources. These criteria are different in countries which have different levels of development. In general, however, in order to obtain sustainable development, they must balance all three objectives: the economy, society and...

...New textile policy brings in Rs 3,800 cr investment The Hindu Business Line: October 22, 2012 Mumbai: The textile sector is on the upswing in Maharashtra due to the new textile policy. Since April, the State has managed to attract Rs 3,834 crore in investments in 411 new textile projects, said State Textile Minister Arif Naseem Khan on Monday. Addressing the media after reviewing the process of policy implementation, Khan said that the new projects would provide about 30,000 jobs in the State. Most of the investment has happened in cotton spinning and ginning units. Textile companies are keen to set up units in Vidarbha, Marathwada and the Khandesh due to the ready supply of cotton, he said. “Due to the policy, the sector is likely to get Rs 40,000 crore investment in the next five years and generate employment for 11 lakh people,” Khan said. Khan said that the policy was not a single-window policy but a ‘zero-window policy,’ in which projects would not come to the Government for clearance, The due diligence is done by banks. If a company manages to get its loan sanctioned under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme from banks, then it is eligible for subsidy, he said. The Union Government initiated the Scheme in 1999, and it has attracted over Rs 4 lakh crore investments in the sector, as of date. Textile Secretary Sunil Porwal said that all the 411 projects have achieved financial closure. For the Rs 3,834 crore investments, about Rs 400 crore will be the subsidy...
