INTEGRATED CASE STUDY

PRE-REQUISITE: BAC3634 CORPORATE ACCOUNTING 1 BAC2624 MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING 2

OBJECTIVES
This is a capstone course for the Bac. Acc (Hons) programme which integrates knowledge from financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, audit, finance, management and business related technology and other social science courses. Experiential exercises are embedded in this course to support learners’ effort in independent learning.

The assessments for this course will be made up as follows: a. Case analysis (individual & group) Report/Class activity (40%) + Self-learning diary (10 marks) | 50% | b. Mid-trimester examination | 20% | c. Final examination | 30% | TOTAL | 100% |

There will be FOUR cases in total.
Each students MUST READ the case on their own PRIOR TO CLASS. Students should take notes in their Self-Learning Diary of their understanding of the case.
Students will be assigned into groups randomly during class. There will be two group cycles i.e. for two cases each. As a group, you will discuss the case and meet the requirements for that particular case. The requirements may be in terms of class presentation or a written report.
WRITTEN REPORT
All assignments must be typed on one side of paper with 1.5 line spacing (Use MS Words or Excel where appropriate). Deadlines will be provided by the facilitator. Late submission will cause deduction of marks.
Marks will only be given to those whose names and signatures are on the assignment cover. It is your responsibility to ensure that your name and student ID no. is on it. APPEALS WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED. Those whose names do not appear on any assignments will be automatically assumed to have not submitted the assignment.
The cover page that should accompany the report is in Appendix A.
ORAL PRESENTATION/ROLE PLAY/CLASS ACTIVITIES
The script and slides/storyboard for the oral presentation must be submitted to the facilitator prior to performance. Clearly identify the order of speakers or identity of actors.

b. Mid-semester Examination (20%
Tentatively in Week 8.
There will be a mini case. Several short questions will be asked based on that case.
c. Self-Learning Diary (10%)
Each student must purchase a small notebook (minimum 20 pages). Notes must be taken for each class. * Understanding of the cases and Questions that came to mind * Observations of own and other’s behaviour and the consequences * Self-assessment * personal learning blocks and ways to deal with them. * personal plan of continued skills improvement. * Record execution of the plan and its results
This notebook should be submitted to your facilitator by 15th May 2015.
