Thaddeus Kosciuszko was raised up in Mereczowszczyzna, Poland. He was born on February 4, 1746. His parents were Ludwik and Tekla Kosciuszko. He went to school before resuming to his engineering studies in Paris. Since he was a skilled engineer, he brought his talents to America to fight for their independence. Kosciuszko was commission as the colonel engineers by the continental congress. They impacted America's fight for independence from Britain.
During 1776 August, he transfers to the Pennsylvania Committee of Defense in Philadelphia. Also, he took part in creating a plan for the fortifications to defend the residents of the continental congress against the British. He received the rank of engineer colonel for the help. He supported a government where they did not abuse their power and took rights away from the people.

Thaddeus got inspired by the declaration of independence in America. After the colonies in America defeated Britain, Thaddeus returned to Poland in 1784 to help his country independence from surrounding European powers. Thaddeus was considered a major hero of the 1789 insurrection. He won notorious victories in Raclawice on April 4, 1794, first Warsaw and then Wilno got liberated from enemy occupation. Kosciuszko did this by recruiting an army of peasants and people, having them equipped with pikes and traditional scythes because they had no war industry. He a smashing victory at Raclawice (April 4), won by the scythe-bearing formations under Kosciuszko’s command. People were praising him for defending Warsaw, and this leads the people to have more faith in defending their territory. Before the next fight, the territory well armed.
