The 2009 Jakarta bombings paper Introduction
The Jakarta Marriot International and Ritz-Carlton Bombings were tragic events that took place. That left that many victims, business owners also first responders with physical wounds but also mental. These attacks have shown that strategies needed and should be required to help in the effort of the terror attacks as such. Therefore, they can help; all of the innocent parties involve dealing with this horrifying disaster in help with recovering from it. In this paper, it will discuss the matter like briefly describe the incident. Explain the viewpoints of local businesses regarding contingency planning. Evaluate the psychological effect of the terrorist incidents on local businesses. Assess how business leaders addressed the human impact of terrorist events also the conclusion. That will aid and express in this tragic matter. Briefly explanation
On 2009, in Indonesia there was a terrorist attack done by suicide bombers at the JW Marriot and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta, the bombings struck five minutes apart from each other. Where nine victims killed and 50 others injured because of the blast. Both of the bombers had checked into both hotels a couple of days before the attack. The aftermath was horrible; the police later found bomb-making materials in one of the rooms that belonged to a bomber. The Indonesian government started their investigations while the also the hotels attempted to restore their damages done at their Airlangga Restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton and that the Marriot at a room that had rented for a meeting that was set up for prominent CEO including the president of Indonesia who was among the guests attending. The attack created an atmosphere of panic. However, calm restored and even the hotels were able to open within two weeks of the assault in August of 2009. Contingency Planning Although September 11, 2001, brought about drastic changes to risk management and critical incident management plans to prepare society better on techniques to guard against attacks, and on how to effectively respond and recover, the attacks did not stop. On July 17, 2009, suicide bombers bombed the Ritz Carlton and Marriott Hotels. Although that had robust security, security efforts still fell short, and bombers were able to set off explosives. Although the security was tight with surveillance cameras, and strict screenings, nine people lost their lives in the bombing. Although lives lost and over fifty people injured, local businesses were confident surrounding the security and quick response to the incident and how victims cared for in the event. Their viewpoints, for the most part, was very positive regarding the contingency planning put forth by the hotel to protect the customers. Residents of the hotel provided interviews, exclaiming they already felt safe due to the strong security and was very intrigued by the response to the incident and the care offered to those injured and affected by the event (Stewart and Burton, 2009). No one held the hotels responsible for what took place at the Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels; they praised the response and recovery efforts put forth. By the security management team and made comments more so or less on the way in which medical responders took care of those, which were injured, and how without the efforts of the security team sensing an issue, more lives would have lost that day. Although they praised the efforts of the security team and first responders, many local businesses feel the need for more training and screening to prevent attackers from making it inside establishments such as hotels. The concern with these types of measures financial matters. Evaluate the psychological effects
“Terrorism erodes the sense of security and safety people usually feel”, ("Http://www.ptsd.va.gov/," 2016). The feeling that something else may happen again is a reasonable and very logical conclusion to draw when someone experiences anything tragic in life, especially something as life changing as terrorism. For those who affected in any way because of the bombings at the Jakarta Marriot International and Ritz-Carlton, many will always have a lasting impression that lingers in the years that will make up their lives also the sense of PTSD is very likely to appear. Those who own local businesses around this area do have things to be concerned about because of this matter. Considering that they were so close to the awful events of that day, and the hotels bring many customers and money into their businesses, it would be very safe to say that these bombings will have a direct effect on the operations, success, and the existence of their businesses. The resilience and the possibility of making a comeback from an incident such as this with this type of magnitude are very possible. However, without the people to come and support the local businesses, there is also a huge possibility that these firms will suffer to the point of no return another sad and unfortunate effect of terrorism. The human impact of terrorist events
The way in which business leader addresses the human impact on terrorism events is the overall strategies for getting ready the public. The appropriate resources to reply to Hugh scale traumatic events can organize according to specific populations like the first responder, victims, etc. “Also according to phases of the disaster like long term, acute also pre -post -disaster post +event these tactics as such can split into two factions with distinct but overlapping objectives”( Kamien, D,2012). The first one is to give rapid physical management to aid for useful for public health also emergency response tactics. By mitigating also preventing psychological anguish also, frighten as well as lower likely demands that unneeded on the system health care. The second is to lower each the long term also the short-term psychological morbidity. “ Regular response o an emergency such as a disaster event likely deal with deploying qualified mental health experts to the areas directly impacted this agency can be various mental health organizations also American red cross”( Kamien, D,2012). They then become able to help give crisis counseling also management as well screening mental health matters also give psychological first aid also supportive counseling for those who are and assistance. It might be funding resources from the FEMA agency to provide a psycho-educational support to society also make certain counseling services are there for them unit they make a full recovery. To repeat these forms of tactics that are traditional have most likely applied by skilled mental health professionals can those requesting them. Although the methods must also adapt applied to other populations that might not be with the traditional emergency response system mostly those while screening not known needed such services also those that might not feel contented about coming forward for aid. Also, more training dealing forms of consequence also effective methods for mitigating them might require the individual gives groups that will portray a significant role in responding to the different psychological required that likely to increase mental health specialists unofficial care contributor also other existing social support system within the society. Conclusion
The bombings of the Marriot International and Ritz-Carlton showed that many resources needed to help the innocent people and the first responders recover from these terrible events. Like psychological counseling from experts train to deal with these kind of matters. The federal aid from FEMA or other government agency helps them obtain the resources for training also the psycho-educational materials to support society. The critical incident management plans to assist them in combat against terrorist attacks to safeguard the business owners; their guest also helps the first responders. These measures have to be taking to make sure terrorist events; as such will not happen again.

Compare and Contrast the Pre and Post 9/11 Law Enforcement Response to Terrorism. What Strategies Could Be Implemented to Increase Future Law Enforcement Capability in Countering Terrorism?

...police actions towards terrorist related incidents since 9/11, displays how law enforcement agencies have demonstrated their ability to respond to the various threats of terrorism as they arise. “Since 2001, numerous terrorist attacks have been thwarted in Australia. Thirty-eight people have been prosecuted as a result of counter-terrorism operations and 20 people have been convicted of terrorism offences under the Criminal Code.” (Counter-Terrorism White Paper, 2010, p. ii) Australia’s State and Federal policing agencies have ‘a long tradition of reactive patrol’ (White, 2012, p. 487) However, uniformed policing plays an important role in counter-terrorism operations. Due to their knowledge and close working relationships within the local community, police are in the best position to detect and prevent terrorist actions from occurring. “So far, terrorist attempts in Australia have been disrupted by the coordinated and highly professional efforts of Australia’s security agencies and police services” (Counter-Terrorism White Paper, 2010, p. 14) The Australian Government has defined terrorism as “the use of violence by groups or individuals pursuing political objectives.” Additionally it states that “Terrorists are frequently indiscriminate in their...

...an Islamic state later joined the group. The insurgency consumed much of the country’s military which resulted to its downfall. A man named Abu Bakar Bashir who joined Darul Islam in 1970 and shares the same ideal of an Islamic State was responsible for the creation of a certain boarding school in Java whose motto was "Death in the way of Allah is our highest aspiration." It attracted the poor and oppressed who were then trained in preparation for the revolution. Unluckily, Bashir was imprisoned for Islamist Activism due to this revolution attempt. To escape from his prison sentence, Bashir fle to Malaysia and became a religious teacher. He taught and preached the ideology of an Islamic state in Indonesia by waging a jihad. He recruited ‘paper’ revolutionaries who ‘talked’ jihad but didn’t ‘walk’ jihad. In the year 1985, Bashir went back to Indonesia but he was ordered back to prison. He escaped again by flying to Malaysia where he was able to recruit volunteers for the anti-Soviet Muslim brigades in Afghanistan because of the funds given by Saudi. It was said that...

Fiscal Policy Evolution and Distributional Implications: the Indonesian Experience

...THE IDEAs WORKING PAPER SERIES Paper no. 01/2012 Fiscal Policy Evolution and Distributional Implications: The Indonesian experience Smitha Francis Abstract This paper analyses Indonesia’s resource mobilisation and public expenditure policies against the backdrop of her inequality trends and macroeconomic policy evolution. It is argued that the country’s fiscal policy stance has been adversely impacted by her monetary and financial sector policies under an open capital account, with attendant regressive distributional implications. Juxtaposing the analysis of revenue mobilisation trends and taxation policies with the evidence of increasing asset and land concentration and persisting high inequalities reveals that the increase in income tax revenue did not necessarily come from the upper income profiles or corporate profits. Meanwhile, although government expenditure to GDP ratio has improved after 2003, capital expenditures and social expenditures other than those in education continue to remain low. Further, the current pattern of fiscal decentralisation does not seem to be effective in addressing the existing disparities. ...Authoritarianism Authoritarianism is a form of social organization characterized by submission to authority. It is usually opposed to individualism and democracy. In politics, an authoritarian government is one in which political authority is concentrated in a small group of politician. Characteristics Authoritarianism is characterized by highly concentrated and centralized power maintained by political repression and the exclusion of potential challengers. It uses political parties and mass organizations to mobilize people around the goals of the regime. Authoritarianism emphasizes the rule of the few; it often includes election rigging, political decisions being made by a select group of officials behind closed doors, a bureaucracy that sometimes operates independently of rules, which does not properly supervise elected officials, and fails to serve the concerns of the constituencies they purportedly serve. Authoritarianism also tends to embrace the informal and unregulated exercise of political power, a leadership that is "self-appointed and even if elected cannot be displaced by citizens' free choice among competitors," the arbitrary deprivation of civil liberties, and little tolerance for meaningful opposition; A range of social controls also attempt to stifle civil society, while political stability is maintained by control over and support of the armed forces, a pervasive bureaucracy staffed by the regime, and creation of allegiance through various means of socialization and...
