INTRODUCTION

Quality education is the most important thing in our lives (Bernard, 1999, as cited by UNICEF, 2000). They say that it is the key to success - which is true while money is our need to be able to sustain our necessities. But people nowadays cannot wholly sustain their daily needs leaving students into thinking that they may do something to help their parents by engaging themselves to work. The number of employment rate in the Philippines nowadays is increasing (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2015). With this impressive increase of statistical record on labor and employment, we can assume that working students are involved. Nevertheless, the people who have graduated are more likely under the unemployed statistical rate.

Being a working student is very admiring. They need to work to be able to sustain their education, but the downside of it all is that they may prioritize work over studies. Blinded by the power of money, education is left behind as though it did not help them get to where they are today. Sheila Marie A. Ibe, 2nd year college taking BS Airline Business Administration in Philippine Air Transport and Training Services (PATTS), is a working student in Jollibee Parañaque as a Cashier Lady. It is not that they cannot sustain daily needs but it is because she wants to put herself out in the real world and experience the feeling of having a salary after a month-long of hard work. Cedie Santos who graduated at Montessori School last June 15 had also been a working student. He says that it is not easy; you need to know your priorities so your goals are set to be achieved and that time management is very important, too.
Based on the researchers’ observation, the number one prevailing problem of being a working student is being tired. The tendency of going through a day at work could leave you drained and, worse, find it hard to recharge for tomorrow's class. But being absent for such reason could not be allowed by the institution. Simply pointing out that education is still the most important instrument of all. This research would help readers to focus on the life of a working student and remember the real essence of education.
