Does every conflict have a winner? This question is very hard to answer because of the type of

conflict that may be involved. To answer the question at a logical standpoint yes, every conflict

does have a winner to some extent, but when you really look at it from an internal standpoint

does not have a winner. In the stories "Amigo Brothers", "Two Kinds", and one of my own

stories , have conflict that can make you pick either side of the argument. So, does every

conflict have a winner?

The short story "The Amigo Brothers" is an ambitious story which has different types of

conflict. "The Amigo Brothers" is a story about two friends that have a fight arranged against

In the story, the amigo brothers

end up fighting each other. After the amigo brothers fight, one of the brothers is crowned the

winner, but before the winner is announced the amigo brothers leave hand in hand not caring

one bit about who won the match. This shows how in this conflict no one really wins because

the brothers still leave as friends even though, the match was still won. There is really no

winner is this senario.

The deep story "Two Kinds" is a very heart breaking story about about a daughter who

doesn't feel what her mother wants her to be. After an argument about the character's thoughts,

Amy shouts something that her mother did not take something too well and her mother shuts up

and loses the argument. Afterwards, Amy does not have a great relationship with her mom only

later for her mom to die. In "Two Kinds," there is a big conflict and it is resolved but another

conflict emerges and doesn't get resolved. This story does have a winner, and it's Amy. Amy

wins the argument when she screams the sensitive comment to her mother, but she ends up

losing anyway because she hurt her mom's feelings. "Two Kinds" is a win/lose situation
