Nowadays the art of photography has become widespread among young people. They go to clubs and galleries, fashion shows and marts to take photos, for which they earn money and some become famous. And the idea that the presence of a professional camera makes you a professional photographer put into heads of modern youth. It is difficult to say if this is good or bad for photography as an art form. The modern attitude towards the art of photography has changed the art itself. Now it is a part of mass culture. And this is good because statistics show that in recent days the number of visits to galleries has increased. People thus spend more time touching the beautiful and seeing their history. The art of photography is a witness to so many events that it is good method of passing information thought years. This art form has the ability to freeze time in a second. It is difficult for us to read literary sources written in Middle English, because it contains different constructions and characters. But when we see a photo dated 1964 with four Englishmen in an airport, we understand that it is the world famous band The Beatles. The written languages changes but not the language of photography. Our ancestors from now may hardly understand us, but we can leave our photos for them.
High-quality photographic equipment becomes more affordable. Almost every second person has a professional camera but generally amateur pictures are technical defects. Information is more available than ever before. It is necessary to type a query in a search engine line and you'll get tons of information. But there is less knowledge. People are increasingly confused about the basic concepts and become lazy in learning the theory. Bookshelves are crammed with literature, but there are almost no worthy books on photography. Everywhere there are banners of training courses that promise to teach the art of photography, even a monkey - but interesting photos are few and far between. In fact, digital photography made the art of photography a part of mass culture. Of course, technological advances have led to the fact that during the shooting people have stopped to think about the scenes. But it is naive to believe that only the development of techniques will fill the pictures with the meaning. In the era of the film only enthusiasts went in for photography developing in darkened bathrooms and kitchens. Today the dark room is replaced by Photoshop. Digital photography has created the illusion of complete control over the image. Modern digital photographers are trying to achieve some aesthetic form according to their tastes and concepts. But in pursuit of the aesthetic sense is often lost and the aesthetic form without the spirit is transformed into nothing.
In my opinion this is one of the absolutely painful trends of professional digital photography. For some reason, many well-known photographers as well as photography schools suggest the idea that everyone can become a professional photographer just coping with laws of composition, color combinations, etc. But in my judgment this art has neither part nor lot in classic art of photography. Thoughtful viewers will notice fake. And we have to get used to the fact that coming to the level of mass culture everything lose its value.
