You are planning to spend no less than $5,000 and no more than $9,000 on your landscaping project. a) Write an inequality that demonstrates how much money you will be willing to spend on the project. $5,000 ≤ $9,000 b) Suppose you want to cover the backyard with decorative rock and plant some trees as the first phase of the project. You need 20 tons of rock to cover the area. If each ton cost $50 and each tree is $85, what is the maximum number of trees you can buy with a budget for rock and trees of $3,000? Write an inequality that illustrates the problem and solve. Express your answer as an inequality and explain how you arrived at your answer. 20 x $50 = $1,000 $3,000 - $1,000 = $2,000 left for trees $2,000/$85...

...Rested myself on the grass made me feel so comfortable. I looked at my neighbor’s backyard on my right. There’s something that I was attracted to. Pumpkins, carved pumpkins: my first time seeing carved pumpkins with my own eyes. They were once innocent little pumpkins in a pumpkin patch, but after removing their guts (the seeds in the orange stringy goo inside) and scraping them clean, candle can be placed inside and lit. The pumpkins have been transformed into scary, creepy, or even ridiculously funny objects, portraying the fun Halloween spirit. If Halloween is just around the corner, I might need to buy something to celebrate it with my friends. After a while, I turned myself to the left, looking at my other neighbor’s backyard. There was...

Pros of the Hanging Fanback Porch Swing Amish-made Made in the USA Knot-free yellow pine Can hold several adults Durable construction Hanging hardware included Cons of the Swinging Day Bed Curbside delivery only First Impressions We've reviewed quite a few porch swings, but this is one of our favorites. The back of the swing is an unusual shape, so you could easily leave the back unadorned with pillows to highlight that design element. It's a wide 6-foot day bed that can take a thick cushion. This will turn it into a relaxing bed instead of just a swing to sit on while enjoying the outdoors. You could even use this as a place for your toddler to nap while you soak in the peace and quiet of nature....

...fall is 750 billion pounds. In order to answer this question, I considered the trees by my own house. The tree in my backyard is a large oak tree. Rather than attempt to approximate the number of leaves on the tree and the mass of one leaf, I considered how much a 13 gallon bag weighs when it is filled with leaves that have fallen off the tree. After raking the leaves, I do my best to fit as many leaves as possible into the bag, which means the leaves often crumble as I keep putting in more and more leaves. From my experience last fall, the bag weighs about 5 pounds. However, my estimate of the bag’s weight is based on perception; I know for certain that the bag is neither as light as two or three pounds nor as heavy as nine or ten pounds. Therefore, my best estimate of the weight of the bag is 5 pounds. Furthermore, when raking the leaves, I usually fill up three bags (I rake the leaves only once). As such, in one fall season, I collect about 15 pounds of leaves from a single tree. However, because the tree is large and it is often windy, I am certain that many leaves either fly off into the lake, a neighbor’s house, the roof, and/or the front yard. In addition, it seems implausible to assume that I fit all the tree’s leaves into three garbage bags. Therefore, I estimate that I am only able to collect about half of all the leaves. With this assumption, I conclude that the tree in my yard loses about 30 pounds of leaves. From this point on, it would be a simple matter to multiply...

...nudged it with a lot of strength and effort, and I prudently stepped onto the back porch so that I don’t slip and fall, now I had a full view of my backyard, a wintry paradise enclosed in snow. As I walked down the steps and headed for the sidewalk, the squeaking of the wooden steps combined with the crunch of the snow under my feet felt like two instruments from the orchestra, performing in sweet silence all around me. The white, cottony powder covered the branches of the trees. As I walked down the sidewalk, I saw my car parked under a thick layer of snow .My mischievous dogs ran to meet me, leaving trails of paw prints in the snow. I continued to the driveway and scraped some snow off of the car window, and looked inside. The powder chilled my hand, so I put my hand inside my pocket to warm it, the snow began to fall harder. I wandered around the car, and crunched the snow beneath my feet. I hear birds chirping, and stride to the bird feeder, where several small birds hopped around on the ground. The snow was peppered with tiny holes where seeds had fallen from the bird feeder. The birds flew away as I approached them. I continued walking and scooped up some snow from the ground, shaped it into a rough sphere, and threw it at a tree trunk. The snow scattered, falling from the tree and from all the bushes surrounding the tree. As I treaded past the birdbath, I realized the...

...What I Call Home In life everyone has their own dreams, whether it be about cars, houses, or their career. Most people I know dream to have the biggest and luxurious houses but I was always satisfied with mine. My house is not a tiny apartment nor a huge mansion but a two story, plain brown brick cozy house with white painted doors. The front yard is decorated with beautiful flowers; roses, lilies, violets, dahlias, daisies and much more, my mother usually plant them. She says, "Flowers are a pleasure and perfection of nature, and they give many things to people, and it does not matter if you are rich or poor, they give you a wonderful world which makes you feel happy". It definitely makes her and our neighbors happy. She shares the seeds of her flowers with the neighbors since they love and always compliment her garden. Walking through the front doors of my house after a long day of school always makes me feel so relaxed. There is always a smell of fresh vanilla or brown sugar candles the moment I walk through my white painted door. As I walk up the stairs and I see four bedrooms and a washroom. There is one bedroom for each of us in the family; my parents, brother, sister and myself. I usually go straight to my room when I get home. The walls in my room are painted a nice light green. There’s my bed in the middle of the room, a desk, night table and a closet. I have always wished I had a walk in closet but I'm comfortable with what I have now, this closet does me just fine...

...If someone were to go deep into South Asia, in the southwestern part of India they would find the Muzhayanpunnackal household. Though that is the official name, many people refer to it as the Simon household. The Simon household is in the state of Kerala in a town called Ayroor. When someone first comes across this house, the first thing they will notice are the two tall coconut trees on the front corners of the lot. These coconut trees are about 70 feet tall. In most American households, there is nothing to guard the lot itself but there is a door in front of the house. However, in front of the lot in all Indian houses there is a gate. This gate is about 6 feet tall and is often locked. Once the gate is open there is the “driveway.” Driveway...

...Week 6 Assignment Our team is building a tree house for a family in their backyard within a residential housing area. The project should be completed in thirty business days with a project budget not to exceed $25,000. All legal permits are required in order to start building, and the tree house is expected to be child safe and weather resistant. As a team we have stayed under budget because we have taken into account periodic costs through our risk analysis. As a team we have taken into account tree structural issues and periodic costs could incur here because of using more material to either strengthen by reinforcement with more wood and metal. We have taken into account what tools we need and annotated them in our risk analysis with cost over runs. During the project we may need to purchase extra materials and tools prior to the building phase. We did a good job forecasting such a need, one of the reasons we are still in budget. The only thing on this analysis we cannot account for is bad weather, however we allocated proper storage and workspace for such an event. For this tree building project we took into account the cumulative costs of the project manager, architect, construction workers, CAD design software of the tree house, wood, flooring, windows, doors, roof tiles, paint, insulation, tools, and nets. The cumulative cost of the pre-construction phase is $4,460.00 which includes getting the right personnel, the materials, and the tools for the...
