Fishing was his main hobby. In fact, it was his passion and he did it a lot. He knew everything about fishing because he lived on a river and could do it a lot. The bass that he had on was the biggest bass that he has ever had on the end of his line. He had a choice catching the bass and going past the concert and forgetting about Sheila, or cutting the line and going to the concert and cutting the line. “Twenty yards ahead of us was the road, and once I pulled the canoe up to the shore, the bass would be gone, irretrievably gone.” (Wetherell 31) He chose to cut the line and please the girl instead of following his dream of catching a once-in-a-lifetime bass.
