...One of the underlying facts of the Abrahamic faiths is the concept, that God is simultaneously both omnipotent and Omni-benevolent. They all also argue that God is the single and only cause of the existence of the Universe, and all of its constituents. One of the constituents is the existence of evil. The problem that theists face is, an argument that both atheists and anti-theists use to criticise religion, and question against God; How come Omni-potent God and Omni-Benevolent God, can exist alongside the existence of both Natural and Moral Evil, or at least tolerate it’s occurrence. This comes in the form of the ‘inconsistent triad’ in which , if one were take out either one of the 2 tributes of God, could solve the existence of Evil. To elaborate, if God was omnipotent, though not Omni-benevolent, it would explain, that this God is either Tyrannical, or in a way at the least Sadistic, resembling the God of the Old Testament. On the other hand, if God is Omni-benevolent, he would love humanity, yet does not have the power, to directly prevent it from happening to humanity. Many scholars and theologians, have attempted at solving the problem of evil using theodicies (Justifying the existence of God in the face of evil), two of which were concocted by Irenaean and Leibniz, but include theodicies by St. Augustine and Alfred Whiteheads’ Process theodicy. Irenaeus’ theodicy, argued (like St. Augustine) that moral evil, is the doing of man, by being deviant in their belief in God...

...economies in a positive ways, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss. Globalization has contributed a lot to the world today. It boosts countries economies, advance technologies and improve daily life of the people. But in the meantime whether it is a blessing or a curse has sparked much debate. This is because the benefit of globalization always come with the drawbacks. For me, the advantages of the globalization are outweigh its disadvantages. Convincing argument can be made that globalization has led to advancement in technologies. This advancement has built the new world without boundaries. So, the communication can be made with any other parts of the world through technologies such as internet and telephone. Hence, ideas exchange can be done among intellectuals, journalists, scientists or ordinary people. As a result, the best ideas will be spread all over the world which led to enhance the world achievements. However, there are some disadvantages of the globalization. The absence of boundaries of the world through technologies could create harmful to the people. To illustrate, the access to the bad website in internet such as drugs and pornography could affect people minds. For example, recently, an actor was caught for being involved in drugs processing. He admitted that have learnt the process via internet. So, no boundaries of the world also affect people to change their behavior which related to...

...Facing Adversity At It’s Best Let’s say you are a surfer and about to be the best in town. What do you think will happen when a shark comes up and bites your arm right off? What would you do if as a young child you lost your legs and get looked at weirdly? Everyone who has their limbs should be thankful and less lazy. We all make excuses but Bethany Hamilton and Aimee Mulins don’t. Even though Bethany Hamilton and Aimee Mulins overcame adversity in different ways, it is important to see that they both accepted who they were in life. In both, the film and story both Aimee Mulins and Bethany Hamilton accept who they are in life. For example, Aimee Mulins took her disability to the next level. She didn’t want to be the weird girl with no legs. She wanted to be the fastest woman in the world with cheetah like legs! Who needs real legs when you can be the fastest one of all. She was opened up to much more opportunity. Similarly, Bethany lost her arm from a shark attack and was bitten above the elbow. Without the elbow joint, you can't move your arm. That's why her fake arm would only be for cosmetics. She did not wear the arm, instead she used a special board made just for her. It was built with a handle making it easier for her to...

...who save lives, teach the youth, and many other occupations that have a greater impact on the world as a whole. To provide you with an example, picture a teacher trying to correct some essays, while watching an NBA game, when the game finishes, the teacher realizes that just one of those players have made more money in that game, than the money she makes in two years. Although teachers have a greater impact on the world society as a whole doesn’t give teachers the recognition or pay grade they deserve. On the other hand, athletes are not directly replaceable. There is only one best, active basketball player in the world, and he is LeBron James. We pay to see the best, and he is it. We aren’t satisfied by an inferior team. Moreover, sports as a whole is well-developed to ensure that the best athletes do make it to top billing. I’m comfortable saying LeBron is the best because of his raw performance and stats. There are many analysts and scouts both in the media and in sports organizations who work exhaustively to find the best talent, and from elementary school onward, we have development programs for the athletically gifted. I can’t be entirely certain abroad, but I’m pretty confident that those who excel in sports can find the right venues to feature their skills and move forward if they are truly the best. Professional sports is one of the mostly watched programs in the world: performance is the most important metric for...

...by God. He declared in his Theodicy that God created the world to be the best of all possible worlds, since God, as a benevolent deity, would not have created anything different. This is a difficult assumption for the modern reader to digest, as we are surrounded by examples of evil every day in the news. Leibniz proves the existence of God by a priori and a posteriori arguments. Leibniz declares that there are two kinds of truth: truths of reason, and truths of fact. Truths of reason are a priori, while truths of fact are a posteriori. Truths of reason are necessary, permanent truths, and proceeding from a known or assumed cause to a necessarily related effect (deductive). Truths of fact are contingent, empirical truths relating to or derived by reasoning from observed facts (inductive) (Davidson, 91). Both kinds of truth must have a sufficient reason. Truths of reason have their sufficient reason in being opposed to the contradictoriness and logical inconsistency of propositions which deny them (Davidson, 93). Truths of fact have their sufficient reason in being more perfect than propositions which deny them. The Priori on pre-established harmony in so far as such harmony demands an author, and this is God. The posteriori explains everything that exists must have sufficient reason for existing, and this reason is God. (Davidson, 96) Leibniz used the Monads to expedite his theory of God’s instilled harmony. His best known contribution to metaphysics is his theory of monads...

...produce unhappiness. This theory can take on the form of act utilitarianism although in this essay, I will be focusing solely on hedonistic utilitarianism as well as an objection to this theory, the experience machine objection. Robert Nozick introduced this objection. Following an explanation of both hedonistic utilitarianism and the experience machine objection I will be critically evaluating the objection. I am going to argue that the experience machine objection is valid against hedonistic utilitarianism because there are people who would not plug into the machine. There are some people who prefer to physically do things not just experience them, don’t want to be limited to a man-made reality and want to make a difference in the world. Two key contributors to the normative moral theory of utilitarianism are Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. Utilitarianism specifies what makes an action morally correct or incorrect. The theory suggests, “actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness and wrong, as they tend to produce the opposite of happiness.” (Mill 454) It is a type of consequentialism as even though the act itself may be morally wrong, if it produces the best consequences it is seen as a morally right action. For example, killing one healthy human to use their organs to cure four other humans would be seen as morally wrong however, according the theory of utilitarianism it would produce the greatest amount of utility, thus being seen as moral. Utility...

...modern society, there are still many people don’t know how we best should live our lives. I think The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Matrix both have the similarity of people get learned from mistakes in their lives. At also, the difference of their life is Gilgamesh was afraid of death but in The Matrix, the main character was not afraid of death in his life. First of all, Gilgamesh was afraid of death and he was trying to find immortality. After his friend Enkidu was dead, he could not imagine what death is. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh said, “Despair is in my heart. What my brother is now, that shall I be when I am dead. Because I am afraid of death I will go as best I can to find Utnapishitim whom they call the Faraway, for he as entered the assembly of the gods.”(The Epic of Gilgamesh P97) So he started his journey and tried to find immortality. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh could not find the immortality in the end of his life. In contrast, the main character was not afraid of death in his life. There are two worlds in the main character’s life, one is The Matrix which is a computer program and another world is the real one which is controlled by artificial intelligence. When his friend Mopheus was captured by agents, he decided to come back to The Matrix to save his friend. When Trinity which is his comrade said to him if he is going back to that dangerous area, he probably is not going to come back to the real world again because those agents are too strong to against. ...In today’s globalized world, the theory of world politics that above all else remains most applicable is Realism. As long as human beings have walked this earth, their primary interests have always been exactly the same. Humans have always had a natural interest to survive, and usually will meet this interest at all costs. These natural interests humans have to better position themselves for survival hold true even if it is at the expense of others, which is evident throughout world history and politics. Historically humans have also always struggled for power, and act mostly in their own self-interests in order to position themselves for more power, which ultimately means a better chance of survival. In order to achieve this, these groups work to attain as many resources as possible. Each and every one of these characteristics that humans share are also some of the most basic assumptions of Realism, proving how applicable it is in every society all over the planet (Ferraro Lecture). These viewpoints are very common throughout world politics and always have been. Therefore, as long as humans walk this planet, the ideas of Realism will do so as well. Humans have had a natural interest to survive since the beginning of their existence. One of the most basic fundamentals of realism is that the primary concern of every nation state is survival. This not only means survival for ones self, but for their families and their communities. This basic human instinct has shaped every aspect...

...following examination of British and Danish versions of printed advertisements of Carlsberg beer is to determine role of culture in advertising and compare and contrast how the same brand is advertised in different cultures. I. Danish printed advertisement The poster shows 4 men in the forest having conversation and smiling, meanwhile everyone has a bottle in a hand. The background shows the connection to wild nature: large green trees together with five fallow dears, a magpie, a fox and a pheasant. The men have been hunting, possibly, and decided to take a break. The idea is to illustrate a moment of relaxation and enjoyment of Carlsberg beer in a good company. The slogan “Vores ol brygget pa det bedste vi har” (Our beer. Brewed from the best we have) at the bottom, involves different product characteristics. The first part “Vores ol” awakes the awareness of Danes, because their traditional beer connects people in Denmark. Per contra, the final part focuses on quality of a beverage, which worth to go hunting. The image and the content of a text box creates a unified whole. The advertisement illustrates the traditional myth of drinking beer since hunting is an old tradition and according to the text box "Only 11% of the Danish hunters are hunting to hunt" which implies social interaction with friends. And, therefore, the social belonging to that particular group is related to drinking beer. Furthermore, Carlsberg beer can be seen as a reward for hard-working process, going beyond...
