... • Research the best practices for site navigation. • Find examples of effective site navigation from the Internet. • Identify examples of how you would like your site navigation to work and function. • Take a screen shot of at least one example. • Write a 700- to 1,500-word paper explaining the effective design features. Include the screen shot. • Post your paper as an attachment. I take great pride in making my site look great and also be extremely accessible. There are plenty of sites I visit that actually do not have the best navigational features or even the best looks to them. ESPN.com has always been one of the sites that I visit most frequently. Recently the design changed and I find it overall to be pretty good, but I would not like to mirror my site after its design. Another site that I constantly visit is that of IGN.com. This site used to be designed in a way that I loved. All of the best links could easily be found in the left hand column (Reviews, Previews, Release Dates, Codes and much more). The current site design is much more complicated and they actually left out some of the things that I visited often. It is almost impossible to browse reviews of older games without looking for a specific game. When I picture my website in my head there are a few things that I think of. I would like to have a graphic or banner at the top of the page that gets people attention and lets them know about the site at the same time...

...their new blog site preggers.com and their magazine titled Teen Pregnancy. Gawker wants to see if this site will be a successful business decision. We have already put it up in a focus group and it has already stirred up a lot of anger among a few and others thinking it will be a good idea. We think it is a good business decision in with making this an actual website. The amount of attention that it got already says that it will be a success because it will generate profit from the amount of clicks you will have on the site. Many will go on to criticize and ridicule the site and others will go on to give tips on how to handle pregnancy. Gawker will need: * The right structure. * teams of analyzers, * the right technology, * And the right control over the site for it to be a success. With the way Gawker is and how all its other sites are set up; with their “snarky” attitude with the whole thing. They should do the same to this site as well. Even though that many different media groups such as MTV, TLC, and Oxygen have teen shows that express the teen life and their issues; Gawker will still have a success rate because the shows only have a “reality” based show. Now everyone knows that teens do get pregnant either by choice or not. This site will generate a lot of pop in the media world. Gawker is a network business with many internal structures that make the business a success; with everyone working on different things all the time. This site will have to...

...networking sites available online that any individual can join in hopes to gain opportunities and maintain their career goals. These sites can differ heavily in popularity and focus; most are free but there are many that charge annual fees to join. The choice in whether or not to join a free site or pay site depends heavily on the individual and what he/she is looking to achieve. The free sites offer many benefits that are appealing to a lot of people but the sites with fees offer much more information and learning opportunities. The fee-based sites have many advantages that free sites cannot offer. These sites offer a wide range of benefits and opportunities that any member can take advantage of. Though it costs to join these sites, the membership fee is often very low compared to the amount of benefits that are offered. Additionally, these benefits are much more focused on one area of interest (such as IT), giving the user much more information than most free sites can offer. These fees-based sites offer professional trends, conferences, publications, job listings, product discounts, mentoring, and most even have an interactive learning center to help build your knowledge in your career focus area (Denham, 2011). There are also many networking sites that can be joined for free that are very popular and useful. One such site is LinkedIn. This site has become very popular for networking professionals but lacks in benefits compared to fee based sites. In this site you can...

...to Union Bank of California which allegedly relied on Ernst’s review report in extending $ 7 million to ZZZZ Best Co. I agree with court’s decision because Ernst & Whinney never issued an audit opinion on financial statements it was just a review report which was disclosed. However, I do not justify Ernst & Whinney because the auditors besides from failure to notice ‘red flags’ had done few mistakes which lead to the law suit. The first mistake that the auditors made involved Mr. George Greenspan during the 1986 audit. This was the first audit since ZZZZ Best became a public company and the mistake involved the inspection of the insurance restoration sites. Mr. Greenspan had talked with Tom Padgett, and Mr. Padgett confirmed the insurance contracts were real and showed proper documents to back them up, Mr. Greenspan never actually inspected any of the actual insurance restoration sites. Doing so could have stopped the scam from hurting the public stockholders, especially because they take in such a huge percentage of income for ZZZZ Best. The second mistake involved Ernst & Whinney, was that Greenspan reported during the interview to the congressional subcommittee, that Ernst & Whinney never got in touch with him to talk about ZZZZ. If this conversation occurred, Greenspan might have been able to discuss his neglection to inspect the insurance restoration sites, which therefore could have given Ernst & Whinney a heads up to do so. Ernst & Whinney should have contacted Greenspan...

...1. How can a security framework assist in the design and implementation of a security infrastructure? Designing a working plan for securing the organization s information assets begins by creating or validating an existing security blueprint for the implementation of needed security controls to protect the information assets. A framework is the outline from which a more detailed blueprint evolves. The blueprint is the basis for the design, selection, and implementation of all subsequent security policies, education and training programs, and technologies. The blueprint provides scaleable, upgradeable, and comprehensive security for the coming years. The blueprint is used to plan the tasks to be accomplished and the order in which to proceed. What is information security governance? Governance is “the set of responsibilities and practices exercised by the board and executive management with the goal of providing strategic direction, ensuring that objectives are achieved, ascertaining that risks are managed appropriately and verifying that the enterprise’s resources are used responsibly.”1 Governance describes the entire process of governing, or controlling, the processes used by a group to accomplish some objective. Just like governments, corporations and other organizations have guiding documents—corporate charters or partnership agreements—as well as appointed or elected leaders or officers, and planning and operating procedures. These elements in combination provide...

...Effective Site Navigation Jenny Marrero WEB/236 March 26, 2012 Mary Paquet Effective Site Navigation A Web page should provide a visitor with clear, easy-to-find information. This is why the navigation of a site is very important. By following the best practices of navigation, designers should have no troubles creating a site that is easy to use for any type of visitor. J & A Beagles, a new company looking for fresh ideas should consider these practices for navigation when creating their Web site so each page has maximum usability for their users. Navigation Bars Thinking too much while visiting a Web site concerning navigation usually ends in frustration. The worst case scenario involves the visitor leaving the site altogether. A site should provide extremely easy navigation from one page to the next and also allow a visitor to find the Home page or previously viewed pages with little to no effort. If the navigation on a site is easy to use, a person who knows nothing about surfing the Web can navigate through the site with no help. One way to make navigation simple is by using a navigation bar. Usually a site provides a horizontal navigation bar, but when a site contains a large amount of content, a vertical bar is provided as well. Bath & Body Works uses both on its site (Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2) Figure 1.1 Figure 1.2 These six “buttons” allow visitors to find exactly what they need. By hovering over the first three buttons (Category, Fragrance, or...

...market, trade barriers have fallen in the past five years, and European markets have opened up, and as a result, European businesses have expanded, there is more competition, and their customers have become increasingly demanding and focused on quality. As a result of the expanding European market, AIAI needs to start the process of selecting a new site for its European warehouse/distribution center. The European headquarters for AIAI are located in Hamburg. The VP of Construction and Development in Dayton, Ohio asked the Hamburg office to do a preliminary site search based on five factors: location, geography, transportation, proximity to customers, and costs. The Hamburg office also found five potential sites in Dresden, Lodz, Hamburg, Gdansk, and Frankfurt. In addition, the Hamburg office forwarded information about these sites to the Corporate headquarters that include the forecasts of the number of containers shipped annually for each location: Vienna, 160; Leipzig, 100; Budapest, 180; Prague, 210; Krakow, 90; Munich, 120; and Frankfurt, 50. In order to assist AIAI with its site selection in Europe based on the five potential sites, there are a few techniques that are outlined in the text which will allow me to analyze the data. I utilized the load distance...

...Research design and research strategies: overview and distinctive features 2. Problem of safety on construction sites For the safety on construction sites: The degree to which the research question has been crystallized: Exploratory study. It is just a study to gain insights on the topic. The method of data-collection: Monitoring or interrogation/communication, It really depends on how they want to approach the situation. I think the method of interrogation and communication is the best, as the workers on the site probably know best where the dangers are to the safety on the construction site. The power of the researcher to influence the variables under study: Experimental, the researcher shouldn’t influence the variables since then the conclusions taken from the research will be false or biased. The purpose of the study: causal. We want to learn the causes of working accidents so the chances that these situations occur can be reduced to a minimum. The time dimension: ? The topical scope – breadth and depth – of the study: this really depends on whether we want to collect information over multiple construction sites, or just one construction site. If we want to learn general ideas about all construction sites in a certain region or from a certain company it would be best to use a census or sample type approach. If we want to gain information about a particular site, a case study seems the most efficient and cost effective way to approach the situation. The research environment:...

...and cold recovery sites. Cold recovery sites This is an appropriately configured room or space in a building with no server-related equipment pre-installed. It provides power, cooling and office which is used in case of an outage or disaster in the main work site. The staff moves to this site when a disaster is declared. It does not include any backed up copies of the data and information from the main or original work site location. For this reason it is considered the most inexpensive backup as there is minimal start-up cost. However, it takes more time to have it running at a capacity almost the same or the same as that of the original site before the disaster. For the service to be restored, the last backups from the off-site storage locations must be delivered and a few hardware components set up before recovery can start. Hot recovery site This is an exact copy of the main work site of the organization or the datacenter, it is actually said to mirror the original site. It is equipped with full computers and complete backups for the user data. There also servers, cooling systems power and an office space (if needed). Using a wide area network and specialized software, the site is run concurrently with the original site to provide an immediate failover system in case of a disaster. It takes the organization few hours or less to recover from a disaster with minimal losses. An organization can have the capacity to relocate all the personnel to the hot site if necessary. This...

...Trade Area Analysis: The Example of Best Buy in the Toronto Area Part A: Trade area delimitation for Best Buy stores 1. There are 10 Best Buy stores shown on the map. They are almost evenly distributed all over Toronto. However, those stores are a little more concentrated in the southwest part of Toronto city, where are more densely populated. Apparently, Best Buy aims to serve all customers in Toronto. Each store is relatively some distance away from another to avoid overlapping market and at the same time cover larger market area. 2. Possible new locations can be identified, by applying Thiessen polygon technique to Map One. In theory, the vertices of boundary lines are considered to be the best sites for new stores. These locations are identified as poorly served areas as people in these areas have to travel a relative long distance to reach a Best Buy store. Moreover, stores in such locations are less likely to compete with other Best Buy stores around it. Possible new stores are identified by little triangles. There are nine spots identified as possible new locations of Best Buy stores. Among all the locations, West Site location seems rather unrealistic. Although it falls right on the junction of boundaries, it is right where the Pearson International Airport is. People are sparsely populated in this area. If opening a new store there, the market area will be mainly occupied by the airport. It will not make much difference. Similarly, spot six falls on the Toronto...
