...Leadership and Management Paper LDR\300 October 26, 2015 LYNN SQUIRE LYNN SQUIRE LYNN SQUIRE LYNN SQUIRE Lynn Squire Leadership and Management You really cannot define leadership because it can mean many different meaning to different people. But for the most part leadership brings out the best in people you want to inspire and motivate people to pledge their energies, services and gifts to provide an organization's vision. Leadership seeks to find new prospects for people and the organization to be success in the future. This means dealing first with very tough situations that exposed survival today. In attempting those coercions leadership still finds a way to create a better future and grasp opportunities. The purpose of management is getting people together to complete desired goals and purposes using available resources efficiently and effectively. Since organizations can be understood as systems, management can also be well-defined as human action, including a plan, to simplify the invention of useful results from a system. This view opens the opportunity to manage yourself, along with an effort to effectively manage others. The key transformation between leaders and managers is that leaders have people shadow them while managers have people who work for them. The difference between managers and leaders would lie in the conception they hold deep in their minds Examples Managers has his eyes on the bottom line leader has his eye on the horizon Managers...

...would be hard working, honest, teamwork and intelligent. These are the four biggest things I believe a company must look for in the people they are hiring because together they make an unstoppable force with ambition and intellectual moves other companies may have not even thought of yet. Hard working is an important value to have because you want your company to be continuously improving. Your company will not improve if you have slackers all around. Back in the day if someone had ganggreen they would chop off the part of the body they had it on in order to preserve the rest of the body. I see slackers similar to gang green. Even if they make a contribution every once and a while they are still hurting the company by not trying all the time. In this case you let that person go in order to find someone that is willing to put forth the effort. Honesty is my personal favorite value because without it nothing functions. If say we knew our government was lying to us and they openly admitted to it our country would fall into chaos because of the instability we would lack. This goes the same way in any company, without honesty from your employees and even better without honesty from your employers there will forever be instability and with that the ability to work. but with honesty the positives are endless. Having honesty within the workplace can create happiness and trust. Trust is used between coworkers in order to create an idea into something grand. Teamwork is big if you want...

...brown and white paint and on his face a little cute star on his fore head. When I am with my pony I feel real happy about life. I like the way when it feels when I ride him I am special. I sometimes ride him through the grape vineyards along besides my parents’ house. I like to gallop and go fast through the rows one by one. I like to gallop through the pastures and get grapes as a walk down the fence line back to the gate. One time I was riding lullaby going real fast through the field he bucked and I almost fell off. I remember I was hanging on to his mane and reigns so tight I felt the burn of my skin blister. Holding on for dear life. I finally got him to pull back and slow down into a trot and then a complete stop. I was holding him stopped. In the fist of my hands one on top of each other. I remember looking in between lullabies ears straight forward so I did not look around and loose balance with the saddle. One ear was going one way. The other one was going the opposite direction. That was the least of my worries at the least of my worries at the time. I was just trying to stay and grab the saddle and stay on. ...“Therapy couldn’t break me. I never learned a word that would insure safety, so I spoke softly and tip-toed often. The door to my room was like a big old coffin, the way that it creaked when I closed it shut. Anxieties peaked when it opened up. As if everything I was thinking would be exposed, I still sleep fully clothed.” This is a verse by Sage Francis from his song The Best of Times. It was the first day of my next great undertaking, college. To many, the first day is full of personal anxieties. The butterflies seem to be tying the knots in your stomach and twisting your tongue with every other sentence that you try to speak to your new colleagues. Regardless of first day jitters, for most people, going into a class, making a presence, and...

...Best practices for managing your time and stress associated with balancing graduate school and other life responsibilities. In graduate schools, many students find very difficult to balance their work and time particularly because of the responsibilities that clash with their education. As such, many students become stressed out there is too little time and so much to attend to (Linden, 2007). To avoid such stressful scenarios, it is imperative for the students to get their priorities straight. This implies that the students should be ready and able to know what matters most in their lives. Having a checklist of the things to do, starting with the one on the highest priority should be the starting point. Besides, students ought to learn to be assertive and how to say no. Apparently, students use up so much time attending to activities that are not very important to them and to their studies (Linden, 2007). Despite the influence of peers, the students should be able to cut down the activities that use up to much of their time. It is important for students to ‘be present’. By this I mean that students ought to focus on each thing at a time. For instance, if a student wishes to visit friend or relatives, they should try to forget about school and be with their friends or relatives. The reverse is also true. Besides, (Linden 2007) articulates that students should find time for themselves to recharge. It is clear that majority of students will find graduate school very demanding...

...“Life’s not out to get you, despite the things you’ve been through…” A quote I will never forget. As a young aspiring musician, there will always be hardships and sinkholes. Three years of work turned to six, and now to nine. Although I fell apart after these fateful days, my achy bones tell a story along with my tattered clothes from each night after that December. 13 year old Jenaro, a wannabe local musician, has his first show only days away from turning 14. The event drew closer and I envisioned it being the best time of my career, possibly my life. That fateful night brought panic attacks, anger, and my deep seeded self-loathing up front to the masses, and I failed myself. A tightly packed crowd watched on as a younger me broke down under my internal turmoil reaching its boiling point. Repression set in, I was certain I’d never pursue music after that night. Secluded, I hid myself for close to a year after that day. I was humbled by my experience, but deeply I knew I couldn’t just give up forever. Mid way through the spring, my phone vibrated in my...

...By Ali Hale We all have times of day when we can race through our to-do list, concentrate effortlessly, and produce our best work. And we all have times of day when we just want to slump on the sofa and watch something mindless on the television. Here's how to figure out when you study best, so that you can plan your studying for your most effective hours. Studying when you're on tip-top form will make your day go much more smoothly. 1. Experiment with studying at different times of day Even if you think you're a night owl or a morning lark, try studying at hours that you wouldn't normally work. If you tend to wake up s-l-o-w-l-y and rarely do anything but drink coffee and surf the 'net until midday, try starting studying as soon as you're dressed, for a change. If you never work after dinner, try making an essay plan at ten pm. You may well just confirm your suspicions that you study best at a specific time - but you might also surprise yourself! 2. Keep a "study log" for a few days Once you've got a feel for the times when you think you study well, start keeping a log for a few days. It's up to you how you do this, but one simple method is to grab a sheet of paper for each day and divide it up like this: • 8am - 10am • 10am - 12noon • 12noon - 2pm • 2pm - 4pm • 4pm - 6pm • 6pm - 8pm • 8pm - 10pm (Obviously, jiggle the times around a bit if you get up at 6am or if you're never in bed before 2am...) As you go through the day, jot down what you're doing during...

A USA Today article called it one of 2009's "summer sleeper hits".[1] An early review in The New York Times notes Stockett's "affection and intimacy buried beneath even the most seemingly impersonal household connections" and says the book is a "button-pushing, soon to be wildly popular novel".[2] The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said of the book, "This heartbreaking story is a stunning debut from a gifted talent".[3] The novel is Stockett's first. It took her five years to complete the book, which was rejected by 60 literary agents before agent Susan Ramer agreed to represent Stockett.[4][5] The Help has since been published in 35 countries and three languages.[6] As of August 2011, it has sold five million copies and has spent more than a 100 weeks on the The New York Times Best Seller list.[7][8] The...

...Organizational Impact Paper Shawn Cheairs OI/361 January 8, 2015 Mario Madrid Innovation, design, and creativity play crucial and interconnected roles in order to determine the success for both the manufacturing and services industries. Careful thought and consideration must be taken when creating a new and innovative product or service which appeals to consumers. Organizations must also learn to involve consumers at an early stage in order to gauge their needs and wants, and the team in charge of producing something tangible or intangible needs to make every effort possible to create something that meets those consumers’ needs and wants or the product or service will be certain to fail. Lotus In the case of Lotus, the organization was caught with their backs against the wall when the engine manufacturer being used for the Lotus Elan closed their doors. Lotus looked back to their beginnings in racing to inspire a new idea. The idea of creating the Lotus Elise came to life and the task of incorporating innovation, design, and creativity to bring about a product that met the needs and wants of consumers. It became extremely important for various people involved with the Lotus Elise project to execute their roles in communication amongst one another. The communication and openness between those designing, engineering and manufacturing kept the project on track and problems that arose were quickly solved. Innovation, design, and creativity had led to Lotus being able to...
