...Steven bowed and almost barfed again. He then took the vial and drank it down. “Mmmm...that’s an unexpectedly pleasant taste for medicine.” “Thank you my king, I feel better already.” The king nodded and turned around so he could address all in the expedition team. “Alright heroes, your journey begins now.” “You will head South out of the kingdom to the city state of Anteros, and then when you arrive at the Fath Coast, a man named Chiron will take you on his boat called the Storm Weaver to the mysterious continent.” “He will provide you with more supplies and weapons there.” “I also personally provided three messenger birds that you can use to report back any findings you receive.” “Personally, and for the lands well being, I do not want...

...Tutankhamen Cadice Goldsboro Dr. Alan Rogers Lithonia Campus HUM 111 May 4, 2014 Strayer University Tutankhamen, a king of Ancient Egypt most people called him King Tut. Some researchers say they have resolved the mystery surrounding the death of the Egyptian boy-king Tutankhamen, who died in about 1324 B.C. at 19 years of age. The question was his death a mystery? As of today, historian, Egyptologists and even scientists are still trying to figure that out. There are several theories around his death but no facts. One of the theories is he had a broken leg, and an infection caused him to die, and the other is he was murdered, and another is that he had Malaria, Kohler, and Sickle cell disease English Archaeologist Howard Carter and his colleagues studied X-rays of the mummy that indicated a swelling at the base of Tutankhamen’s skull suggesting, “King Tut” as he was known, was killed by a blow to the head. Carter states “it was like stepping into a funeral of a 3,200-year old king”. “It was no longer just scientific research that bought out the human aspect” (Howard Carter, 2011). This theory concludes King Tut may have been murdered as the result of blunt force trauma (Lovgren, 2006). This theory was later ruled out, and it was determined that the hole to King Tut head was a result from the mummification process. King Tut had a foot disorder consisting of a low arch and a deformed structure within the bone density supporting bone necrosis. Dr. Hutan Ashrafin...

...throughout the world. This was achieved by the African Americans themselves, with their strong effort in fighting for what they felt was right. Following their strong attempts, “A terrible price had to be paid, in a tragic, calamitous civil war, before the new democracy could be rid of that most undemocratic institution” (G. Loury, 2015). A huge part of this time period was the Civil Rights movement. This movement was led by strong leaders that helped secure equal opportunities and privileges for African Americans. Although slavery was not officially outlawed until the 13th century amendment was passed, at end of the war slaves were set free. In M. Stevens (2015), “Fasts about the Slave Trade and Slavery, The Gider Lehrman Institute of American History,” slave trade and slavery itself has been thoroughly described. Steven starts off by stating that the United States had the highest natural increase in slave population. He then goes into slave trade, and explains what a slave would go through on a normal work day. This ties into the fact of the actual cost of slaves, and how vastly it changed through the years. The following line from the text demonstrates this idea, “During the 18th century, slave prices generally rose. Though they fell somewhat before the start of the revolution, by the early 1790s… Prices rose to a high of about $1,250 during the cotton boom of the late 1830s, fell to below half that level in the 1840s, and rose to about $1,450 in the late 1850… At age...

...SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCE, MANAGEMENT AND PEDAGOGY MPA 504 Reflection Paper on How to Become a Better Public Servant (Teacher) Ria P. Pachica Dr. Angelina C. Villareal (Student-Iloilo Group) (Professor) Introduction I come to education later in life and with a passion. I did not expect that I would have a second career. I volunteered in a kindergarten class for a few hours a week to be generous to the community. Quickly, I discovered that I was the one receiving the gift. The children were extraordinary; exciting, challenging, and loving. Her teachers and the other teachers I met at her school were extraordinary as well. Their caring, professionalism, and openheartedness moved and inspired me. Reasons for Wanting to Become a Teacher I believe that teaching is an essential and noble profession. Next to parents, teachers are the most important foundational element in our society. Everything important begins in childhood, especially knowledge, self-knowledge, resilience, and character. Proper preparation is fundamental to living a full, rewarding life. Without self-knowledge, children may follow wrong paths and end up far from their true callings; lost, sad, and unfulfilled. Without resilience, the storms and challenges of life can turn children from their highest path, leaving them far from who they might have been. Finally, character is the intangible force that raises society as a whole, minimizes...

...Steven Rogers PHI-105 9/2/2013 Thomas Dyer “PROSTITUTION” It is the year 2013 and the name “Prostitution” is not a new found word. Movies with titles such as “Pretty Woman” and classic Disney cartoons such as: “Lady and the Tramp”, have familiarized families with the inside scoop of the insidious street life. Our society has grown accustomed to seeing woman scantly dressed on the big-screen and on the back street corners of any particular neighborhood across America. Some have made it a career and others have been manipulated into believing that they have no other choice, but to offer their body and souls to the Devils playground. Although prostitution has been around since the beginning of time, the effects of this illegal act has its consequences, young children are abducted and forced to fornicate, billions of tax dollars are wasted yearly on illegal trafficking and morally prostitution is considered an abomination to God. Young children are being forced to fornicate. A percentage of children who have been abducted according to the (US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children; 2013), has stated “In the USA an estimated 800,000 children are reported missing every year, of which 97% are recovered.” Out of the parents who have lost children due to illegal prostitution, have usually seen an increase in girls abducted over boys. A majority of girls who have...

...In reflecting on the events of my life that have impacted me, I returned to the night of August 1, 2006. I found myself in Row G of Radio City Music Hall in New York City sitting by my mother, not at all tired, although we had flown from Las Vegas to Syracuse the day before, and my family had driven five hours to the city for “An Evening with Harry, Carrie and Garp,” a charity event with readings by three authors. The excitement rushing through me kept me awake and alert; I was standing and applauding a tiny blonde woman with amazing silver snake shoes as she prepared to read. The Harry Potter series was my gateway drug into my intellectual puberty. I was so fascinated by the Harry Potter world that my mother began taking me to academic conferences focused on the books. Beginning with The Witching Hour in 2005, through Lumos, Prophecy, Portus, and Azkatrz in 2009, I have attended presentations about the Latin etymology of terms and spells, the mythical tales of the artifacts, and the idea of literary alchemy. These books opened my eyes to the whole world, and to knowledge itself. They were the stimulus that kept my brain working over the summers. More importantly, they helped me adopt the philosophy useful in school and beyond, that there is always another way to do something, or to perceive an issue. With uncertainty and doubt, comes innovation and new ways to look at problems that may result in new, different, faster and easier solutions. And all this came from a little “magic...

...Does Steroids Provide An Unfair Advantage In Baseball or Does It Even The Playing Field? Baseball has been an American pastime for centuries and will be for centuries to come. Adults have been taking their children to baseball games since the Major Leagues first came about in the late 1800s. From the Philadelphia Phillies' great Astrodome to their current Citizens Bank Park or the Atlanta Braves' Fulton County Stadium to their more modern Turner Field baseball has been loved in America. Although the game is as old as it is, baseball has not changed even though the players continue to get better and better. Many fans first take is the use of steroids in baseball. But did steroids really help Barry Bonds become home run king? Because Hank Aaron had the record generations before and he reportedly never injected steroids. Every year it seems like a new player gets brought into the league that is going to be faster, stronger, and an overall better player; except the ones that have the records broken that is. Although steroids are supposed to make athletes bigger, faster, and stronger,; are steroids really making athlete's statistics better or simply bridging the gap between decent athletes and great ones? There are many aspects in hitting a baseball that coaches teach athletes at a young age. Seeing the ball well, swinging with your hips and not just your arms, being disciplined and not swinging at a ball out of the strike zone, these are all examples of what it takes to be a good...

Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and loo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” (Matt 28:19-20) This is “The Great Commission” from the Bible calling man to the mission arena. While we see evidence of the mission filed throughout the Old Testament it is in the New Testament where the call and instructions and encouragement come to light. The first scripture that addressed the mission mandate was Genesis 12:1-4 when God told Abraham to father a nation. This became the basis for mission work in the Old and New Testament...

...defense insisted on the version according to which the police had a conspiracy “because of racist beliefs.” Los Angeles Police Department has earned such a reputation after the brutal police arrest of Rodney King, which was recorded by a video camera. After justifying the police officers involved in the arrest, the city erupted into unrest in 1992. According to a survey in the completion of the day October 3, 1995, 73% of Americans agreed with the prosecution, and 27% were against it: statistics reflect the then relationship between the white majority and colored minority. Among the 12-member jury at the trial was 8 black women and one black man, one Hispanic and two white women only. Thus, 83% of a jury made up of colored Americans. Just as the not-guilty verdicts in the trial of four LAPD officers accused of savagely beating Rodney King had outraged many Americans in 1992, the verdict in the Simpson case proved equally controversial. Predictably, the reaction broke down along racial lines. Many African Americans focused on the history of police brutality against minorities and concluded that it was likely that Simpson had been caught up in a racist conspiracy engineered by the LAPD. In response, some commentators suggested that the Simpson verdict was a payback for the King verdict. In setting Simpson free, it was suggested, the predominantly African American jury had tried to even the score. In contrast, most white Americans were convinced that Simpson had committed the murders...
