Dr Seuss’s The Butter Battle Book, written about the butter side-up Yooks and the butter side-down Zooks, is just one of his greatest, well-known books. In The Butter Battle Book is the story of the back and forth conflict between the Zooks and Yooks trying to out do each other with inventions of machines. Throughout this book Dr Seuss uses his narrative elements like his rhymes of course, theme, and allusion to hook the reader and make it enjoyable to read. The way he uses these devices in a lot of his other popular books people know as Green Eggs and
Ham or even The Cat in the Hat, is the reason people say he’s one of the best authors and in result makes him so successful.

As everyone knows, Dr. Seuss is one of the best at writing …show more content…
Different from his other books, Dr Seuss adds a bit of allusion to this one. Seuss shows many examples that seem to tie The Butter Battle Book to the Cold War. Using this narrative element was very impressive,[comma splice] he shows his skill to be able to tell a funny children's book and resemble it to a bigger topic. For example [punctuation error] Seuss writes, “We’ll dress you right up in a fancier suit, we’ll give you a fancier slingshot to shoot” [run-on sentence] this resembles to the Arms Race; back in the Cold War the Soviet Union and United States fought the war by demonstrating their power, so they both tried to have the best weapons just like the Yooks in The Butter Battle Book. As well the author writes, “I’m unhappy to say, he came back the next day in a spiffy new suit with a big new machine” (Seuss). Resembling this quote to the Cold War, when one side came out with more and new weapons, the other side would do the same. For the last example Seuss writes, “My back room boys have already begun, to think up a walloping whizz-zinger one”[punctuation error]. This quote duplicates the Space Race, another part of the Cold War. The Space Race was basically each side trying to prove they had better scientist by achieving certain space missions first, the “back room boys” relate to the scientist in the Cold War. This passage reveals likeness of the Cold War displaying Seuss’ competence to tell his stories …show more content…
The Butter Battle Book wasn’t just about the feud of the Yooks and the Zooks but also on what Seuss thinks about the pointless. Seuss made it easy to tell by some of the lines he uses. [missing word] Page 7 Seuss writes, “As you know, on this side of the wall we are the yooks, on the far other side of this wall are the Zooks”; this example tells the reader right at the start that the Yooks and Zooks are separated. The author also writes, "It's high time that you knew of the terribly horrible thing that Zooks do. In every Zook house and in every Zook town every Zook eats his bread with the butter side down!" (Seuss). This quote displays how the Zooks and Yooks are different and that the Yooks don’t except how different they are. Lastly the author clearly reveals the theme by writing, "But we Yooks, as you know, when we breakfast or sup, spread our bread," Grandpa said, "with the butter side up. That's the right, honest way!" Grandpa gritted his teeth. "So you can't trust a Zook who spreads bread underneath!” (Seuss). This informs the reader that the Yooks and the Zooks don’t get along because they’re different, hence why they are separated. Using these quotes throughout the story makes it easy for the reader to comprehend the theme and understand the book, which again shows how well Seuss can use his writer’s

The Butter Battle Book Analysis

...When looking at the children’s story, The Butter Battle Book, by Dr. Seuss, the alternative perspective suggests that the story is attempting to represent the conflicts between the United States and Soviet Union during the Cold War. To begin, there is clear evidence of tension between the Yooks and the Zooks due to their differences. The dispute between the two sides is that the Yooks eat their bread with the butter side up: “But we Yooks…honest way!” (Seuss. 6), while the Zooks consume their bread with butter side down: “It’s high time…side down!” (Seuss. 5). This relates to the tension built up between the US and USSR during the Cold War due to their different ideologies. The US was capitalist and had a democratic government, while the Soviet...

Analyziing Your Competition-a Ghanian Case

...Every company has a unique set of strengths, and it's critical that you determine yours, as well as your competitors'. Hold a brainstorming session with your staff and advisors to perform a formal SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis. This analysis helps you to see how your strengths stack up against your competitors' weaknesses and suggests ways to take  advantage of marketplace opportunities. After you have performed the analysis, there are four basic competitive strategies to consider. 1. Become the low-cost supplier. By under-pricing the competition, you can achieve greater volume, which can drive your costs down even further by realizing economies of scale. Of course, it's important to still maintain a healthy profit margin so the key here is to lower costs, not just prices. 2. Achieve product or service quality differentiation. Think about the hundreds of companies that have achieved such differentiation for themselves. Take L'Oreal, for example. Why have they used the slogan "I'm worth it" for so many years? And are there really any other crackers on grocery store shelves that have the image of Ritz? What's the real difference between Coke and Pepsi, or between Skippy and Jif peanut butter? Why do you keep returning to the same dealership to have your car serviced? Why do many of us follow our favorite hair...

The Association of Nutritional Balance and Performance of Grade 3 Pupils of Pinyahan Elementary School

...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Nutrition plays an important role in the present age of scientific investigation and discovery. Recent studies and discoveries in the field of nutrition have been considered among the greatest scientific achievements because of their far reaching effects on human progress and welfare. Credit is due to those investigators in the field of nutrition who made careful and painstaking studies which have given knowledge on how best to select, combine and prepare food to promote the health and efficiency of the individual The world’s demand for food is becoming greater than ever. The current world population of 8 billion needs new innovations to meet the growing challenges of the poor and hungry world. Over nutrition, obesity, and related diseases characteristic of the developed world, is becoming serious public health problems in countries with widespread food insecurity. Children suffering from under nutrition today could well be afflicted with chronic diseases of development as adults. The economic development that has led to improved food security and better health in some countries needs to be harnessed, while at the same time incentives to avert the adverse health effects of the nutrition transition need to be taken. The potential of novel foods to alleviate under nutrition is becoming more apparent.
