...STUDENT NUMBER : 10011364671 ASSIGNMENT CODE : 72365N QUESTION 1 You are the manager of a health restaurant . Describe the factors that you would consider when planning a new menu for the restaurant . (10) As the manager I should know that the soundness of the menu contributes greatly to the meal experience because the menu is the kitchen blueprint . The factors used in planning a menu include : facilities for cooking and service , staff capability , pricing policy based on costs , business promotion and marketing , balance, availability and season of supplies and clientele . (i) Facilities for cooking and service Equipment must be adequate , particularly as improvisation often leads to poor safety and hygiene practice . It is important to realise , as well , that any unfair loading of work in one production or service area may lead to bad feelings and a lowering of staff morale . (ii) Staff capability The menu should match the capabilities of the cooking and service staff. In some cases a meal does not live up to a customer’s expectations , because of a mismatch of skill and output . In some cases with a limited range of experience ,the staff may not have a full understanding of the universally acceptable standards that prevail in the industry . (iii) Pricing policy based on costs Some items may require little or no preparation before being sold whilst others will require little or no preparation before being sold whilst...

...The Reason Why I Started To Eat Carrots It is Sunday afternoon; I’m hungry and I can’t take off my mind the carrot cake that I eat each year on my birthday. I’m gazing at the splendid vista that my huge picture window offers. It is winter now, and as far I can see, there is no green anywhere in the woods, only the desolate gray that is scattered among the crunchy branches, the dead frozen grass that doesn’t lure the deer to come by and say hi to the window. But here I am, the time is passing, and I have the feeling of being part of a movie playing in slow motion, one that shows my life passing by in front of my eyes, and I can’t touch it. Walking with my head down, suddenly, a sparkle of light on the ground calls my attention; it is a distortion of the sun that deceives me with a fractured hint of a gem that becomes the most important thing to me for the next three seconds. It is a leaf. Here is when the shining leaf took me back to a big moment, that moment in the past that everyone remembers once in a while. Those memories that transport us back to times of happiness. The shining leaf I had rescued has the same brown glazed color of a carrot cake. Those memories are ‘messing’ in my head, just to cause my emotions to emerge. Was this weird or just coincidence? The golden brown color in a carrot cake is the only thing I can think about right now. Yeah, life gives surprises and on this occasion it gives me a trip to the past. I was just five years old. The memories come back...

...Sensing, Introverted Sensing, Extroverted Intuiting and Introverted Sensing. When we think for a moment, we might see familiar objects in your environment feeling the touch of objects, smelling the aroma of foods or fruit, hearing the sound of music, and recognizing who is signing it, or the songs name is actually our memory. Like, when we close our eyes and if we smell a lemon cake, the smelling of the fresh lemons comes to our sense. All of these things help us recognize the objects and to interfere by the surrounding objects and people around us also. There are three process of memory: encoding, storage and retrieval. Encoding is processing information into memory. We automatically store encode information without being aware of it. Storage is where the information is stored and kept. One day my mom was baking something in the oven, and she wanted me to guest what it was from the smell. I thought it was a cake but actually it was a main course. Well, of course she was not happy with this situation as I do love desserts, and at that moment I thought that it was a carrot cake because I was imagining a carrot cake. The image was like real in my head. Well once you see that the actual imagination and the object is not the same then you stop pause for a moment. The language that accurate was Turkish,...

...Digestive Health Center Nutrition Services Low Fiber Diet for Diverticulitis Diverticulosis in the colon is where segments of the colon pushes out into pouches called diverticula. Diverticulitis occurs when the diverticula becomes inflamed and/or infected. A flare of diverticulitis can occur suddenly with abdominal pain usually arising in the lower left abdomen; fever, nausea, vomiting may also be present. Fiber is a component of complex carbohydrates that the body cannot digest, is found in plant based foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. Fiber promotes regular bowel movements and keeps stools soft and bulky. When there is not enough fiber in the diet, stools become hard and could be difficult to pass through the colon. This puts pressure on the walls of the colon, which then may give out to form diverticula. While a diet high in fiber may help prevent diverticulosis and thus diverticulitis; a diet low in fiber may help reduce GI discomfort during flares of diverticulitis by reducing frequency of stools. While with Diverticulitis: Follow a low fiber diet (usually 10-15 grams of fiber per day) until your flares subside. Once symptoms resolve, gradually add high fiber foods one by one back into the diet (goal is to reach 30-35 grams of fiber per day). It may help to limit the following foods ONLY IF you have problems with diarrhea (may occur from infection or inflammation in the colon) and/or have gas, bloating, cramping. o Foods that are greasy, fried and sugary...

... Carrots The carrot (Daucus carota subsp. sativus, Etymology: from Late Latin carōta, from Greek καρότον karōton, originally from the Indo-European root ker- (horn), due to its horn-like shape) is a root vegetable, usually orange in colour, though purple, red, white, and yellow varieties exist. It has a crisp texture when fresh. The most commonly eaten part of a carrot is a taproot, although the greens are edible as well. It is a domesticated form of the wild carrot Daucus carota, native to Europe and southwestern Asia. The domestic carrot has been selectively bred for its greatly enlarged and more palatable, less woody-textured edible taproot. It is a biennial plant which grows a rosette of leaves in the spring and summer, while building up the stout taproot, which stores large amounts of sugars for the plant to flower in the second year. The flowering stem grows to about 1 metre (3 ft) tall, with an umbel of white flowers that produce a fruit called a mericarp by botanists, which is a type of schizocarp. Methods of consumption and Uses Carrots can be eaten in a variety of ways. Only 3% of the β-carotene in raw carrots is released during digestion: this can be improved to 39% by pulping, cooking and adding cooking...
