Cats and Dogs

...Comp Fund 16 November 2001 Cats and Dogs This compare and contrast essay is for English composition, it will be on cats, and dogs, and The three points are going to be about; fur, hearing, and dogs being omnivorous, and cats being carnivores. Cats and dogs are at the top of the list for pets in the U.S. today. One can train dogs with a lot of time, and hard work, yet most cats are difficult or not trainable at all. Most dogs and cats have different lengths of hair, and they come in many colors, and lengths. They both have a strong sense of hearing, and a tremendous sense of smell. My family and I have owned many pets. We currently have two dogs, and two cats. Phoebe is a Yellow Lab with short blonde hair, and Lizzie is a Black Lab with short black hair. Most dogs shed, but there are some breeds that shed remarkably little, or not at all. Brushing a dog’s coat will cut down on the amount of hair on the furniture, and floors. We adopted our two cats from an animal shelter. Shockte has short white hair, and Izzy has long gray hair. Cats are easier to take care of than dogs due to their self-grooming habits; therefore, they do not need baths regularly. The only problem is they do get hairballs that can lead to health problems. There are three ways to rid a cat of a hairball; a bowel movement, regurgitation, or having them surgically removed. The more love and affection a pet gets, the more they are likely to give back. Cats and dogs love to play and must receive...

Cats and Dogs

...25, 2013 Mr.R Cats and Dogs Cats and dogs, an argument people have been having for centuries. This tension is so bad, there’s even a stereotype that dogs and cats don’t like each other either. Conversations like, which is better? Which one can see further? Whose nose is more sensitive? Which ones cleaner? Which one is friendlier? Who can hear further? Which one is easier to take care of? These are questions people argue every day. There are two different types of people in this world, dog lovers and cat lovers, and they both think their pets are the best. But how are they so sure? One big controversy between dogs and cats, is that both species lovers believe their pet can hear, see, and smell better than the other. But who’s correct? On the category of smell, dogs can smell human fingerprints that are a week old. Their noses are so sensitive they can even smell electricity. The source of the dogs exceptional smell ability is their wet nose, which of course a cat does not have. However, even though dogs may have the upper paw on smell, cats come on top with hearing. The cat’s outer ear flap can rotate 180 degrees and works like a high tech satellite to locate extremely faint noises. Cats can also hear higher pitches than dogs, a cats range starts at 30 hertz and goes up to 60 kilohertz. However a dog’s hearing only goes up to 40 kilohertz. Cats and dogs are red-green colored blind, meaning they see various shades of yellows, whites, and blues. Dogs have superior night...

...you want to make money, you have to sell something. I think, that much, should be clear. However, many of us get tripped up on the simple question “What should I sell?” In the digital age there are a thousand different options to selling to an audience, and I have never read a single article that discusses, in depth, what you should sell. So I decided to do the next best thing, which was to ask a bunch of successful, experienced entrepreneurs about the first thing they ever sold on a large scale, and how that went for them. The answers I got were downright amazing and went well above and beyond the call of duty. We have essentially 39 case studies on how to sell your first product/service. Want to know what was the first thing Zac Johnson ever sold, before he made millions? We got it! Some of these answers are basically blog posts in and of themselves, and this “article” is now well over 12,000 words. If you take the time to read this (as you should) you’ll see that not everyone hit it out of the park on their first at bat. In fact, sometimes there were failures. But no matter what happened, there was always one thing; lessons. So please have a look, and then, before you switch to something else, make sure to check out the bottom for my analysis on what made for a successful sell. And above all, be sure to go over to these guys’ blogs, as seen in the author bios, and give them a shout. Tell them we’re you found them, and thank them for providing such amazingly,...

...Stephen Lemieux Environmental Issues Professor Nerney January 20, 2016 Article 1 The article that I chose was about the U.S. Bringing Gas Mileage Rules to Era of Hybrids, meaning car companies (Ford) are trying to get their new hybrid vehicles to go above and beyond with their miles per gallon. Ford’s new C-Max hybrid is trying to get the miles per gallon from 47 to 43 miles. The payments for these vehicles will go up to $550 and $325 to people that have leased them. Since then Ford sold over 32,000 hybrids sense they’ve come out. Ford tested out its Ford Fusion because it was their top seller, and when it accomplished the 47 miles per gallon Ford was able to apply that rating to the C-max hybrid. The new cars are supposedly healthier and safer for the environment, due to the smaller engine and battery. There still trying to minimize the weight of parts in the car. Ford plans on making a new car that can minimize even more fuel towards the end of the year. More competition is coming to their attention with the hybrid models, because everyone around the world believe getting a car that uses gas less and drives further is good for them and the environment. South Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia were held back because the companies had bad test results. Obviously in todays society people use cars for everyday activity. If companies are trying to get their cars better on gas mileage it will help the environment by using less gas and relying more on battery, but these...

Dogs vs Cats

...Jennifer Elliott hcs/440  07/21/2014 Health care history Jennifer Elliott hcs/440  07/21/2014 Health care history Before the 1900s, there really wasn't what you could call major health care in this country. The American Medical Association also known as the AMA was just finally taking off the ground, hospitals were just getting established, doctors still made house calls and traded their services for goods, and people still used a lot of home remedies to treat their ailments. Health insurance was unheard of, but between 1901 and the 1940's medicine and health care made some major jumps and went far. Hospitals became more and more important, advances were made in antiseptics and cleanliness, antibiotics were discovered, and several people were coming up with ideas for health insurance and employer medical benefits. President Truman proposed a national health care plan, but it was shot out of the water by both the American Medical Association and Congress. By the 1960's, though, we started to see health insurance companies popping up all over, Social Security had been implemented, and Medicare and Medicaid had been signed into law. HMO's came into existence in the 1970's and health care costs began to climb radically, eventually spiraling out of control! Over the past fifty years, we've seen health care costs continue to rise to the point that some low-income families and the elderly are unable to get medical treatment. Decentralization of the hospital care system has...

Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs

..."Time spent with cats is never wasted"-Sigmund Freud. Many people enjoy the company of their pets. Some people pamper their pets like royalty, while others have nothing but their loving animal companion. While both are loyal and playful with their owners, cats are superior to dogs and are overall the most exceptional pet one can obtain. There are many benefits to owning a cat. Not only do dogs require walking, but they also slobber and bark annoyingly. Cats don't need walking, and additionally, cats live longer than dogs. Creme Puff, a cat from Texas lived to be 38! Cats also don't slobber. Cats are also proven to be smarter than dogs. Some cats have even been taught how to play the piano! Also, studies show that the memory of a cat is longer...

Compare and Contrast Dog and Cats

...Comparison of Cats and Dogs Instructor Aimee Garten February 13, 3012 Our amazing planet, Earth is home to a diverse amount of humans, insects, animals and other organism which share a common bond of directly and indirectly habitation. Americans own 73 million dogs and 90 million cats. They become best friends, soul mates, family members, and even surrogate children. Relationships with cats and dogs are some of the longest and most intimate of our lives (PBS.org 2012). The saying, “A dog is man’s best friend” may hold some truth for many, but dogs are not the only animal companion people enjoy. For many individuals, a cat is their best friend. Providing a loving home to either of these animals is a huge responsibility an owner may undertake. It’s an honor and a pleasure to possess either one. Cats and dogs are the two most popular domestic animals for companionship. Cats and dogs offer their owners different amounts of companionship and personal fulfillment. When you show them love they will unconditional return that love back. Even though cats and dogs share some of the same similarities, they are truly different in many ways. The similarities, and the differences are countless between cats and dogs, however, let’s discuss what makes them similar. First, we shall examine the similarities these two beings have in common. It’s evidently that both are of the mammal kingdom and both have hair for coating. They mutually have sharp teeth, tail, four legs, and claws. Cats and Dogs...

Why Cats Are Better Than Dogs

...Why cats are better than dogs Many people today own a pet or some sort, but the most popular are dogs and cats. Everyone has their own particular reason for their choice of pet, but I prefer cats over dogs because cats are more independent than dogs. Firstly you never have to worry about trying to fit in 2 or 3 walks every day because with cats you don’t need that. For example, if you were tired or sick and you had a dog, you would still need to walk him/her. Or, it would cost money to hire someone else to walk your dog and it is a headache to arrange. Lastly you could put down enough food and drink and the cat would eat and drink when hungry or thirsty. A dog, on the other hand wouldn’t be able to regulate how much it should eat. Also a cat can go to the bathroom in a litter box, but a dog would need someone to take it out on a walk in order to go to the bathroom. Secondly cats are much quieter pets than dogs especially during times when you want to sleep or relax. For example; let’s say an individual has a tiring day of work and wants to relax. They finally get comfortable when their dog hears a sound outside or sees another dog and starts barking uncontrollably whereas cats keep any moods they have to themselves. Cats do not feel a need to share their opinions with everyone around them. They keep quiet and do not bother with meowing at strangers. When friends arrive at your home, a dog goes into frenzy, barking, leaping and pawing at the newcomer. While the dog does everything...

Goats Are Better Than Dogs and Cats

...Why goats are better than dogs and cats Dogs are regarded as man’s best friend. In the USA alone, there are around 78 million dog owners. There are also over 220 million cats in the world. Whenever you think of a common household pet, you will most likely think of cats or dogs straight away. If you go out for a walk, it is almost guaranteed that you will see a cat or a dog. How many of you own a dog or a cat? Well I am going to convince you why goats are better pets than dogs or cats. Goats are amazing creatures. In many parts of the world they are thought of as livestock or work animals. They are used in third world countries for their meat, fur, milk and to work on the land. The truth is, they are wonderful pets and very loving creatures. There are around 450 million goats in the world and they were the first animal ever to be domesticated by humans. There are many different breeds of goats. All breeds are either dairy or meat goats. Dairy goats are bred for their milk, and meat goats are bred for their meat. Each different breed is extremely different, both in appearance and personality so you have lots to choose from. Dogs and cats are lots of fun but they don’t offer uses in many other ways. Goats can be very useful because they are able to eat the grass on your lawn. This is great for people who are busy because they won’t have to mow their lawn so often. Goats also provide you with fresh milk. Many scientists claim that fresh goat’s milk is great for your health. This...
