david asked for a extra hand and his dad got mad because it doesn’t look good in the waknuk people’s eyes. Just because a kid like david ask for help it doesn’t mean that he is weaker or is dependent on a human being it just means he need help in a certain area in his life. the outcome for an extra hand was outrageous because not only was he lectured but he was also beaten by his father. In their world their kids need to be perfect but in the 20th century we are able to understand a human's weakness and strengths. Another point in the book that is a great example is when aunt harriet’s baby is killed just because he is a deviant. A poor and innocent child is killed like a it was nothing just because some of his features are not up to standards. Their should be no reason for killing any child that hasn't even been in this world for less than an hour as a matter of fact killing any human being is a crime that should of been noticed by the waknuk
