The coffee thermos

Her intoxication, and that she always dragged on that coffee thermos disgusted me. The coffee thermos was probably all she had. I was embarrassed that I was the one who at her birthday had given her it. Spasmodically she kept hold of it: as it was the coffee thermos that now gave her the little balance she could still practice.
At first glance she did not recognize me, but then came the memory of my face back and she stumbled forward, straight into my arms.
" Are you here, are you taking care of me again. How did you know I was here and enjoying myself. "
" You slurs, I can’t hear what you are trying to say."
I took her by the arm and led her away from the central streets and its bright illumination, away from the light into the darkness. Only when the town began to disappear, she noticed that we were not going home to her, suddenly she became aware that my gripe around her arm stiffened.
"Get off me! What are you doing?!"
Desperately, she tried to break free. Her sudden fear triggered me, her betrayal made me angry and pissed off. I felt a great anger, a cracked heat flow through my body.
I threw down her tender body on the ground. The grass was wet. It was slippery. I stood straight up and watched as she tried to get up. She couldn’t manage it. She laughed nervously.
"Help me up, I'm totally wasted."
She pulled back her hair, she didn’t look at me. With hands behind my stretched straight back, I started to objectively go in circles around her, I'm thinking if it’s completely safe to kill her here on this chosen location.
"Stop it walking like that. It's scary!"
Soldierlike I hit my legs together and stopped in front of her. Maybe it was the power of thought; I forced her to look at me. I had never noticed her eye colour before, I did not know we had the same, or maybe I had repressed it. Her eyes were bloodshot, thin strands of hair stuck to her face.
First I ripped of her disgusting clothes. I felt I had to see her completely destitute. The stench of the unwashed body was me not unfamiliar but gave me such disgust that I wanted more than to speed up her nudity. She must die! She must die immediately, while she already smelled like a corpse. With the rags of her torn clothes I tied her hands. If she wondered what I was doing she was not showing it, she just looked confused around at the place she suddenly had ended up. That it was me who ripped off her clothes, why would she think about it, she had never thought about who ripped off her clothes before. I spat at her. Like an aborted foetus she lay on the ground.
I bent down over her and strike the first punch, second, third, fourth. She tries to protect herself with her hands tied and shouted at me, begs me to stop. Then I kicked her with the tip of my shoe at her throat so hard that no sound would ever come out again. She vomited. I let her throw up and then I resumed. Twelfth, thirteenth, twentieth, thirty, how easy it was! I was amazed how much her body could handle, so strong limbs. She even managed to repeatedly get up, but no sound could she accomplish other than a low screech. I myself gave away no sound except my panting breathing. She struggled in her despairing silence, fighting to survive. In the corner of my eye I saw the black, shiny coffee thermos. I retrieved it, hard and dented it achieved more damage than my bare hands did. She fought one last time before she took her final breath and died.
I looked down at my bloody hands. Slowly I then raised both eyes and arms against the dark sky. I smiled, couldn’t stop. The smile soon became a laugh, a joy I have never felt before. The laughter drove me down to the ground. I found myself sitting beside the corpse for a while thinking. I had killed, I was now a murderer. I admired my work, it was beautiful. For the first time, she was beautiful, only in death filled my mom a purpose in my life.

Well, what is your evidence that you claim you found?” He snapped. Amy yanked the papers from her purse. The detective snatched them from her. Green Mountain Case

...Green Mountain Coffee Case Porter 5-force model Rivalry: a strong force Green Mountain coffee as a premium coffee maker, has only two current large threats, Starbucks, and Seattle’s best coffee. The leader of the premium coffee industry is Starbucks and does have the necessary resources to effectively compete with Green Mountain Coffee. Another issue facing Green Mountain Coffee is the threat of new entry. Since the premium coffee industry is a growing market, and with a relatively easy entrance into the market, this in turn increases the overall amount of product in the market and creates an overabundance in product. To combat rivalry as well as ensure supply Green Mountain as been very active in starting up coffee bean farms in South America to ensure quality and availability in the future. One strong point that Green Mountain possesses is that as far as premium coffee producers go, they are highly visible in work place offices as well as available at many gas stations in which they lend or lease coffee making equipment to these establishments and offer superior service, train, and perform preventative maintenance on this equipment. The potential switching costs for the buyers of Green Mountain would make it unattractive for them to switch to another supplier. Threat of Substitutes: A weak force The reasoning behind why the threat of substitutes is a weak force is that on general the reason people drink premium coffee is not to satisfy thirst, it is to enjoy a tasty...

Conduction, Convection and Radiation: Methods of Heat Transfer

...Project 2 Physics 171 – Professor Reeves Conduction, Convection, and Radiation: Methods of heat transfer Steve Strittmatter Conduction, Convection, and Radiation: Methods of heat transfer. Abstract There are three different types of heat transfer we often discuss in physics. This paper uses example of each type of heat transfer; conduction, convection, and radiation. When breaking down conduction we understand it is the physical transfer of heat. Two objects are touching and the heat from one object transfers to the other object to warm it. In convection we understand it is the flow of matter that moves the heat. Matter is warmed, moves away from the heat source and then other matter that has not been warmed moves closer to the heat source to be warmed. This creates a current allowing the flow of hot matter away and cool matter toward the heat source. Radiation is the other type of heat transfer we discuss; this type of heat transfer takes no matter at all and uses electromagnetic waves to transfer energy (heat) from one object to another. Conduction, convection and radiation are all methods in which heat is transferred from one object to another or from a heat source to an object. In each of these methods heat moves from the higher temperature to the lower temperature until a thermal equilibrium is established. It is the differences of each type of heat transfer that will be discussed in this paper. Before...

WALB News Report

...I quickly brushed my hair, put on my clothes, and got into the car with a bowl of cereal in my hand. My mom was driving very fast and then she had to jam on the brakes and her thermo of coffee spilled on the car floor and my bowl of cereal and milk splattered all over my new, $75 dress! When I got to school, my mom went back home to get me some clothes and brought them to school. I changed and Mrs.Holmes told me the worst news. Mrs.Holmes was a very kind and generous lady. I knew she would not play a trick on me. “ I’m sorry but the news reporters already came and took one big picture of the whole class---without you,” Mrs.Holmes said with a depressing voice. I just stood there with a horrible, aching feeling in my throat and stomach. Was she lying to me? I did not know what to say. I have been looking forward to this for months. I bought a $75 dress, did my hair for an hour the night before, and told everybody in my family...

It's a trend that's going to continue, for a few simple reasons. With a McDonald's or a Starbucks just about everywhere you look, both companies are running out of room to roam. Starbucks was once expanding so rapidly that comedians joked it would be opening new coffee shops inside the bathrooms of existing outlets. The Seattle company plans to launch just 100 U.S. stores this year, though. And in the cutthroat world of fast food, McDonald's needs to distance itself from powerful rivals like Burger King and Subway. ...1 The trouble with Starbucks On a dark December morning three years ago, Howard Schultz bounded into a coffee shop in Dublin and started shaking hands with people in red T-shirts and green aprons before peppering them with questions. “Are you all new with Starbucks?” he asked the staff. “Who are the customers, and have they been to Starbucks before?” The store was the second Starbucks to open in Ireland, and Schultz, a tall, lean, energetic man who had bought the Starbucks brand more than two decades earlier, was in town to find out what the locals thought of his empire. Watching his customers order espressos, lattes and cappuccinos as the morning sun slowly lit College Green Square, Schultz explained why the ubiquitous coffee brand had become so successful. “The story is kind of boring,” he said. “We keep doing the same thing, year-in and year-out.” And that thing wasn’t really about coffee. Starbucks’ rapid expansion, which saw it open more than 10,000 stores in three dozen countries, was sustainable, Schultz argued, because of the unique experience people had at the stores. “The one thing I think is really important,” he said, “is the sense of community and human connection in every Starbucks store you go into.” In 2005, Schultz had every reason to be confident about the future of the coffee chain that he had joined back in 1982 (when it comprised just four stores in Seattle). That December, Starbucks’ stock was trading close to historic highs of about $30 a share. Its sales...

Advertising Campaign

...Assignment 1 Advertising Campaign Mrk312 Consumers are more knowledgeable than ever before. The internet and the adaptation of social media through mobile devices have allowed the flow of information to travel faster than ever before. The worries of one consumer can quickly become the doubts of thousands if not millions within a short span of time. In terms of cancer and general human health, plastic has become an important issue. Plastic is a concern for both the environment and for the health conscious. Plastic is a synthetic material created by combining materials derived from sources such as petroleum, natural gas or coal. These polymers then must be combined with additives to give the finished product properties such as flexibility or toughness (Life Without Plastic and Mama Mundo Inc., 2013). The shelves of sporting goods stores and general retailers are lined with bottles that market BPA free, but that isn’t enough for some consumers. BPA free plastics still contain chemicals that can interfere with normal human functions. Many of the chemicals in the plastics are not know because they are considered proprietary information by the manufactures (Terry, 2011). With so many unanswered questions about the safety of plastic a market niche has developed consisting of consumers looking for alternatives to plastic water bottles. One material that has promise is stainless steel. Stainless steel water bottles do not require linings made from plastics such...

...January 9, 1986 There was no phone, and the window to the outside was too small for anyone but a small cat or a large rat to crawl through. Slitting her fingers through the envelope and withdrawing the letter yet again, she felt her remaining hope disappear instantly. The envelope that had been left in her office mailbox was supposed to have interested her. At first she had been excited but with every reading of it from agitation gave way to despair. Amanda Hylen had been awaited for this rendezvous for months now but it appeared as though it may never happen. Amanda had never been a patient person or a very caring one either. She was best known around her office for disregarding other peoples’ opinions and rarely did she consider the impact her action might have on another person or their feelings. Behind her back, her colleagues often referred to her as being selfish, uncaring, arrogant, and unkind as well as many other names that shouldn’t be repeated. The fact that she was short and had a prosthetic leg didn’t help her temperament. Fits of rage filled with flailing arms and spit had a reputation through her office. Her chestnut hair sprinkled with golden highlights that resembling the leaves of a poplar tree in autumn allowing her turquoise eyes to look even brighter and more welcoming. Her features allowed her to conceal her true employment with almost anything while she was away. ...
