...Karachi-75300, Pakistan Sir Syed University of Engg & Technology University Road Karachi-75300, Pakistan Sir Syed University of Engg & Technology University Road Karachi-75300, Pakistan ABSTRACT Due to the increase in the number of vehicles day by day, traffic congestions and traffic jams are very common. One method to overcome the traffic problem is to develop an intelligent traffic control system which is based on the measurement of traffic density on the road using real time video and image processing techniques. The theme is to control the traffic by determining the traffic density on each side of the road and control the traffic signal intelligently by using the density information. This paper presents the algorithm to determine the number of vehicles on the road. The density counting algorithm works by comparing the real time frame of live video by the reference image and by searching vehicles only in the region of interest (i.e., road area). The computed vehicle density can be compared with other direction of the traffic in order to control the traffic signal smartly. Keywords Traffic density count, image processing, intelligent controlling of traffic. 1. INTRODUCTION The number of vehicles on the road increases day by day therefore for the best utilization of existing road capacity, it is important to manage the traffic flow efficiently. Traffic congestion has become a serious issue especially in the modern cities. The main reason...

...and upcoming buzz in the vehicle world as well as a very controversial topic in public and road safety. It is the newest innovation to come to the vehicle world since the “push to start” button replacing the ignition system with a key. Autonomous cars, more commonly known as self driving cars, have been sparking arguments against why normal cars, where a human manually drives and has full control of the vehicle, are safer than these autonomous cars that are controlled by an artificial intelligence(AI) program, which is pretty much a robot. There are different statistics that show the differences in safety and travel time between the two. Autonomous cars can and are improving road safety and traffic times. They can do this by having father reaction times and reflexes than a human driver. If a public highway is opened just for autonomous cars, or even just a lane, traffic times and be significantly cut down since they will be able to travel at faster speeds with...

Around 10,000 people in Delhi may die prematurely due to the pollution in the air they are living in. Recently taking into consideration this issue, the National Green Tribunal (NGT), banned all diesel vehicles over 10 years old from running on the roads of this region. As the economic prosperity increases in these area and increase in disposable income leading to urbanization, the number of motor vehicles have increased too much which has led to easy and unprecedented mobility to the citizens. The number of motor vehicles in India has been increasing at around 7% per annum for the past 10 years. This increase in the vehicles and its concentration, mostly the cars, has led to led to traffic congestion...

...information. A revolution in smart meters, grids, and even smart cities has begun. We will explore a variety of issues related to the energy industry and the internet. There are some common misconception about the impact of internet related energy consumption on the energy industry. Initially, some astronomical claims were being made about the amount of energy the internet actually requires. Equally misinformed projections unsettled consumers and environmental activists alike. The Internet and Energy Consumption When we think about the internet, generally we think of something that has aided humanity toward advancement. These days many companies have the option to “go green” or receive electronic notices instead of paper statements. Generally, this is considered a good thing. Just how “green” is the internet? It’s a question that has been asked before, but is important to understand the impact of the internet usage on energy consumption is low. In 2011, Renzenbrink wrote “Data Centers Use 1.3 % of the World’s Total Electricity. A Decline in Growth.” In this article he discusses the effect of the 2008 financial crisis and the efforts the...

...take longer than others to achieve them, but that doesn’t mean we are less intelligent then the person next to us. Learning at your own pace is key to becoming a productive person in society. This is story about my first day in first grade. It was a blustery Monday morning. I was awakened by my mother giving me a kiss on my forehead. The air in the room smelled stale from sleep which emphasized the smell of coffee on her breathe-it was so fresh I could almost taste it. “Time to wake up for your first day of school.”, she said. My vision started to come into focus as I slowly began to open my eyes. Magically my clothes, which were flung all over the floor the night before, were perfectly folded on the dresser. The shades on my bedroom window were drawn to the very top, aiming the early morning sun straight into my direction, blinding me. I could hear the wind outside, cool and crisp, causing me to burrow further into my blankets-interrupting my own personal cocoon of warmth and safety. “You’re going to be late for your first day of school if you don’t get moving!”. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and planted my feet on the soft, vanilla colored carpet. Instantly, I felt the nervousness fluttering through my veins. Today is going to be my first day in First grade. I was in the bathroom combing my bed head, brushing my teeth, and drying off from my morning shower. While getting ready, the aroma coming from the kitchen was mouth watering. With that first whiff, I instantly knew...

...The Present, Future and Ethics of Nanotechnology Marlon Green Writing 122 Vincent E. Lasnik December 7, 2010 Word count: 1871 The world has embraced nanotechnology with open arms. What once was science fiction, something you watched on Star Trek is now a global reality. Majority of us have not even noticed. Whether you are a CEO of a multibillion dollar die cast company, a heart surgeon, an auto repair shop manager, a drug company representative, or even a house painter. Nanotechnology will impact you. This is not just a new range of technology but a new social force. The family of Nano scale technologies, like numerous other perilous issues of our time, stands at a stage of choices for human ethics. The concept of Nano scale technology begins with the boldly speculative nineteen fifty nine speech “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom” by Nobel Prize winning Theoretical physicist Richard Feynman. In the speech he said he was not afraid to consider the question whether ultimately in the great future, we can arrange the atoms the way we want (Feynman, 1959). Scientists in the beginning had meant Nano machines of some sort that would be able to build desired entities atom by atom (Molecular manufacturing). Today nanotechnology can be more broadly viewed as the contemporary result of a natural downsizing progression in nearly all the sciences and there techniques. Nanotechnology is the study and control...

...heard about Tesla Motors, the company which was found in 2003 by Elon Musk. He developed a person-to-person payment platform known as PayPal, which made him a billionaire. And after that he decided to focus on realization of his long-standing dreams: one is Space X – the company, the main purpose of which is the design of launch vehicles and the cargo delivery to the Space. This is the first commercial company to launch and dock a vehicle to the International Space Station. The second is Tesla Motors – the company, which pushes cars into the “New Age” - the age of the clean electric cars. Which wants put an end to uneconomical and low-tech cars of the past1.(http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B0%D1%81%D0%BA,_%D0%AD%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD) Internal combustion engine efficiency - though continuously improving over time - still causes criticism by the "clean energy" crowd. It is argued that in our time of innovation the slow increase in efficiency is not sufficient, and an alternative is needed. That is why the "green" energy adopters see Tesla Motors' Model S as a messiah of sorts. We should keep in mind that the ecological impact of internal combustion vehicles is often overlooked in pursuit of power, luxury factor, or comfort. IC engines produce carbon monoxide that has environmental impact, certain functional elements are non-recyclable and have to be destroyed or stored indefinitely. Tesla offers - on paper, at least - an alternative to a classic form with innovative function and...
