The Consensual Slaying of Gaius Cassius 3 October, 42 B.C. -Forty-two year old Roman senator Gaius Cassius has been found dead at the Battle of Philippi, from an apparent consensual homicide. As the war started to look more grim for Cassius and his men, Cassius decided to take the easy way out. Instead of being a lionhearted individual and leading his army through all his tribulations, he would rather ask his slave, Pindarus, to stab him and kill him. It was reported that Cassius had decided to do this after being told that his friend Titinius had been captured. Unable to ponder what was going to happen to Titinius, Cassius committed suicide. In actuality, Titinius was not captured, but was actually celebrating with his fellow Roman soldiers.
