The future of the youth resides within the hands of the school system. These adolescents have been indoctrinated to abide by the words that dwell upon a degree; if one chooses not to pursue a college degree, they abdicate the entitlement of an equitable economic opportunity. This has aroused the issue concerning the effectiveness of college on its participants, in which success is both its spur and reward. Those who have persisted college have taken the initiative to evaluate the necessity of it. A diploma cannot define success as there are jobs that do not require one. A predominant occurrence of this is the Devbootcamp, in which students are taught how to program for the cost of 12,000. In return, approximately 90 percent of graduates found jobs, those of which acquired salaries as high as 80,000 (Source E). The curriculum is not fixated upon a perfect students who takes upon a heavy load or courses, but rather it is coordinated to the job itself. This allows the student to secure a job, while not having to go into college and earning a diploma. Success cannot be defined by an unnecessary elegant piece of paper. College has altered the thinking of students to accept that education is used for careers, and not the expansion of one’s mind (Source F). The college systems are flawed as students have been instructed to believe that a degree is needed to obtain a career, instead of training to think more on a psychological and physiological level. These skills may be occupied through life experiences that are detached from college, without falling into student debt. In if society is to support high education, it must be regarded as an essential aspect of it. If not, then it is affordable and efficient to provide students with a basic social and logical foundation as well as job-training that will not need a college degree (Source B). Society is exigent, due to the pressure that is exerted upon students to go to college. However, it is cheaper for students to get basic training which would ultimately be an effective process as time and money would not be wasted away. In addition, college allows one to accumulate skills that are not sufficient for the real world at the expense of student debt. After college, one becomes disoriented because there is no path to take for guaranteed success, although that was taught in schools. In the political cartoon“Good Luck!” a student is leaving college, with a degree in one hand and a bag of debt on the other (Source D) . An authoritative figure tells the student “Good Luck!” This is in a way ironic in which the college is on its own cliff and the student is holding a heavy bag of debt, therefore the only path is down.
