When Ken Kesey had used the word “guts ball”, it was quick and not used again in later chapters; but the brevity of it had not diminished its power throughout the novel. To me, the term represented bravery, getting in control of your life with a kind of fearlessness despite the odds. Over the course of the past eight years, I have come to learn that there is no situation bad enough so that things do not come out alright in the end. Moving to the opposite side of the country away from my father was a difficult transition to make and still continues to be, but as things began to unravel here, I realized I would not be the person I am today if it had not been for the move.
