The federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) were implemented in 1993, by the former, President Bill W. Clinton. (Labor) The Family and Medical Leave Act entered into force on 5 August 1993 for the majority of employers. FMLA allows employees to balance their work and family life through reasonable leave without paying for certain family and medical reasons. The FMLA seeks to achieve these goals in a way that fits the legitimate interests of employers and minimizes the potential for gender-based discrimination while promoting equal employment opportunities for men and women.
