...Many people argue that cheerleading is not a sport. It has been a very controversial topic for quite some time now. According to Dictionary.com, “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical progress and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.” Cheerleading fulfills that definition easily and I will tell you how. If you want to compare it to another sport, you can with gymnastics. Gymnastics consist of gymnast tumbling, cheerleaders tumble as well along with doing other things. Dancing is also considered a sport, cheerleading routines have a dance portion in them. Both gymnastics and dancing are involved in cheerleading but they are considered sports and cheering...

There are four broad categories of competitive priorities: 1. cost ~ offering a product at a low price relative to the prices of competing products. 2. Quality ~ which is the competitive priority focusing on the quality of goods and services. 3. Time ~ time or speed of one of the most important competitive priorities. This priority focusing on speed and on time delivery of products and fourth is flexibility. This priority focuses on offering a wide variety of goods and services. To formulate the process it is essentially a sequential process of five steps: Understanding corporate objectives: this is meant to contribute to corporate objectives. Studying the marketing strategies; fit the marketing strategy into types of operations strategies, process choices and infrastructure requirements. ...The Effect of Static and Dynamic Stretching on Flexibility Case Situation Kristy Ellis is a high school varsity competitive cheerleading coach. Part of her job is making sure she provides the most beneficial stretching program to her athletes to achieve maximum flexibility. After hearing several coaches talk about dynamic stretching as part of their program at the national competitive cheerleading convention, she wonders if she should replace her already established static stretching program with dynamic stretching. She seeks out you, the high school’s athletic trainer, for your expert knowledge on whether static or dynamic stretching is more effective at improving flexibility. Introduction/Background Competitive cheerleading is a team sport that relies heavily on flexibility. It requires a range of bodily motion that exceeds the flexibility of the average person in order to execute proper stunts, jumps, and gymnastics. Concerning warm-ups, static stretching has been considered an essential component for decades (Behm, 2011). Static stretching involves moving a...

...Before speaking, I began using my fine motor skills to sign my wants and needs and by the age of 3, I was writing my ABCs. Since the age of 8, I have practiced and excelled at the piano and performed at several recitals. I also have been involved in 4-H during this same time. Through 4-H, I have learned to skillfully sew with both a machine and by hand, creating items to be judged at county and state levels (skirts, shirts, pants, jackets and formal dresses). I have also participated in yearly drawing, knitting, floral arranging and photography projects and cheerleading competitions that require significant skills in eye-hand coordination. During my high school education, I had the...

The coaches who talked on the record always ended our chats with the same concern: "I didn't say anything that will make me look bad, right?" Shaka Smart Andy Lyons/Getty Images To reach Shaka Smart's level, black coaches often have to overcome certain labels. I don't blame them. It's an incendiary issue, because we're uncomfortable with race as dialogue. It's still a subject that makes athletic directors -- 89 percent of whom are white at the Division I level, per the report -- squirm. Minority coaches speak cautiously, because they don't want to be labeled as rebels or militants. That hesitancy is a significant component in a perennial problem that's often managed but rarely attacked. An inherent defensiveness makes the subject difficult to publicly dissect. So year after year, the issue remains. The numbers aren't too surprising, but they're worth addressing, especially when the coaching pool belies the fact that 57.2 percent of Division I men's basketball players are...

...Education V. Activities and Diet A. Exercise B. Healthy Foods CHILDHOOD Childhood Obesity: That Turns Out To Be Major Adult Health Issues There is an update on one of the biggest epidemics in the world and that is childhood obesity that eventually becomes major health issues for adults. Over recent years and our economy in trouble, there have been budget cuts that affected our school systems. A several years ago the elementary schools had physical education five days a week, then it was changed to three times a week and now some of our schools only offer P.E. twice a week. Our children are not given the chance to run and play so that they can burn calories that they so much need. We need to get Physical education back into our schools and our children outside playing more often and as parents we need to take away the computers and game systems to get our children back outside running and playing like we used to back when we were younger. If P.E. is not the option to bring back to our five day school week then maybe the teachers can take about twenty minutes out of their schedules to simply walk around the P.E. field or around the campus just to burn a few calories after lunch before heading back into the classroom where they will more than likely sit for the rest of the day...

...period of five years during 2004–2009 where a total of eight-thousand five-hundred and seventy recruits were enrolled at the start of their training to find out the incidence and pattern of stress fractures (Dash 2012). A total of six hundred and four out of a total of eight-thousand five hundred and seventy recruits sustained SF during the study period. The majority of fractures occurred during basic training. This proves that the stress fractures occurred because of the strenuous activity the recruits were engaging in. Factors like urban residence, vegetarianism and those without prior history of physical activity were found to be associated with stress fractures. The tibia was the most common bone affected. With this study about stress fractures it has been learned that priority should be given to individuals with good sports and physical activity background during recruitment. Intensity of training should be gradually increased during first three months of training. The rehabilitation method for stress fractures during basic military training can be considered the same as the first study when observing young athletic women. Starting at the beginning level of an exercise program, then gradually increasing...

...Consumer Needs and Wants Cynthia Harris BUS350 Instructor Andrea Benjamin December 21, 2015 This year I have spent a lot of money. The money I make goes to rent, bills, gas, groceries, and any other expenses. The main stores I shopped at were Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart, and Aldi’s. I also spent way too much money at restaurants such as Mattito’s and Golden Corral. Also, I noticed I eat out more than I buy groceries, which showed why I didn’t have very many product purchases. There are many products I am brand loyal to but there were a few that I tried to change since they were on sale or I just wanted to try something new. I also found that I chose more products that weren’t name brand. I think that I chose these because I was on a budget and I knew how much I wanted to spend when I was at the store. I found that the name brand products were always at least two to three dollars more than brands that weren’t name brand. I also found that some of the brands that aren’t name brand taste a lot better and you usually get more than you pay for out of the non name brand products. One of the products that I am really happy I tried was a new Keurig K-Cup coffee brand called “Cameron’s”. The box of 12 was very inexpensive only costing $4 compared to the Folgers Gourmet that I usually buy that costs around $8 with tax. So, I spent half and I feel I got better quality. I also really wanted to try this particular product because it was different than all of the other K-Cups...

...It’s all about the Literature Heather Henegar Grand Canyon University: RDG-514 July 2, 2015 It’s All About the Literature As with any area in curriculum and instruction, teachers should not be fully dependent on one source, but rather use a variety of resources to help students understand content. The same can be said with the use of textbooks. Teachers should supplement core curriculum with quality trade books (GCU, 2012). Trade books can offer a wealth of information such as a means to expand vocabulary, clarify concepts, explore real-world situations, and entertain (GCU, 2012). Furthermore, Johnson & Small, (2008) stated, “In contrast to textbooks, nonfiction trade books can support instruction in nearly every subject…which allows a teacher to front-load experiences with a concept” (p. 132). The following table lists trade books that can be used to enhance and supplement instruction in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading within a fourth-grade classroom. Book Title | Content Area | Summary | Appropriateness | Standards | Millions, Billions & Trillions by David A. Adler & Edward Miller (2013) | Math | In this book, Adler helps students to connect large numbers to other things they already know. There are also hands-on activities that can be done, such as using one-fourth cup of sugar to illustrate what a million might look like. This book also tells students how long it would take to count to a million, billion, and trillion (Adler & Miller...
