It has been a breathtaking series of events that have happened to get to this point in the competition I would say. With my status on the field, my ability and style of play can correlate to the direct outcome of the scoring of the competition. It’s a status and responsibility that take on with a full head of steam, and welcome with open arms. It’s all intriguing but frightening at the same moment.

My fellow players, and companions are putting their dependability for the game to go our way, in my hands. That’s something you never get quite used to also. The game is now a six point game, the circumstances are raising every minute that passes. I watch from the sideline as our defensive unit takes the field to give us a chance to be heroes, and win this game. Our defense is as stout as it comes, but everyone allows points scored every once in awhile right?

Either way, if they want their legacy to be known as heroic, they need to do what needs to be done, now. This moment will define what we want our legacy to be. Our defense does what we all knew they would do. They finished the job at got ourselves the opportunity to win. IT’s our turn to take the game into our own hands on offense.

I’m going to be honest here, my coach and I have a different views on offensive strategies, so this discussion wasn’t the ones you have on a daily basis. We tried to stay as calm and relaxed in a situation like this as possible, but it’s obviously hard for both of us.

After some talk, and a lot of different inputs, and some arguments, we come to a conclusion. The time is now to do what we know we are capable of. The play, however, doesn't work. Well that was for nothing. Time to go back to the drawing board.

It’s now third down, time to move the chains, again. At this point in this intense matchup of two evenly matched teams, i’m excited. These are the kind of games that you live for as an athlete. To have that game winning drive, be the hero, lead your team, those are the things you replay in your mind and you dream about as a boy.
