...The Arctic Fox By Rebekah K, Grade 3 Project due, January 23, 2011 The Arctic Fox is a cute ball of white fluff. They are the size of a cat. They have short ears and legs; they have fur on the bottom of their feet, to keep their feet warm when they walk in the snow. Their fur coats are white in the winter months; this helps them blend in with the snow to protect them from their enemies. Brown – grey in the summer months, so then they look like the rocks and plants that grow in the tundra. The fox has a big bushy tail that they use for balance just like a cat. They also use their long bushy tail to keep them warm when they are sleeping. They have cute little faces, with a black nose and pretty brown eyes. They are one of my favorite animals. The Arctic fox lives in some of the coldest places on earth. In Canada they live in the Northwest Territories. Most foxes dig burrows under the ground or in dens. Some of the dens are over 300 years old. Each new generation of foxes will live there. Most of these dens have over a hundred doorways to get in them. If a fox doesn’t have a den they will burrow deep in the snow for shelter or find a cliff ledge. ...

Red foxes are the most geographically spread member of the Carnivora. Red foxes live all around the world in many different diverse habitats including forests, grasslands, mountains, and deserts. ...stop to think about how this “rebuilding” is going to occur and what is going to help improve Detroit. Though there are multiple possibilities, the Fox Theater, as well as the surrounding area, is a fantastic place to start. Through the Fox Theater, its contributions, and the region surrounding it, Detroit can become a popular center for entertainment and commerce, increasing the city’s capital for further investments. The Fox Theater is located off of Woodward Avenue, surrounded by other entertainment buildings, such as the Fillmore Theater and Hockey Town. It was, of course, not always like this. Detroit’s Fox Theater was designed by Charles Howard Crane and, after a building period of 18 months, opened in 1928 (Luca). Built as a cheap form of entertainment for people of all classes during this age of novel entertainment, The Fox Theater was a massive success (Herzog 22). As the “Roaring Twenties” came to an abrupt end with the beginning of the Great Depression, the theater managed to stay open; the fall of the economy set off an unfortunate domino effect, however, with its terrible affects visible in the city of Detroit (Luca). The immense struggle that Detroit has dealt with, and arguably still dealing with, can be eased (and ideally rid of) by building up Detroit as an “entertainment destination” (Eisinger 106). The Fox Theater has always provided the city with a popular means of entertainment and is continuing to do so: shows continue to play to this day, drawing in...

...CNN vs. Fox News I decided to focus on the CNN and Fox News networks for this assignment; in order to gain an understanding on the differences between how each network shares information with the public. From my own perspective, I have always viewed CNN as a more reliable source than Fox News, and as I analyzed both networks I find this assumption to be truer than I thought. I found that both networks share several of the same world news events, but each network has a different priority. However, of the several stories shared, one news report caught my attention most; the ISIS video threats to France, Italy, and the U.S. After watching both CNN and Fox News, it was evident to me that CNN broadcasted their findings in a very conscious manner, keeping the audiences best interest at mind. However, it isn’t just the fact that CNN touches upon several aspects concerning ISIS that gives me the impression that they are a more reliable source; but the depth that they get into in just thirty minutes. In the particular news broadcast covering the ISIS video that I saw, CNN gave detailed advice on how American tourists should stay safe, potential targets that ISIS may hit, and the protective security measures that the government is taking along with the FBI. They include insight on how several authorities are taking action by attending briefings and reporting back, as well as further investigation on how suicide bombs were built. When watching the one hour segment that Fox News had...

...CNN vs. Fox News ENG/220 March 3, 2014 CNN vs Foxnews There are a number of news outlets currently available online, but no two are as big as CNN.com and Foxnews.com. These two media giants control most of the coverage on news stories circulating the globe. Although, nothing is covered as heavily as the presidential election in the United States. The two websites, and their affiliated television channels have hosted multiple debates and both have nearly twenty four seven coverage of the current national election. For most individuals, this would be the end of the two media giant’s similarities as they are considered to be very different ideologically. One author states, “In their coverage of the invasion of Iraq, CNN and FNC broadcast two distinct ideological news cultures.” (Silcock 2008). The writings to follow, will take you on a journey of the key differences and similarities of these two successful companies. Similarities CNN.com has long been regarded as a more liberal sources than its counterpart Foxnews.com, this may be true in some instances, but certainly not all. While most people would disagree with that statement, it is relatively closer to the truth than thinking that CNN is a very liberal source. In most instances online, the two sources have very similar headlines, and their stories are much closer to being aligned than one would expect. For example, on CNN.com the main headline is “Trump is a fraud,” whereas on Foxnews.com it is “Trump, Romney feud erupts...

...Walt Disney Company vs. 21st Century Fox Founded in 1923 by Walt Disney, The Disney Company, and since 1986, The Walt Disney Company is approaching its 92nd year anniversary. While the length of a company's existence is not necessarily tied to a company’s success, it is difficult for a media company to have such a long history and not have some kind of cultural impact. In fact, The Walt Disney Company has not been immune to shifts in the executive positions, scandals, and economic downturns. Disney is an international brand and a household name. It is a cultural icon. With that said, it is a business, one capable of bad decisions and mistakes. Over the last year, not only did Disney shares reach all-time highs, but the company experienced resounding cross-platform success with its Frozen franchise, spurred excitement for the upcoming sequels to the original Star Wars trilogy, and readied the opening of the new Shanghai Disney Resort. Furthermore, the media conglomerate continues to perform at a high level, despite facing constant pressure in its film and broadcasting holdings. Disney creates, develops, produces, markets, and distributes content through an unrivaled range of media platforms. The company derives its revenues from five operating segments. Media Networks (43% of companywide business in fiscal 2014) includes ESPN, ABC, Disney Channel, among others, and generates sales from affiliate fees, ad sales, and the distribution of television programs. ...FOX News Biased? Media holds great power in any Country. It has the power to change the public’s perspective on any kind of leading force. It can provide information that the public may find horrifying, or it could provide a already negative view to an already disliked group. Whether the news provides good news or bad news, news is supposed to be informative, unbiased, and uncontrolled by any kind of power. The politician in power would make the call in which information is to be shared to the public or which information to be concealed. This kind of news provides no demonstration of what real news is supposed to be. Over the years, America seems to have been devoid of “corrupt media system.” As the country’s one of the main theme is to provide freedom of press, the news has not been too affected by the government. However, America’s news does not seem completely perfect either. One of the major broadcasting company, FOX, has the reputation of “bad news.” Not only is the company biased toward the Republican side, it also fails to administer what most people look for in real news. First, it is evident that Fox has been more influenced by the Republican/GOP side than any other party in America. Although it seemed somewhat unbiased for a little while, when the election time came, majority of Fox news articles seem to provide comfort to the public that the current government is doing its job is keeping the world a peaceful, safe and secure place. Secondly, because of...
