The first significant quotation to me is, when the man is studying the country to the south. He walks out onto the road and wonders how long it would take to get somewhere warm before it was too late, even though he has no clue what time of the year it is. “He thought it was October but he wasn’t sure. He hadn’t kept a calendar for years”(4). I feel like this is a good quotes to be in the novel because it shows loss of time. To them, time doesn't really matter anymore because of how many years have passed and the fact that they don’t know when or if this will ever end. This I feel can relate to me when i’ve been counting down something for so long it just doesn’t seem to matter any more and slips my mind because I feel like it will never come. “When he woke in the woods in the dark and the cold of the night he'd reach out to touch the child sleeping beside him”(3). This is a major example of how the man cares for the boy. Every second he can, he …show more content…
God
“On this road there are no God spoken men. They are gone and I am left and they have taken with them the world”(32). The man feels that when the world went to bad, God went with it. I believe this passage in the novel is showing how these people have no external morals anymore. Suggesting the direction and focus they lack is because there is nobody left to decide what is right and what is wrong anymore, as if they are on there own to decide what is right and wrong. Like there is no world left to have a leader or god exist. As to them, they feel god has abandoned them by causing this horrible event.

A way of Cormac McCarthy to make the book deeper for us I feel is by adding flashbacks. But he aswell ask adding flashbacks he purposely makes them not in chronological order. I feel like what he is trying to do with this, is show how the flashbacks come in and out of his life making it harder for him to grasp them like it is harder for us to read the book and understand the flashbacks as

The Great Gatsby Dialectical Journal Analysis

...“He rationalized that he was so bewildered upon his arrival that he allowed such a thing. The basement was the only place for him as far as he was concerned.” Page 207. In this passage, Max has just awoken from a three day sleep, this after the (no doubt) stressful journey to arrive at what will be his hiding place for the next chapter of his life. As he becomes fully alert and processes his location and situation he is in, he is mortified. Perhaps it was because he discovered he awoke in a room belonging to a young girl and the appearance of impropriety bothered him? Maybe it was because he understood the potential danger to the family, and being in that room (if only in his own mind) increased the risk to his gracious hosts? Or perhaps...
