...My Blue Shed Over this past summer I decided that I was going to build a shed in my backyard. I had convinced myself that this was a necessity because my garage was in serious need of some storage relief. I had seen several at Home Depot and presumed that the apparently uncomplicated rectangular design would be no problem to build. I also assumed that those sheds must be extremely overpriced and that I would be saving a lot of money by doing it myself. I soon found out that a quality shed costs quite a bit of quality money. Most importantly, the expertise to actually construct this simple rectangular box is where the real cost is at. First thing I had to do was figure out how big of a shed that I was going to need. I inquired amongst friends and family how big of a shed I should make, as well as looking at the different models at various stores. I visited Home Depot several times to help me visualize exactly what I would need. After much deliberation I decided that an 8’ x 12’ shed would be just fine. I decided that a couple of lofts on either side of the interior would also give me the additional space that I would eventually want. I wanted a bigger shed but as it turns out the materials for a project like this are far from free. The next thing I had to do was convince my wife that it would be a good idea to have this shed. I was very excited to get started, but my wife was not. I spent the next couple of days convincing her that this was something that would be beneficial...

...Quote: “The boy stood up, he was the filthiest human I had ever seen. His neck was dark gray, the backs of his hands were rusty, and his fingernails were black deep into the quick.” (Lee 29) Analysis: This quote shows that not all the kids in Maycomb have the best hygiene. This could be due to not having the money for it. Which ties back to the fact that a good majority of people in Maycomb live in poverty. This shows the reader that both Maycomb and the civilians living in it that it probably isn’t the cleanest environment. This help the reader be able to connect to the characters and understand where they are coming from and why they might act the way that they do. Lee uses diction in is choice of filthiest and rusty. Lee also uses hyperbole in that same text. Quote:“It’s against the law alright… but when a man spends his relief checks on green whiskey his children have a way of crying from hunger pains.” (Lee 34)...

My primary is weight lifting and strength training all most every day because they help me keep my body in great shape. ...Analysis of “Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston Western Governors University Humanities C100 July 19, 2015 Analysis of “Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston Initial Reaction I suppose my initial reaction to “Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston was one of disgust. The story shows “Delia’s” husband “Sykes” to be both physically and psychologically abusive as well as an adulterer. “Sykes” shows no respect for his wife, their marriage or the work she does. “Delia” works every day, and all her hard work pays for their home and puts food on the table. I found this to be most evident in this line “Mah tub of suds is filled yo' belly with vittles more times than yo' hands is filled it. Mah sweat is done paid for this house and Ah reckon Ah kin keep on sweatin' in it" (Hurston, 1926, p. 46). I found it very interesting that “Delia” has stayed with “Sykes” for 15 years despite his abusiveness and apparent failure to provide a stable income for them. I enjoyed that “Delia” finally decided to stand up to her abusive husband. By his initial reaction when “Delia” threatened him with a frying pan, you can see the “Sykes” is nothing but a bully. This is also made apparent by the way the gentlemen in the store were talking about him, even thinking of murdering him, but ceased their bravado when “Sykes” showed up at the store with his girlfriend (Hurston, 1926). Analysis Hurston’s short story was written in 1926 and given the obstacles of African Americans during that time it’s amazing it was...

Working with architects, and alongside other professions, structural engineers create conceptual designs and ensure that the structure can be built and is stable and durable. A career in structural engineering involves team working, creative problem solving and practical skills such as sketching and drawing, and using computer to create structures and specifications for contractors. ...In the short story, “Barn Burning,” William Faulkner wrote to show us the uncertainty of our individual futures. In many instances, author’s write from personal experience and perspectives, and like stated in our assignment description, they write, “both as reflections of and influences upon their culture.” Here, Faulkner gives us a safe look at the different classes of people in the Old South, where race, monetary value and differences in social class are all derivatives of his purpose. The thesis of “Barn Burning” is implied throughout the story. In my own words, the thesis of this story is given through the analysis of a young and impressionable boy who struggles between moral choices of family loyalty and the moral expectancy of civic justice. In this essay, I will identify and discuss literary elements such as plot, conflict, setting, character analysis, point of view and symbolism suggested in the story. The plot of “Barn Burning” is shadowed with the beginning of young Colonel Sartoris Snopes life and his brush with the law. In this case, Sartoris’ father Abner has been accused of burning a barn. The plaintiff insists Abner had sent word to him through a black man that...

...in a simple house and eats simple food. By comparison, the city mouse lives in a beautiful house and eats well every day. The country mouse wants the life of the city mouse. However, after he goes with the city mouse to taste experience (CH) city life, he does not like it any more. The country mouse prefers to be poor and happy rather than be rich and afraid. (82) Commentary: In my opinion, the story is quite interesting and inspiring in general because it teaches us a life lesson. To me (=I think), the ending seems the most interesting part of the story. This is because in the end the country mouse suddenly realizes/learns that he does not want a rich and dangerous life, but a simple and happy one. I like this part because it also inspires us/leads us to think deeply about our own lives. We might think that a good life means a rich life. However, (=But) according to the story, a good life should be simple and happy. It gives us a different idea about life, which I also agree with itthis . Therefore, (=so) I think this story is interesting and inspiring. (122) Deconstruction: yes, this forms a very good base for your teaching script – well done! VPs: GREEN: Mental*8; > BLUE: Relational*6; > PINK: Material*3 Mental process and relational process are significant in this commentary. A few material verbs occur. Reason: Mental verbs construe both the change of mind of the country mouse 2 (which is the important evidence of your analysis) and your own...

...lawsuits, and why? Apart from the law, was it morally right for the law student to try to help out by drafting the lease, and why? Was she acting helpfully, or foolishly, or fraudulently? Is it just for you to agree to her fee and then refuse to pay it? What is society’s interest in this dispute? Should a court be more concerned with the ethical issue raised by the conduct of the two parties or with the social consequences of this agreement? Answer or Resolution: I will win the lawsuit. Joanna and I have no contract of leasing. It is right on morally to try to help me out by drafting the lease. She has no license of a lawyer, so she acts foolishly. It is not just for me to agree to her fee and then refuse to pay it. The society interest in the law school student whether or not can draft a lease. The court should be more concerned with the ethical issue raised by the conduct of the two parties. Analysis: A car sale contract passes ownership of the car from seller to buyer. The contract can be drafted and signed by the buyer and seller without a lawyer or notary present. However, witnesses to the contract’s signing might make the contract’s validity easier to prove, in the event that either party decides to take the other to court over the car sale. Then, Joanna is a law school student without any license to practice law, so she is illegal to drafting a lease as a lawyer. I refuse to pay fee...
