...Introduction As consultants for CanGo, our job is to make sure that CanGo is up to date with all its policies and regulations and is overall running as smoothly and efficient as possible. Our goal for CanGo is to help them answer any questions that they might have or might arise in the near future. We have come across quite some problems with the company already, but are typical because of the short time that the company has been around. New businesses typically fall into this type of category, where they run into problems, which they don’t even know there is or exist. With CanGo taking on an AS/RS it can really help the company take off and be even more successful than it already is. But first CanGo needs to look with in its company and fix issues such as not having either of vision or mission statement that both employees and customers can look back on and see what this company is all about. With CanGo not handling personnel issues properly can cause ugly lawsuits in the future, and this is something we want to avoid. The top management team at CanGo has a lot of improvements to make from decision making to evaluating employees properly. Over the weeks we will work closely with everyone at CanGo and turn this company around and give it a fresh start. Interactive Alpha Consulting has been retained by CanGo to observe their business processes and provide any course of action needed to address various challenges facing the firm. Over the proceeding years CanGo would establish itself as a regional online success story, providing customers with the opportunity to purchase books, music, videos and games in an online environment. As the country became consumed by an economic crisis, CanGo somehow managed to sustain its success by providing customers with affordable options for entertainment. In this way, CanGo was able to capture a mass market of a variety of segmented consumers. Despite CanGo’s initial success, however, the organization is not without its fair share of concerns. The primary issue with CanGo is that it lacks a formal strategic business plan. The company has also failed to clearly define what its short-term goals and long-term goals are and how it plans to go about realizing those goals. The company...

For CanGo they have the vision of where they want to be in the future and the start of a good internal structure to carry out those goals and vision. Where things seem to get off track for CanGo is in the areas of communication between departments, ensuring that full financial analysis have been completed before starting on a project, internal organization within the company, lack of professionalism between employees, and lack of concern for legality when it comes to company action’s. All of these issues if left uncorrected can pose a huge threat to the viability of CanGo’s business in the future. However, on the other hand if the following recommendations are put into play and the current issues are resolved it will only further and grow CanGo in their current state and in the future. Issues: 1. There seems to be a serious lack of communication between departments at CanGo. At any given time it is apparent that employees do not seem to know what others are working on or have already worked on. 2. CanGo has not done a proper full financial analysis regarding the new system; once again no project should be jumped into without proper analysis. 3. CanGo’s lack of a strategic plan to train the personnel for new responsibilities. CanGo management is seriously considering entry into the online gaming market, a business of which CanGo management has limited understanding, while simultaneously attempting...

Wischer DeVry University November 21, 2013 6 Issues facing CanGo from week 3and week4 Maurine Edwards Market Research Flow Charts/Data Brent Tucker Leadership Financial Caromill Almanzar Website/User Friendly ASRS 3 Issues facing CanGo from week 3 Jack’s justification for the new system (ASRS) - Caromill Almanzar Jack feels that the company should go under a new system to increase efficiency for their warehouse and inventor. Liz is concerned that the investment for the (ASRS) may not yield the necessary return to justify the investment. Jack’s argument is, the (ASRS) will help tremendously with the pickup station operators, to an extent that the station will be gone. Currently operators pick about 45 books per hour, the new system has the capacity to pick 360 books per hour. Liz isn’t convinced with Jack, She’s has doubt with the expense. She is also concerned about the integration of the system, the website, and their discount system. The only benefit that she sees with the new system is the reduction of labor. Recommendation: The ASRS is generally applied in applications where high volumes of inventory are moved into and out of manufacturing or distribution operation. The ASRS system typically is considered an alternative to fork lifting, and manual material handling. The system also saves space and building cost. The issue with this system will be with the process stability, capital effectiveness, and...

...-1 introductory video, CanGo seems to be doing very well in the market place. This was evidence by the telephone call that was made to Liz by the President of the Hudson Valley business association. When Liz was inverted to speak at the Hudson Valley business meeting to share her expertise with the rest of the business community, she could not define how the business was organized the system she and her management team have used to be so successful in the Hudson Valley. She could not clearly say where she came from as a business, where she is and where she will be going as a business. This seems clear to us that CanGo lacks a mission statement for the smooth operation of the business. If CanGo continue on this path, the company may and will experience major setbacks in areas of business growth and development, accountability and the ability to stay in the market places if other market forces come against her. Recommendation: CanGo like any other business is in the market place to survive and be profitable. Therefore if CanGo must survive and be competitive it must develop a mission statement as a foundation for survival. This statement will define the goals and operations of the business and the purpose for which it was established. 2. CanGo Ethical and Moral Values Due to the absence of an established mission statement the importance of ethical code of conducts cannot be overemphasized. The moral and ethical values of any establishment like CanGo, is based on professionalism...

...Cango Week 1 And 2 Video Analysis Report Week 1 & 2 Analysis Report “Poor strategic planning is worse than no strategic planning. It can be a big waste of time and money” (“Strategic Thinking”, 2011, p.1). Strategic planning plays a very crucial role in helping organizations achieve their goals. The strategic planning process requires both managers and their subordinates to work together as a team to design, plan and implement those goals. We have noticed that there have been some deficiencies in the leadership of CanGo Inc. We have also provided some recommendations for the management team to improve their weaknesses so that the company can continue to stay successful in achieving its goals and launching itself to the online gaming industry. (1) There is a lack of mission, vision and value in CanGo Inc. Liz, the founder and CEO started her company with an emergent strategy process. This strategy would not allow the company to stay successful in the long run. Liz thinks that the success of the company has nothing to do with strategic planning. As a result, she fails to recognize the importance of strategic management planning. This issue is the top priority to be addressed because it is the core foundation of the success of the company (BUSN 460, Week 1 Video, 2003). (2) However, the management fails to analyze the company’s position in the market to set reasonable long-term and short-term goals. The goals and expectations seem to be unrealistic or unachievable...

...structure, CanGo needs to allocate resources and manage dependencies. Companies will often sail through the senior team meetings without those in attendance knowing exactly what they’re signing up for, because senior executives already have an execution plan for what they want senior team members to accomplish. Liz and Warren need to make sure that projects are prioritized, assign who is responsible for what part of each project; this will allow everyone to know what is going on and also give the team a sense of structure that they need. They know what the expectations are and so they should coordinate resources among Senior Staff to ensure these projects are executed. The senior team needs to understand their role in the decision-making process in order to make things fun more smoothly. CanGo senior management can build its effectiveness through members’ collective impact on the business, focus on alignment, and identify critical dependencies within the organization’s most strategically important activities. 2. Problem: CanGo’s performance evaluation process appears to be ineffective with no clear criteria that would help the company, managers and the employee’s progress towards the future. Recommendation: CanGo’s current evaluation system, as presented by Warren, is a great start to developing a fair and productive work environment. The system has to be clear and concise so it benefits the employee, manager and ultimately the company. Although CanGo may have...

...sporting equipment, it would need to determine if this includes all sporting equipment or a selection of products. Further, the company would need to determine what would be the various levels of support it would provide to its customers. For example, would the company take its equipment directly to the consumers for demonstrations and lessons on how to gain the optimal results with the equipment? All of these types of decisions would be the result of the organization developing a strategy for how it will conduct its business. All of this translates into Strategic Management with the intended result of gaining a competitive advantage in a business niche. Very simply, developing a Strategic Management Plan means having defined what is the best set of results the organization can attain or what the organization wishes to accomplish (from the Vision and Mission Statements), developing the ways to accomplish these results (Strategies), and measurable factors (Goals and Objectives). All of this is in context of good business practices (ethics) and making good business decisions. A vibrant organization knows that Strategic Management requires: * Planning by completing the...

...CanGo Video Analysis Report (Week 3 & 4) 360 Consulting DeVry University 1. Market Analysis This market analysis will focus on the benefits of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System also known as the ASRS. The ASRS provides a compact storage capability that maximizes floor space; the automatic retrieval system accurately retrieves items for shipping and replenishes stock. The computerized system automatically delivers the inventory item to the conveyor belt (MHI, 2014). Layout Design CanGo’s layout design functionality is poor with tight spaces and congestion in the book storage area. The storage capacity is limited; during peak times shipping is often delayed because books are not in stock. Revised Layout Design The revised layout has easier access to products, which frees up space to accommodate additional items. This design affords the company the ability to expand as the business continues to grow. As the design shows the book storage area has changed to accommodate the ASRS and commuters and pick stations has been eliminated. Benefits of ASRS * Gain up to 85% additional floor space * Reduce labor by 2/3 * Extension of order cut off times * 99.9% accuracy rate * Can generate additional revenue by using freed space and employees for other activities * Traceability * Inventory Control Cons of ASRS * Initial outlay for the ASRS is large. One aisle cost between $103.000 - $634...
