The Importance Of Hunting In The United States

I ask unanimous consent to address the house for one minute. There are many hunters in the United States. As time goes by, there are fewer places for sportsman to go hunting. A new US Fish and Wildlife survey shows that the number of hunters has declined by 7 percent, to 13 million, in the past 5 years. Although it was a crucial part of human's survival 100,000 years ago, hunting is now nothing more than a violent form of recreation that the majority of hunters do not need for subsistence. Hunting in my opinion is not acceptable for different reasons. Like for example an animal is rather hunted for food or just for fun. The food part is understandable since there are mostly more meat eaters than vegetarians, but I still think that is wrong.

Beside fun, there are also various purposes of hunting such as for foods, peculiar designed clothes, and business. Also, it has good impact to our environment. Hunting is essential for balancing ecosystem and economic development. Hunting is very important for balancing the ecosystem. We can balance the ecosystem by shooting animals that are excessively large in population. The large population of an animal also harms other animals that are endangered and transfer dieses to human beings. So, hunting is a best way to balance the ecosystem. First, overpopulation of animals in an area destroy the ecosystem and make resources limited for other animals, so hunting is a great way for controlling the populations of numerous different animals. Hunting is an operative way to kill animals and harmonizing the ecosystem. As we all know, deer are causing many traffic calamities in United States that can cause an accidental death including lost of properties. Approximately 1,050 people died in vehicle-animal...

Argumentative Essay: The Whaling Banned

...I do not agree with the Norwegian and Japanese position about permiting the hunting for fun. Actually, I don’t agree with cultures that allow the hunting of species, endangered ones or not. Hunting, in my opinion, is not a nice thing, since it can disturb the hole environment and, hypothetically, could even give an end to some species. But maybe this opinion I have is cultural, too. In my country it’s forbidden to hunt. This way, I grew up learning that this is a not real good thing, and my mind kept this information for all my life until now. So, in the same way, I understand people that agree with that, and may think it’s a normal thing, since they could be born in a country that this is the culture, and this way always found it a normal thing. I think the whaling ban does not constitute a violation of the nation’s sovereignty, because I think it’s just like the human rights, but with animals. The human rights, it doesn’t matter the culture, the country and the region, are there to protect everybody from cultural abuses. It warrantees the minimum rights a person must have, the ones you can’t deny. And, this same way, the world’s activism may protect the environment with the minimum to preserve species and wild life. In my opinion, an international committee should...

The Hunting Ground, serves as a tool of inspiration for other victims alike, however, survivors viewing the documentary may feel defeated by the duo’s ability to publically exceed expectations throughout the recovery process. Annie and Andrea served as sensational advocates for others, while overcoming trauma of their own. It is also important to note the rarity of multiple victims recovering together from sexual assault. Perhaps this highlights the importance of attending support...

The National Rifle Association

...shooting. The two men visited a bank in 1871 and was given a loan by the state of New York to create and work toward the National Rifle Association. The two men discussed who they would hire to become president. They decided on a former General of the Cilvil War, General Ambrose Burnside. The three men then purchased land in Long, Island, New York to build a rifle range, which would eventually hold the first rifle shooting matches. Because of various complications the three men had to sell their land back to the state of New York and move the NRA to Sea Girt, New Jersey. In 1903 the NRA set out to promote shooting clubs in colleges, universities, and military establishments. By the year 1906 the NRA was hosting more then two hundred young men from around the world in shooting competitions in New Jersey. Even today the shooting competitions of young men is one of the largest for the NRA. They have over one million participants including the 4-H, the Boy Scouts of America, the American Legion, and the US Jaycees. Because the NRA was getting so large, they needed to open a new range to host all participants. Construction on a new range was started just off the shores of Lake Erie. This new range was called "Camp Perry". Camp Perry became the host of the national shooting matches. With over six thousand people attending this shoot annually, it is one of the largest sporting events in the United States. In 1934 the NRA was hit with a lot of attacks on violating the Second...

Gender Discrimination

...Female Discrimination in China’s Enterprise’s Graduate Recruitment and Selection Practices: A Case Study. 1. Introduction: 1.1 Background of the topic and the research significance 1.1.1 Background According to China National Radio, more than 7,490,000 college students in China will graduate and enter the job market in 2015, which makes this year “the hardest job-hunting season ever for graduates”. In the overwhelming news coverage, media mainly focus on the largely increasing number of graduates, the contradiction between limited demand from job market and redundant labor supply and the status quo in job-hunting. Less attention is paid to female college students who are encountering gender discrimination in job-hunting. According to All-China Women’s Federation, 91.9 percent of female college students responded that they felt the existence of gender discrimination against women in job-hunting (Ye, 2012). Another survey by Guangzhou Women’s Federation revealed that 71.9 percent of female college students had encountered gender discrimination in job hunting (Feng, 2014). In addition, a report by China University of Political Science and Law indicated that 68.98 percent of recruiters were involved in gender discrimination in employment. Gun Control in America

...20, 2013 Did you know that in the United States that there are almost as many firearms as there are citizens (Wadman, 2013)? Consequently, the second amendment of the constitution gives each American citizen “The Right to Bear Arms.” The right to bear these arms is a just that, a right but, along with that right comes responsibility. Since the days of the pioneers, firearms have been an element of the American tradition as defense and a means of hunting or activity. However, as we progress through the 21st century the use of guns has changed significantly. Some of the reasons for the change are the steady increase in crime and the battle for the right to have possession of hand guns. Due to the number of gun owners in America, one might think that we have a strong affection for guns and gun ownership rights. This could not be further from the truth. Americans views towards guns have shifted significantly. In a 1998 Harris Poll taken a year before Columbine, shows that almost 70 percent of Americans favor “stricter gun control” (Contexts, Fall, 2003). So what should we do about this? I believe that stricter gun control legislation should be the solution to much of the gun violence that is plaguing our nation. Restricting the right to bear arms, especially assault weapons should make our communities safer. Granted, many people in community all across this country own guns. A large portion of these guns are used for hunting, but even greater numbers are used in...

Heritage Report Seneca Indian

...late 1600’s the tribes combined to have a population reported to be near 5000, though some have said it was closer to 3500. The tribes occupied the area from New York to Lake Erie from as far north as Canada and as south as Pennsylvania. Their economy was based around crops as well as what was caught during hunting and fishing trips. Like most hunters and gathers, the women harvested the crops and gathered fruit and berries as well as the different roots and plants that would be used for medicinal purposes while the men would typically handle the hunting. Seneca Indians where well versed in agriculture, predominantly growing what they called the three sister crops: corn, squash and beans. They did not rely solely on agriculture, though, and were also considered good hunters and fishers. Seneca women were granted more responsibility than women from other cultures during their time. Along with the responsibility of growing the crops, they were also in charge of the domesticated animals and helped run elections within the tribe. The men were typically away from the rest of the tribe, either scouting/developing locations for new cities or at hunting grounds. The hunting and fishing grounds were...

How the Pygmies Can Instruct Americans

...Can Instruct Americans Anthropologists study cultures for many different reasons, one of which being to understand differences in the way that societies interpret the same concept. In “The Forest People”, Turnbull discusses several practices in Pygmy society that allow the small community to continue to flourish in spite of, what many of us would consider to be, severe disadvantages. The Pygmy’s basic trust in one another, understanding of the need to accomplish communal goals, and distribution of leadership and responsibility are all examples of aspects that may be present in American society but that the Pygmy’s could instruct us on how to improve on. One aspect of Pygmy culture that should more widely be practiced in the United States is the concept of basic trust within a culture or society. Trustworthy parental figures that act on the needs of children, with warm and calming resolutions, make for a positive world image. The Pygmy’s society is full of this kind of adult. For instance, the parents of everyone in the same age group are all referred to, by the children, as "mother" or "father,” while the older ones are called "grandparents." As far as pygmy children are concerned, all adults are their parents and grandparents, which gives the community a familial connection rather than the disconnection that is created when neighbors and community members isolate themselves. Due to this practice in pygmy society, there is always someone around to take care of children's...

Foreshadowing In Lord Of The Flies Rhetorical Analysis

...By claiming that Ralph is discrediting the hunters, Jack appeals to the hunters’ pride. Furthermore, Jack attacks Ralph’s ethos, claiming that all Ralph does is order everyone around without doing work such as hunting. The irony in Jack refusing to “play” with Ralph’s group is that Jack is the only one treating the island as a game. Ralph and Piggy both realize how dire the boys’ situation is and attempt to organize the group in hopes of better chances of survival and rescue. However, Jack cares only about hunting and having a fun time, which is to say Jack is treating the island similar to a vacation. Regarding the beast, all the boys attempt to rationalize the situation with their own minds. However, Simon remains skeptical of these arguments. Rather than completely fearing the beast or disregarding it, as the two popular schools of thought on the island have, Simon chooses to verify the existence of the beast before drawing a conclusion. The contrasting images represent how evil may corrupt beauty. Similarly, the scene represents the boys, who have been corrupted by savagery. The reader may react...
