...The Importance of Measuring Enterprise Impact One of the key assets of an enterprise is information. Huge amounts of raw data are produced during every operational transaction in the company. Processing raw data into valuable information allows an enterprise to take more accurate decisions into action. Information technologies give support in big business systems like (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning, utilized in recognizing, extracting and analyzing business data, such as, sales revenue by product and/or department. Measuring data is difficult, and companies have to have complex systems for tracking ERP. Outsourcing Data With changing times, systems need to have data energy uses calculated into the core processes to retain more accurate data. Measuring impact is the recognized way in which you show the value your organization is delivering to its recipients and the general public as a whole. Often, companies feel the need to cut internal energy use; therefore, they outsource data processing duties. Businesses must be cautious when outsourcing data. This outsourcing can cause serious issues if the outsourced work is inaccurate or worse, manipulated to cause intentional damage to the company. It is difficult to have patience with outsourced companies that produce inaccurate work, as that is the main objective: they were hired to do the job proficiently and accurately. Having internal processes in place for data formulas can cut down significantly on misuse and incorrect data...

...The Importance of Measuring Enterprise Impact Write a 350- to 700-word summary of the discussion your team had about enterprise impact and measurement of business intelligence in Week 4. Include a discussion on the measuring, monitoring, and managing of the work environment. How does the business handle these demands? The video provided valuable information on the Importance of Measuring Enterprise, in which a business deals with day to day transitions, monitoring how well they can handle the demands of Measuring, track, and managing the work environment. This will be the way it can improve as well as support any management decisions. This is a key factor for any business to monitor the overall production process of the organization, helping management with decision making. One of the benefits is that businesses have the capability to monitor up-to-the minute information, and have real time tracking business transactions. In the video, it states that very few firms have very good data systems that use information technology to track the flow of goods and services. Data can easily be manipulated to adjust numbers for any given company especially the firms that outsource data to other countries. The majority of the companies, who outsource data to other countries, do it to cut down on the cost. One of the issues is that there is no real audit for outsourcing business data; therefore they can be altering the numbers to show that the production is doing well. In today’s world...

...The Importance of Measuring Enterprise Impact Zachary Bloom BIS/221 February 16th, 2015 Thomas Klopfer The Importance of Measuring Enterprise Impact “Green hype and green washing may be on the endangered species list and going away, however, green IT for servers, storage, networks, facilities as well as related software and management techniques that address energy efficiency including power and cooling along with e-waste, environmental health and safety related issues are topics that won’t be going away anytime soon.” (Schulz, 2015) Renewable energy, recycled products and storing data are ways that a business can reduce its carbon footprint The question that needs to be asked is a business green washing their data or products to make it seem like they are environmental friendly. Carbon Footprint In week four my team and I did research and had a discussion over a video we watched on the importance of measuring enterprise impact. “Green washing is a form of marketing spin in which green PR or green marketing is deceptively used to promote the perception that an organization's aims and policies are environmentally friendly. Whether it is to increase profits or gain political support, greenwashing may be used to manipulate popular opinion to support otherwise questionable aims.” (Grant, 2013) The first conclusions we came to was none of us knew that data usage could be bad for the environment and that many companies can claim they use less data....

...Preventing Security Breaches: Collaborative Summary Jasmine Crosby BIS/221 March 26, 2015 Mr. Kelvin Sigler Preventing Security Breaches: Collaborative Summary Within Week 2 we had to discuss an article on Preventing Security Breaches. The article of discussion was “Confronting the Emerging Threat”. Out of this article was listed several ways companies could use to prevent security breaching within their company. One major preventive measure that was interesting in the article is that companies should prohibit employees on transmitting confidential information via email this prevents outsiders from breaching data within the company. Although it is important to use high security within company email does this really stop encrypted information going out into the wrong hands? It was also stated in this article that companies using database systems that are outside of the company are at a great risk. This great risk for example, is a company my employer uses that host several employees training classes and also the last four of each employee social security number. There was an instance when they had an issue with their server which placed our database at risk of losing thousands of data. The major issue is that their IT department stated to us that they had no backup of all the data that we entered in the system for the past year. If we had not saved all the data we input for the past year we would have had to start from scratch. Therefore it is better to be safe than sorry...

There are many potential threats that occur with computers and technology as a whole. In order to prevent certain breaches in security you must first recognize and understand the different types of threats. In the computer security context, a hacker is someone who seeks and exploits weaknesses in a computer system or computer network. Hackers may be motivated by a multitude of reasons, such as profit, protest, challenge or enjoyment. There are master minded hacker criminals in the technology world that are able to breach any kind of security and take over your computer. Computer systems can be affected by viruses, and other types of malicious software causing them to perform ineffectively. Data breach protection and prevention requires a thoughtful, realistic, and proactive approach to security across your organization. Everything from your vulnerability to your risk tolerance must be assessed. The truth is that there is no such thing as 100-percent secure. As such, hard decisions need to be made around the different levels of protection needed for different parts of the business. ...Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SME’s) are the driving force for the promotion of a Caribbean. Due to its significance, all of the Caribbean countries either developed or developing are concentrating on the development of SME’s. It is an important fact that encouraging entrepreneurship through (SME’s) is a key to improve competitiveness, boost trade volume, fostering economic activities and creation of job opportunities. Small enterprises are considered as main driver for innovation, poverty reduction, employment generation and social integration. Due to innovation in SME sector, the production capacity may amplify which has significant impact for the promotion of economic and social development in the Caribbean. In the Caribbean, although there has been a long history of entrepreneurship spirit, the SME development was slow and limited to the few sectors that were available. It was only in the early eighties where some diversification took place with the start of the tourism development. Since then, Tourism has become the main economic activity of many countries and destinations in the region. Two decades later, all related SME developments in the hospitality, the light manufacturing, agro-processing and the service sectors seems to be insufficient to give us a competitive edge in keeping up with the world’s economic and social developments. One thing everybody agrees on is that, regardless the size or the nature of any economy, no effective Globalization is possible without...

...operations has its roots back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries with ideas espoused by Frederick W. Taylor, the father of applying scientific methods to running business. His ideas for time and motion studies of operations were successfully used to scientifically manage production lines and warehouse operations. These ideas, however, led to exaggerated business processes that transitioned into “running a business by the stopwatch” with employers treating human employees as if they were highly reliable, predictable machines to be monitored and controlled. Over time, the workplace’s view of performance measurement became more humane and these exaggerated types of monitor and control methods fell out of favor, replaced by a focus on measuring a business’ performance rather than that of the individual. Throughout the last decade, companies have expended significant amounts of time and effort to re-engineer their supply chains through business process change and technology focused on implementing integrated Supply Chain Management (SCM) principles....

...40K Globe Report In January 2016, I was selected as part of a team to travel to Bangalore, India and work on a social impact project. These projects involved us living in the village of Maralakunte, just north and on the outskirts of Bangalore. The way these impact projects are designed is that each team is given a social aspect that their project revolves around. These aspects include education, employment, food, water, agriculture, energy etc. These projects that we are given also don’t just start and finish with our team. They are a continuous process that teams must handover to another team to continue. Because of this, a 5 stage impact process was designed. This details out the stages of a projects life and the role in the project in each of those stages. Depending on where the project is in its life determines what stage a team will begin their month from. The stages of the impact process are needs analysis, deep dive (solution sets), ideate, prototype and iterate, and finally roll out. Needs analysis involves the team running surveys in their village to determine the main issues in that village that need fixing. The project then moves onto deep dive where the team focuses on the issue that is most important and relevant and brainstorms possible solution sets for this issue. Ideate then involves building new and innovating business models using these solution sets. These models must be able to function as a viable business and also solve the identified need...

...Asset management has an impact on different aspects of a business, including partnerships, projects, development, strategy, marketing, sales, engineering, IT, communications, resource planning, configuration management, training, field support and others as well. Knowledge gained during the design, development and production phases of the assets can be used to generate value for the business during the entire life-time of assets. Importance of Resource Sharing and Alignment in Asset Management: IT Asset Management can be a tricky subject as it requires multiple groups to work in close co-ordination along with resource sharing to produce mutual value. Executive support is an integral part of an ITAM program. It cannot be successful in isolation. For instance: IT companies like TCS are focusing on resource sharing to cut off expenditure on infrastructure and license based usage offering a good ITAM solution. Asset Management is not only about...

...Memo To: Senior Management From: Portfolio Management Team Date: September 27, 2011 Re: SBU Proposal Industry Background Ford Motors Corporation was started by Henry Ford. Born in Wayne County, Michigan, in an area that later became Dearborn, on July 30, 1863, Henry Ford was the oldest of six children. In April 1888, Ford married Clara Bryant, a local girl and the foster child of—like Henry—Irish immigrant farmers. In 1893, his only child, Edsel, was born. Success soon came to him as he took a position in 1891 as an engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company and fairly quickly climbed the ranks. With his love for the outdoors and rural values, Ford might have easily remained in agriculture but something even stronger pulled at Ford’s imagination: mechanics, machinery, and understanding how things worked and what new possibilities lay in store. In the 1980’s, he focused particularly on internal combustion engines. Henry Ford called his first vehicle the Quadricycle. It attracted enough financial backing for Ford to leave his engineer position at Edison Illuminating and helped found the Detroit Automobile Company in 1899. The company faltered for a variety of reasons, and in 1901 Ford left to pursue his own work again. Later that year, the Henry Ford Company was born, but Henry Ford himself stayed with it only a few months. He left in early 1902 to devote more time to refining his vehicles. Ford recognized that with the right techniques, cars could be made affordable...
